Very sad. I spoke to her a couple of times about a possible session when I was traveling to Florida near where she lived. She was at the height of her muscularity and beauty, probably in the 2005 - 2007 (?) time frame. We talked about possible session types, we seemed to be compatible, but our schedules never did match up.

I remember reading that she felt she got screwed by the judging in a couple of contests, then had a health issue or two. I saw pictures of her when she tried a comeback a few years ago and... something happened. God knows we all age, some have health problems, but when she came back she didn't look like the same person. (Not a plastic surgery problem.) I must have read here that she returned to be near family in the U.K. I think due to her health. And she was only 44. Heck of a shame.

The first time I saw Joanna was in the Super Size She doc. She looked incredible on it. However, I didn't know that she had any health problems until now. It's still a major loss and my condolences to her family and friends. R.I.P.

For the past several years she had been suffering severe pain from osteoarthritis and needed knee replacement surgery. She had been denied surgery under the UK's socialized medicine scheme due to being over weight and other underlying health issues. She was desperately trying to get as healthy as she could in order to get the help she needed.

Just reading that and I'm shocked. It just so unfortunate and tragic that she had to deal with that.
