Chapter 1

The Bianchi house was wrapped in an unusual silence, dense and oppressive, as if the air itself had become too heavy to breathe.

From the outside, the family looked like something out of a perfect photograph: Giovanni Bianchi, a respected corporate lawyer with a prestigious firm; Elena, his elegant and discreet wife, who took care of the house and the children; Marco and Sofia, two smiling kids, the kind of children teachers used as examples.

A perfect picture.

But that evening, that perfection was falling apart.

Giovanni sat in the study, hunched over his desk. The lamp illuminated a narrow strip of white paper in front of him. The pen between his fingers trembled slightly, betraying a tension that years
of courtrooms and billion-euro negotiations had never caused him before.

The sheet of paper was not a simple letter.

It was a goodbye.

A goodbye to their house, their life, and the world they had patiently built over the past fifteen years.

Three days earlier, Giovanni had discovered something he was never meant to see.

At his law firm he represented some of the most important companies in the country. He worked on mergers, acquisitions, and complex corporate structures. It was the kind of work where every detail mattered and where the numbers were so large they almost felt unreal.

But among those documents, hidden inside a series of apparently legitimate financial operations, Giovanni had noticed a network of shell companies and offshore accounts that made no sense.
At first he had assumed it was simple tax evasion.

Then he kept digging.

And what he found changed everything.

Those companies were actually part of a perfectly engineered system designed to launder enormous amounts of money coming from criminal activities: international trafficking, extortion, political corruption. A constant flow of dirty money passing through legitimate businesses before
returning to the financial system as clean capital.

And the people behind the operation were not small-time criminals.

They were powerful men.

Very powerful men.

Giovanni had immediately understood two things.

First: sooner or later someone would realize he had seen too much.

Second: if those people even suspected he might talk, he and his family would be in danger.

He had spent an entire night without sleeping.

The following morning he made the hardest decision of his life.

He handed everything to the authorities.

Documents. Contracts. Recordings.

Everything.

The investigation began immediately and within hours the prosecutors understood the scale of
what Giovanni had uncovered.

This wasn't just a legal case.

It was a bomb.

And that was why, that evening, Giovanni was writing that letter: the official notice with which he would terminate every relationship with his law firm.

The door of the study opened slowly.

Marco stepped inside hesitantly. He was nine years old, but the way he looked at his father already carried a worry no child should ever have.

"Dad... what's happening?"

His voice was clear and innocent.

Too innocent for the weight of what was about to change in their lives.

Giovanni lifted his gaze from the paper. For a moment their eyes met.

He forced the muscles of his face to stay calm.

"I'll explain everything soon, Marco. For now, you just need to stay calm."

The boy nodded, though it was obvious he wasn't convinced.

A few minutes later another presence filled the room.

Elena.

She entered without knocking, stopping at the doorway with her arms crossed. Her long blonde hair was tied back in a loose ponytail and her light eyes were shining with tension.

Her gaze cut across the room like a blade.

"Giovanni. Enough."

Her voice was low but firm.

"You need to talk to me. Now."

Giovanni inhaled slowly.

He knew this moment would come.

"Elena... something very serious has happened."

She didn't speak, but the way she stiffened was enough to show how frightened she was.

"In my work I discovered something involving extremely dangerous people. People running massive criminal operations using legitimate companies as cover."

Elena's eyes widened slightly.

"What did you do?"

"I gave everything to the authorities."

The silence that followed seemed to swallow the room.

"Giovanni..." she whispered.

"The prosecutors opened an immediate investigation. But that means the people involved might
discover who started all of this."

Elena took a step forward.

"And us?"

Giovanni lowered his gaze for a moment.

When he spoke again, his voice was heavier.

"For that reason... we have officially been placed in the witness protection program."

Elena froze.

As if time itself had stopped.

Giovanni slowly placed the pen on the desk.

"We will have to change everything."

One heartbeat.

"Names."

Another.

"Identities."

Then he finished, with a calm he did not truly feel.

"Our entire story."

Elena said nothing.

But a slow shiver ran down her spine.

