I've seen MM for years (decades?).  covid really fkd w/ things.  it took some time to get that one done, but it happened.   never really doubted it, but will echo that the reliability has ebbed and flowed.  patience here was really helpful.

For all the excuses people are making for her, has it ever occured to anyone that she could just return this man's deposit?

Some people here are making it sound like her giving back a deposit is bending over backwards on her part when in fact it should be simple professionalism

Thank you very much Bruce but I am not trying to get a refund.  I still hope I can get my session.  The deal is if I pay for travel Ms Mellisa will come to my area during her next opening.  I of course run the risk of her canceling again.  So I want to wait for until she returns to my area for sessions with other clients.  That way I do not have to give her flight, hotel and expenses money.  The risk with my option is she may never return.  Again I appreciate the offer.

While she's been forced to cancel a lot over the past couple of years, she's never stopped being active. I mentioned that she owes me two sessions, and I could have collected by now, but I haven't been available since the last time I saw her in the latter half of last year. Michaelg1978, I believe your city is Philly also? Hasn't she been here a couple of times since then? Were you offered the opportunity to see her? Also, how many times have you mentioned your deposits? You've been nice about it, but this thread has become an echo chamber.  If you came in and started reading the comments without paying attention to the names, you'd think that there's a lot more guys affected. While I'd agree there are more guys with deposits riding that don't post, you can't ignore that the positive reviews are picking up which also only represents a fraction of the number of new and makeup sessions she's been doing.

Do you think it would be safe to prepay, or even send a deposit to her? I'm just asking your honest opinion, without trying to induce any "guarantee" or something of the like from your part. Retain the deposit for a later visit, in case of her flaking it, would not be desirable for my part, for different reasons. Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!

You obviously hadn't read that post when you made your original statement. Rather than acknowledging that and moving on, you're making up this scenario, and putting words in Eagles65's mouth contrary to what he explicitly said. This was the 12th posting you've made in this thread trashing her this year, but you've never indicated that you've had any dealings with her. If you had, maybe you'd understand why she still gets the benefit of the doubt from those who have. And the issue about his city has been covered. He was her only client there, so it is unlikely she'll be back as part of a tour, which is why travel expenses were being discussed.

If you read through the past two years of postings, I'm not the only person she owes sessions to who's observed that if you give her a deposit, and the initial appointment falls through, she will eventually get to you. In the cases where clients cancel on her, and she has the right to keep the deposit, she prefers to work with them rather than disappoint them. There are reasons she maintains goodwill amongst her regulars, most of whom have been affected by a cancellation at some point.

As many people have noted, when she cancels, she'll often send you proof of what happened like a screen print of a flight cancellation. I think it was last year, she was travelling to Philly, and she sent a picture of her stopped in a traffic jam on I-95. Not that I don't trust her, but I wanted to see what maps had to say, and there was a six-hour delay. So, between family issues, illness, and sheer bad luck, nobody denies she's been less reliable since the pandemic, though I'd say there's been an improvement in the past few months.

If you read the recent posts about actual sessions with her, she's still active and is busy doing makeups. I'll take partial credit for that, because I've been on her about how long some of you have been waiting. She needs new sessions to keep the lights on, but realizes she needs to prioritize the people who have been patient.

You need to decide for yourself what to do, but in my opinion, it depends on your situation. A lot of us have prepaid entire sessions, and it's my understanding that she offers a discount for that. But I'd recommend you stick with 50% unless you're in a city that you know she visits often, so if you need a makeup, you're more likely to get it in a reasonable amount of time.

I've had several dealings with her. She's stood me up 3 times. She still owes me a deposit. It's not nearly as big as what she owes eagle and I'm so fed up with dealing with her that I've stopped wasting my time waiting for her to "make good" on it. It's just not worth it to me anymore.

Saying she should stop canceling on people while keeping their deposit isn't trashing someone, IMO. I don't think it's a lot to ask out of someone.

e_honda i am so sorry you lost your deposits.  I completely understand your frustration.  It is good that we have a forum to communicate with other people.  And to be fair I also respect the opinions of those people who have had a positive experience with Ms Mellisa.  It is good that everyone can express their opinions.  It gives others information so they can make a decision.  With that said I do believe there is a growing problem in the industry.  Deposits that are not returned are becoming too common with many ladies.  In addition I ran into another unfortunate scenario.  The Mighty She Hulk force me to cancel do to her time change request and then later she picked a location which I was too far away.  And yes she knew exactly where I was coming from.  She knew I would be between meetings and she knew where I needed her to pick a hotel.  Instead she made it impossible for me to make the appointment.  We all need to watch out for these things.  If a lady makes a change we need to demand a refund and then rebook.  Any change will require a deposit refund and rebook.  This will protect the customer from lost deposits.
