What empowers/motivates you as an athlete?
My desire to motivate others and help others understand how to achieve their best!
Has lifting had a positive impact on your life and how?
Most definitely. The long-term planning, the personal discipline, the time management have all been integral to achieving my goals in other areas of my life...career (a university degree and a technical college certification in marketing), personal and emotional. Learning to put aside temporary pleasures for the satisfaction of a long-term goal gives my life direction and meaning. I am learning to be a champion simply by setting my targets high and doing my best at all times.
The Value of Training:
"The duration of an athletic contest is only a few minutes while the training for it may take many weeks of arduous work and continuous exercise of self-effort. The real value of sport is not the actual game in the limelight of applause but the hours of dogged determination and self-discipline carried out alone, imposed and supervised by an exacting conscience. The applause soon dies away, the prize is left behind, but the character you build is yours forever."
I believe lifting weights can help women be strong and confident in other areas of their life. I hope to empower women to be self-sufficient and recognize their true inner beauty and strength.