Chapter 2

The "Bianchis'" new residence—or whatever surname was now printed on their cold, fresh passports—was an imposing structure situated in a suburban area where wealth was measured in perfectly manicured hedges and discreet security cameras.

The house spanned three levels of aseptic luxury. The ground floor was an open space dominated by a kitchen of steel and marble, ready to host dinners that would never take place. On the first floor, the children's bedrooms had been furnished with surgical precision: superhero posters for Marco, pastel tones for Sofia—everything too new, too devoid of the scent of actual life. The master bedroom was an expanse of grey silk sheets, while a guest room on the second floor remained closed like a useless shrine, waiting for relatives who would never receive an invitation.
But it was the basement that represented the true, unsettling heart of the home.
When Elena descended the stairs for the first time, the air changed. The lavender scent of the upper floors vanished, replaced by the acrid tang of industrial rubber and cold metal. The basement wasn't a simple cellar; it was a bunker dedicated to the cult of the flesh. It was an extreme bodybuilding gym that would have been the envy of a Las Vegas professional. Glossy black steel racks, Olympic barbells ready to flex under superhuman loads, and a parade of the latest generation of machines: leg presses inclined at 45 degrees, massive hack-squat stations, and rows of rowing machines that looked like medieval torture devices. Tons of cast-iron plates were stacked with manic order, their dull reflections promising nothing but exhaustion and pain.
Elena was repulsed by it. This place wasn't built for "staying in shape." It was a factory for metamorphosis.

The following afternoon, the buzz of the intercom shattered the silence. Two men in dark suits, their faces so common they were forgettable the moment you looked away, entered the kitchen.

"Mrs. Bianchi. We have a proposal for you."

Elena received them among the lacquered cabinets, nervously clutching her shoulders. The agents didn't aim for courtesy. They didn't sit. The older one, a man with ice-colored eyes named Vane, placed a black briefcase on the table. The click of the locks echoed like a gunshot.
Inside was a catalog of applied pharmacology: amber vials, sterile syringes sealed in clear plastic, glass tubes, and thick medical files.

"You are the weak link in the chain," began the younger one, Miller, his voice flat and robotic.

"Your husband has a common physique. The children's features will change as they grow. But you... you are too visible. Too elegant. Too much 'Elena Bianchi'."

Elena felt a shiver race down her spine. She tightened her silk robe, suddenly perceiving her own femininity as a target painted on her skin. "What do you mean?"

Vane opened a medical folder, sliding a series of high-resolution photographs and digital renderings across the marble. Elena felt her breath catch. These weren't athletes. They were experiments. Women with hypertrophied musculature, masses of flesh that defied biology. Shoulders as wide as a wrestler's, bull necks that erased the jawline, pectorals hard and striated like steel breastplates that had swallowed every trace of breasts.

The faces, however, were the worst part. Transformed by testosterone and hormones, they showed protruding cheekbones, square and heavy jaws, and skin that had become thick and porous.

"We will build a new body," Vane explained with the calm of an architect illustrating a demolition project. "Yours. An armor of muscle and virilized traits that no one could ever associate with the woman you are today. This isn't about aesthetics. It's about disappearing inside a new species."

Elena stared at one shot in particular: a naked woman, bent over a barbell. Her skin was stretched to the breaking point, veins emerging like snakes beneath the surface. The most brutal detail wasn't hidden: the abuse of androgens had caused such virilization that the clitoris, swollen and abnormal, resembled a small male phallus. It was a total distortion of female nature.
A wave of nausea washed over her. Elena covered her mouth, feeling acid rise in her throat. She turned away sharply, as if those images could contaminate her just by looking at them.

"But... what is this madness?" she whispered with a broken voice, tears stinging her eyes. "You want to turn me into a monster? I am not an experiment! I could never... I will never accept something like this!"

"It is the safest way," Miller replied, impassive. "The cartel hitmen are looking for a blonde, refined, graceful woman. They will never look for a... biological anomaly from a bodybuilding freak show. Your current nature is your family's death warrant."

"I am not an object you can reshape!" Elena hissed, turning back to them. Anger tried to mask her terror, but her hands were shaking violently.

