Hey Im just posting about Marissa Brown. she ranks number 1 on my list of women bodybuilders who ever competed. Why? because she conveyed a level of muscularity on stage coupled with a unique moral character. Marissa Brown set the standard for  what a woman who will bodybuild should look like.  Ever since learning about Marissa Brown, my view of women bodybuilding has been positive. does Anybody who's been following womens bb for a long time have a good idea what she sounded like ,because I have only been so for 4 years. Enough of that, my concern for writing is what caused her to drop of the scence.

Life probably...she dropped out for the same reasons they all do.

Almost none can do this for an extended time, some get creeped out by shmoes, some can't afford the supplements, the "gear," all the crap that goes along with it.

Some move on, they meet someone and start families.

Some liked the physical challenge of being a bodybuilder, then get enough of it and quit.

Moving on, they all gotta do it sometime.

phillthedrill

I remember reading a female bodybuilder posting a comment on her myspace a few years ago when it was popular saying that as much as she loved the sport, she could no longer afford it as they make little to no money at all competing.  She said she was sorry, but couldn't continue on without filing for bankruptcy, so she had to quit now, and get a regular job.  I just don't remember which female bodybuilder it was, but I just remember reading it.

Hey good posts.going back to what I said she represented the standard for what a woman bodybuilder should look like, in that a woman who bodybuilds should do so, with right training, nutrition and last gain size without steroids. women with muscle would be regarded as a positive if they could get huge without steroids. Women today who look at gaining muscle should look to examples such as Marissa Brown,Cathy Moore who was also huge, not to the drugged up freaks. if that were the case women with muscle would be widespread

groundhogday

Yeah they did and back then it was legal!

smpolcalt0196

yeah ,of course for the training and competition

smpolcalt0196

probably she did take drugs, I shouldn't have said drug use but rather the fact that
Marissa Brown represented not only a significant level of muscle for the time but also
decency, just look at the photos to give an idea. In addition she brought to the stage an attractive You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login at the time, most folks would have revolted to a woman You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login even among fitness competitors, the appeal is not muscle, competition focused  but sexual. Thats the reason for me,as a guy, that I find women's bodybuilding attractive, because  it is a unique thing for women to develop muscles(beyond fitness level) when the general culture views women doing that as unacceptable.

I remember over hearing a major fbb talent talking about how much gear the fitness girls were taking and this was in the 90's.  I think goldbricker nailed it on the head. Life. She got on with hers. As much as we love 'em without direct support the women tend to be more realistic than the guys and they don't stay with it for decades unless they are fully committed and see a way to make money at it.

Marissa should have taken some acting lessons. She would have been great on TV and films as a cop, private detective, or an action star.

Has anyone these images of Marissa Brown (with the black, studded top) from a Dutch web site, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login; You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I've never seen them before, and they look like they were taken much later in her career. They're credited to "Polyglot."
