Both Jaqueline Fuchs (who's conditoning was so bad it was an embarrasment) and Isbaelle Turell (who was a shadow of her former self)
had no business being in the top 5, particualrly over Aleesha Young (most muscular competitor) and Laura Carolan (best conditioning in the show).
Those two only placed so high because they are "names" -- people who follow the sport know who they are. That's how bb'ing operates some times,
unfortunately.

I hope you enjoyed the visit , even if it was disappointing re the results, khuddle.

You have the advantage of being there so not sure if looking a photo's tells the story.
If the camera is not lying, Aleesha looks massive, but I've seen her more defined in other contest pics in the recent past. I'd say she was not at her best, contest wise.
Jay, I would say in contest terms, is not a frequent competitor, so is relatively less known on stage. And although smaller than Aleesha, the photo's show much better definition.

So, not convinced it was about whose face fits at this contest, but just like the judges, we all have our own opinions, and no one person will ever be right.

Bet is was great to be there.

It was great to be there, Timmon. We live in an age when we get to see NEW pics, vids and drawings of these women on a daily
basis. But you have to see them LIVE to get an idea of how incredible they truly are. And btw, when I criticize Jay Fuchs, that's only
because my expectations of her were so high -- I thought she would blow me away like Aleesha Young did. And even if Jay didn't
look that great on stage, I stood next to her in the lobby, marveled at how gorgeous she was in person, admired the vast breadth
of her shoulders, swooned as I studied her rippling arms, then followed her up the stairs back to the pump room, trying to wrap
my brain around the shape of her gigantic glutes, which had the same shape and hardness as a pair of 50 cm caliber cannonballs.
My point is even the weaker competitors at the show were spectacular up close. You can imagine how amazing the stronger
competitors, like Aleesha Young and Laura Carolan (at 51 years old!), were up close.

I'll write more about it in the upcoming days.

[fredzeppelin]

And btw, based on what I saw on stage and in the lobby, my top 3 would have been:

1. Alana Shipp (mind boggling proportions)
2. Laura Carolan (near perfect conditioning)
3. Virginia Sanchez (beautiful proportions and conditioning as well)

Jay Fuchs and Isabelle Turell would not have finished in the top 5.

Thanks khuddle, I envy you! Wish I lived in the US, great contests to go to. Thanks for your report, would really love to hear more, when you have time.
Pictures do not tell the whole story. Love Alana, since I first "discovered " her, and pleased she placed so high, and to hear that you believe she should have won it. Maybe a bit of skin wrinkling on her lower abs cost her a mark or 2...

[fredzeppelin]

timmon, send me a pm and I can try to send you a couple of clips I took in the hotel lobby of these goddesses.
You will absolutely freak out when you see them!

I envy khuddle more since Florida is only two states away from where I live (Mississippi)...I would've be in the show cheering on all the ladies, especially Aleesha, Virginia, Jacqueline (who I didn't think looked bad at all), Isabelle (same opinion as Fuchs), and Margie.

Thanks a million for all of these pics, khuddle!

Many thanks to those posting photos from the contest.  A shame that a good few of the FBB competitors couldn't bring their best conditioning to the show - probably the most difficult aspect of bodybuilding seems to be knowing how to get 'dialled in' just at the right time for a show.  Hopefully (and especially) amongst the less experienced competitors, this lesson can be learned in the same way that Alina Popa did in recent years.