Vane took a step forward, his shadow lengthening over her. "Tomorrow morning, you will report to the central offices of the Protection Unit. There, we will administer the first protocols and explain the diet and training required. It will be your decision, of course."

He paused, letting the silence weigh as heavy as the iron in the basement.

"But think carefully, Elena. Those men know who you are. If someone recognizes you at a supermarket, or in a park, they won't just kill you. Marco and Sofia are young. They wouldn't know how to hide while their mother is being taken away. Is your vanity worth your children's lives?"

Elena took the hit like a punch to the stomach. Her jaw trembled, but she found no words.

The two agents closed the briefcase and walked toward the exit without another word. The sound of their footsteps faded down the hall, leaving her alone in the silence of the perfect kitchen.

Elena slumped into a chair, hands pressed to her chest as if trying to protect her own heart from an imminent invasion. She already felt violated. The idea of those hormones coursing through her veins, turning her soft flesh into stone, altering her features and her deepest intimacy, was a thought that stole her breath.
And yet, as she stared into the void, the thought of Marco and Sofia haunted her. The disgust hadn't vanished, but beneath her skin, like a silent parasite, the idea of the transformation had begun to take root. It wasn't desire. It was the realization that the "old" Elena was already dead, and that the new one would be born in pain, iron, and testosterone.

Chapter 3

The Witness Protection Program's operational headquarters had no signage. It was a shell of reinforced concrete and tinted glass in a derelict industrial district—a place designed to be forgotten. Inside, the air tasted of the metallic tang of forced ventilation. Elena walked down the corridor, following a strip of gray linoleum that seemed to stretch into infinity. Each of her footsteps produced a sharp, isolated sound that died against the soundproofed walls.

Office 12-B was a cell of bureaucratic efficiency. Roberto Mantovani was waiting for her behind a desk of brushed metal. He did not stand, nor did he offer even a hint of a smile. His eyes were those of a man who had spent his life managing other people's catastrophes.

"Sit down, Elena."

It wasn't an invitation; it was a directive. Elena obeyed, feeling the rigid chair against her back.

Her hands, interlaced over her purse, were white with tension.

Mantovani opened a dull cardboard folder. He pulled out three sheets of paper and arranged them on the table with the precision of a card dealer. "This is the Somatic and Metabolic

Reconfiguration protocol. It is a technical annex to the protection program. Signing here implies your full awareness of the risks and your voluntary acceptance."

Elena looked down. The words on the pages seemed to vibrate under the cold neon light. Exogenous administration of androgens... Induced muscular hypertrophy... Alteration of secondary sexual characteristics...

"It's... it's absurd," she whispered, her voice struggling to leave her dry throat. "You're talking about me as if I were a piece of clay. 'Accelerated hormonal treatment.' 'Progressive depersonalization.' These are clinical terms used to describe the destruction of a person."
She raised her eyes to him, searching for a glimmer of empathy. "I can't do this. I don't want to become... a laboratory creature."

Mantovani didn't flinch. He crossed his fingers on the desk, observing her with a stillness she found almost cruel.

"Elena, let's move past the rhetoric," he said, his tone low and monotonic. "Your resistance is a correct biological reaction. Your body is trying to protect itself. But my job is to protect your life and that of your family. And those two things, right now, are in conflict."
He leaned slightly forward. "You are tall, blonde, you have gentle features and the posture of a high-class woman. You are a figure that catches the eye. If a hitman walked into a shopping mall tomorrow, he would pick you out in three seconds among a thousand people. Even if you dyed your hair. Even if you wore glasses."

Elena trembled. The silence of the office became oppressive.

"What do you prefer, Elena?" Mantovani continued, without breaking eye contact. "Living with the terror that every shadow around the corner is the man who has come to slit Marco and Sofia's throats while you stand by helplessly... or looking in the mirror and seeing a stranger? A woman no one would ever look for, because no one would believe that Elena Bianchi could turn into a... mass of muscle and testosterone?"

Elena felt a wave of nausea rise in her chest. The image of her children hit her with the violence of a physical blow. She clenched her fists under the table, her nails digging into her palms until it hurt.

"It's inhuman," she hissed. "You want to erase me. My face, my voice... even my scent will change, won't it?"

"Exactly," Mantovani confirmed, impassive. "And that is precisely what will keep you alive. Unrecognizability isn't achieved with makeup; it requires a profound metamorphosis. You must become a different species."

Elena stared at the ballpoint pen resting on the papers. Time seemed to dilate. She saw her children's faces, Giovanni's smile, the life they once had. Everything was lost. Only survival remained, at the cost of her own identity.
With a sudden, almost violent motion, she grabbed the pen. Her signature was a trembling scrawl—a surrender written in black and white.

"I'm signing for them," she said, her voice turning firm through the sheer force of the hatred she felt for the situation. "Only for them."

Mantovani collected the papers, checked the signatures, and snapped the folder shut. For a moment, his lips twitched as if he wanted to offer a word of comfort, but professional discipline won out.

"Go to the third floor. Office 3-C," he said, returning to his aseptic tone. "Dr. Moreschi is expecting you. He will give you the nutritional plan, the pharmacological protocol, and the first cycle of substances. You will begin tonight."

He stood up, pointing toward the door. "From this moment on, Elena, every fiber of your body will begin to change. Do not look back. The woman you were is dying. Let it happen."

Elena stood up, her legs heavy as lead. She walked out of the office without looking back. She touched her cheekbone with her fingers, one last gesture of farewell to her own skin, knowing that very soon, under that same hand, she would feel only the hardness of muscle and the fire of hormones.

The metamorphosis had begun.

Chapter 4

The light in the examination room was cold. Elena was sitting on the edge of the examination table; the rustling of the paper sheet beneath her was the only sound in that oppressive silence. Dr. Moreschi wasn't wearing a traditional white coat, but a smoke-gray scrubs uniform. There were no diplomas on the walls, only turned-off monitors and stainless-steel cabinets.

Moreschi closed his tablet with a sharp tap and sat down across from her, maintaining a professional yet close distance.

"Elena," he began, his voice firm and devoid of emotional inflection. "Coordinator Mantovani has spoken to you about the necessity of this protocol. My task is to explain the biochemical reality of what will happen. This is not a therapy; it is a controlled demolition of your current phenotype."

Elena nodded slightly, her fingers clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white. "Demolition," she repeated, almost to herself.

"We'll use doses of androgens and anabolic substances twenty times higher than physiological male levels," Moreschi continued, as if reading a shopping list. "The goal isn't to turn you into an athlete. It's to make you biologically unrecognizable. Within eighteen months, your muscle structure will be hypertrophied to such an extent that it will alter your posture, your gait, and your fundamental silhouette."

"What will happen to my facial features?" she asked, her voice trembling despite her best efforts.

"The virilization will be profound. The masseter muscles of the jaw will develop, giving the face a more angular appearance. The brow ridges will appear more pronounced. But the most significant change will be in her voice: the vocal cords will thicken irreversibly. It will become deep and hoarse—a tone no one would ever associate with Elena Bianchi."

He paused, observing her reaction. Elena stared into space, trying to process that abstraction of herself.

"The female adipose tissue will disappear," the doctor continued. "The breasts will be reabsorbed and replaced by rigid pectoral plates. The skin will become thicker, oilier. The extremities—hands and feet—will undergo a thickening of the soft tissues. They will become... instruments of strength. Calloused, heavy."

Elena felt a wave of nausea. "And what about... the rest?"

Moreschi did not look away. "Chemistry isn't selective. Hypertrophy will also affect the genitals. The clitoris will undergo permanent macrohypertrophy. It will become a visible erectile organ. This, combined with the administration of DHT, will trigger a compulsive libido."

Elena jerked her head up. "Compulsive?"

"Your brain will be flooded with signals of constant arousal. It won't be a psychological desire, but a biochemical imperative. You'll feel the need for physical release several times a day, every day. It will become an obsession that interferes with your thoughts. Your sensitivity will be such that the mere friction of your clothes during training could push you to the limit."

"It's a necessity," Elena hissed, tears finally trickling down her eyelashes.

"It's a safeguard," he retorted, coldly. "Added to this will be mood swings we call 'Roid Rage.' Sudden aggression, extreme irritability. Superior physical strength that demands to be used. You'll feel like a spring constantly under tension."

Elena stood up slowly, her legs heavy. She walked over to the mirror above the stainless steel sink. She looked at her light eyes, the soft curve of her neck. She tried to commit them to memory.

"When do we start?"

"Tomorrow morning. First round of injections and setting the workload at the gym. You'll have to push your body beyond every limit of pain to make the chemistry take hold."

Moreschi stood up and headed for the door, but paused with his hand on the doorknob. He turned, and for the first time his expression seemed almost human, or perhaps just cynical.

"There's one detail the manuals don't mention, Elena. But I've seen it in every subject who's undergone this protocol."

She turned to look at him, suspended in mid-step.

"At first, you'll feel disgust. You'll feel like a monster. But then, dopamine and testosterone will create a feedback loop. You'll start to enjoy your own strength. The muscle 'pump' will become addictive. Seeing your veins bulge, feeling your muscles press against your skin... it'll start to give you a dark, almost erotic pleasure. You'll masturbate while looking at your new muscles in the mirror, aroused by your own transformation."

"No," she said, with a surge of pride. "Never."

Moreschi gave an imperceptible, joyless smile. "Biology always wins out over willpower, Elena. The day you see your husband looking at you with fear, and that fear triggers an uncontrollable arousal in you... that's when you'll know the transformation is working. You won't just be unrecognizable to others. You'll be a stranger to yourself. And you'll love that stranger to death."

He left, closing the door with a metallic click.

Elena was left alone, her heartbeat pounding in her ears like the beat of a war drum. She looked at herself one last time in the mirror, knowing that the image it reflected was already a ghost. Beneath her skin, iron and fire were already waiting to flare up.

Wookey

Great start. Interesting concept. What happened to her husband? Is he undergoing a similar process?

Lattanzio87

Chapter 5

The house was enveloped in an unnatural silence, the kind of stillness that precedes a collapse. Upstairs, Marco and Sofia had drifted off to sleep.

Elena was sitting at the kitchen table. The light from the range hood cast long shadows on her hands, which were still clenched around a black plastic folder. She was wearing one of Giovanni's sweatshirts.

She heard Giovanni's footsteps before she saw him. He stopped in the doorway, watching his wife's silhouette.

"Elena?" he murmured, approaching cautiously.

She didn't answer right away. She slid the folder across the granite countertop. "It's over, Giovanni. I've signed everything."

He sat down across from her. The sound of the chair scraping across the floor seemed like a thunderclap. "You signed," he repeated, his voice heavy with unbearable weight. "So there's no other way."

"None. Mantovani was clear." Elena opened the folder. She pulled out a stack of technical reports printed on matte paper. They weren't just photos; they were clinical reports of "previous patients."

She laid them out on the table with methodical slowness.

Giovanni looked down. The images showed women transformed into blocks of striated muscle, with backs so broad they distorted their posture and bull-like necks.

He looked away, covering his mouth with one hand. "My God, Elena... this is... it's terrible."

"It's called 'Reconfiguration,' Giovanni," she said, a hint of bitterness cutting through her voice.  "Dr. Moreschi explained everything to me. I won't just lose my appearance. I'll lose my chemistry. They'll inject me with massive doses of testosterone and trenbolone. My breasts will disappear; they'll turn into hard muscle. My voice will become a man's hoarse voice. And then there's... the intimate aspect."

Giovanni looked up, his eyes glistening with terror.

"My body will be in a state of constant chemical arousal," she continued, staring him straight in the eyes, forcing him to share in that horror. "The clitoris will become... a protrusion. Moreschi says the libido will be uncontrollable. That I'll like it. He says I'll start craving my own transformation, that I'll become addicted to the pain of training and the swelling of my muscles."

Giovanni shook his head, his hands trembling. "They can't force you into this. It's not protection, it's an experiment."

"It's the price for our children's lives!" she exploded in an angry whisper, leaning toward him. "It's the price for your idealism, Giovanni! You denounced that system; you put us in this situation! And now I have to stop being a woman!"

The accusation hung between them, icy. Giovanni took the blow, lowering his head. The silence grew heavy again.

"You're right," he said after what seemed like an eternity. "It's my fault. All of this... every ounce of muscle you'll be forced to build... it's my fault."

He stood up and walked around the table. He placed his hands on her shoulders, but Elena remained stiff as a statue.

"But I swear to you," he continued, his voice breaking. "I won't leave you. I'll stay, Elena. Until the very end."

Elena burst into silent tears, her shoulders heaving beneath the oversized sweatshirt. She turned and buried her face in his chest, clinging to his shirt. Giovanni held her close, feeling the warmth of her soft skin, aware that this might be the last time he would ever embrace the woman he had married.

"I'm scared," she murmured against his chest. "I'm scared that Moreschi is right. I'm scared that, in the end, I'll actually like becoming a monster."

Giovanni didn't answer. He couldn't lie to her. He kissed her blonde hair, closing his eyes, while in his mind the image of his wife overlapped with that of the photos on the table: a massive, powerful, and deformed shadow looming over their future.

The crack between them had become a chasm. And tomorrow, at eight in the morning, they would begin to fall into it.

Chapter 6

The first three months were a biochemical upheaval. It wasn't just her body that was changing; her very perception of reality was becoming denser, charged with a constant electrical tension.

That morning, on the last day of the first trimester, Elena woke up at 6:02 a.m. She felt heat radiating from the nape of her neck down to her heels, a vibration beneath her skin that wouldn't let her rest any longer. She slipped out of the sheets, careful not to brush against Giovanni; she feared the warmth of her own skin might wake him.

In the bathroom, Elena undressed and stood there looking at herself. In ninety days, her silhouette had been literally redrawn. Her shoulders, once sloping and graceful, were now two globes of striated muscle framing a noticeably thicker neck. Veins, like strands of blue silk, ran along her biceps and down toward her forearms, where the skin appeared thinner and tauter.
But it was her torso that showed the most drastic change. Her breasts, once full, had been significantly reduced by the growth of her pectoral muscles.

She looked down. The protocol had spared nothing. Between her thighs, the hypertrophy was evident. The clitoris, now over a centimeter long and constantly engorged, protruded forcefully, a deep red color. It had become the epicenter of her physical existence: a raw nerve that reacted to every breath, every touch, every thought.

The arousal was no longer a mental desire; it was a hydraulic pressure. Under the showerhead, as she washed herself with quick movements, the accidental brush of her fingers against that bulge made her gasp. She closed her eyes, pressing her forehead against the cold tiles. Her body demanded a release that her mind still scorned, but which she could not resist. It was a quick, almost violent act, driven more by mechanical necessity than by pleasure. When it was over, her heartbeat thundered in her ears, deep and heavy.

She dressed quickly: compression leggings and a technical top that struggled to contain the new width of her back.

In the kitchen, the hum of the coffee machine brought her back to domestic reality. Sofia, who had been the first to come downstairs, stared at her mother as she poured the milk.

"Mom... why do your pants look so tight?" she asked with the bluntness typical of her age. "Your butt is huge. It looks like a rock."

Elena forced a smile, feeling her heart race. "It's the workout, Sofia. Muscles grow, that's all."

Marco arrived shortly after, already ready for school. He sat down at the table and watched Elena as she bent down to pick up a backpack. "Mom, how much do you weigh now? Yesterday I tried pushing you just for fun and you didn't budge an inch."

"Seventy kilos, Marco," she replied, trying to keep her tone natural.

"They're muscles," Sofia interjected, curiously touching her mother's calf. "But... look at her feet, Marco. They're different."

Elena stiffened. "What do you mean, honey?"

"They're big," Marco said, stepping closer. "The veins look like tubes. And they seem... longer."

The silence that followed was broken only by the sound of crunching cereal. Elena felt cold sweat trickling down her spine. She felt like she was being watched, like a strange animal in her own home.

"I need to be strong to protect you," she said finally, her voice coming out slightly hoarser than usual.

Sofia tilted her head. "Your voice sounds strange this morning. Does your throat hurt?"

"Just a little tired. Come on, finish your breakfast or we'll be late."

After dropping them off at school, Elena returned home. The silence of the villa was the only place where she didn't have to pretend. She went down to the basement, where the smell of rubber and steel from the gym welcomed her like a familiar embrace.

That was her sanctuary. There, the monster she was becoming was allowed to exist.

She began her back workout. Ninety kilos on the barbell for the row. A weight she wouldn't have even dreamed of lifting three months earlier. She gripped the bar, feeling the calluses on her palms that were now a part of her.

One. Two. Three. Blood began to surge into her muscles, swelling them until her shirt stretched to the breaking point. With every repetition, she felt the fibers in her back expand and contract like steel wings. But along with the strength came the wave.

The massive rush of blood to her large muscles drew heat to her pelvis as well. The pressure of her leggings against her swollen clitoris became torture. With every pull of the barbell, the friction increased. It was no longer just fatigue; it was a short circuit between pain and pleasure.

On the eighth rep, her body rebelled. An electric shiver started in her lower abdomen and shot up her spine. Elena let out a deep sound, a guttural vibration that was anything but feminine. The barbell fell onto the rubber mat with a dull thud.

She doubled over, hands on her knees, gasping. Her thighs trembled violently. She felt the sudden, involuntary release, a contraction that left her drained and throbbing at the same time.

She remained motionless for several minutes, sweat dripping from her chin onto the floor. She turned toward the wall mirror. She saw a massive woman, with shiny skin, hardened features, and a gaze she didn't recognize. But beneath the horror, for the first time, she felt a thrill of power. She was no longer the cartel's victim. She was no longer the fragile woman who had to run away.

She looked at her swollen biceps, the veins throbbing. For a moment, the image of the "monster" no longer seemed like a nightmare to her, but like a suit of armor. And that armor, however misshapen, was giving her a sense of invulnerability that was becoming more necessary than the air she breathed.

Elena straightened her back, wiping her mouth with the back of her calloused hand. The transformation was well past the halfway point. And the scariest part wasn't what others saw, but how much she was beginning to crave the next step.

Chapter 7

Elena was sitting in her car in front of the school, her hands clenched around the steering wheel. She could feel the calm yet powerful beat of her heart, a low-pitched rhythm that seemed to make the steering column vibrate. She was wearing an oversized dark gray tracksuit, bought specifically to hide the unnatural thickness of her torso and arms. Even while stationary, she felt her body like an engine idling: warm, responsive, ready to explode.

Marco and Sofia came out of the gate. Marco, the older one, walked with his backpack slung over one shoulder; Sofia ran alongside him. As soon as they got into the car, the atmosphere changed. The space inside the car suddenly seemed smaller.

"Hi, Mom," said Sofia, climbing into the back seat. She paused for a moment, staring at the back of her mother's neck. "Did you change your tracksuit?"

"Yes, Sofia! This one's more comfortable!" replied Elena, putting the car in gear. Her voice was steady, but its pitch had dropped an octave, becoming a guttural vibration she could no longer fully mask.

They drove off in silence. Marco watched his mother's profile in the rearview mirror. He noticed her jawline, now more pronounced, and the way her neck joined her shoulders without any soft curve.

"Mom," Marco began, with the caution of someone who senses something strange. "Dad says this is our new life. But you... what do you do for work now? And why do you have to train so much?"

Elena kept her eyes on the road. She knew she could no longer hide behind vague excuses. "I'm a professional bodybuilder."

The two children fell silent for a few seconds, trying to make sense of the term.

"And what do they do?" Sofia asked.

"They push their bodies to the limit," Elena explained, choosing her words with clinical precision. "My job is based on building muscle through training and nutrition. It's an extreme discipline. And it requires me to become much bigger and stronger than before."

"But how much bigger?" pressed Marco. "Because you already look... different. You almost look like a man, from behind."

Elena gripped the steering wheel. The truth of those words struck her like a blade, but she didn't flinch. "I'll become whatever it takes to excel in this field. It's a total transformation."

"But will you go back to the way you were?" Sofia asked in a whisper.

"No, Sofia. Some changes will stay. But I'll always be me. I'll always be your mom."

"That's a lie," Elena thought as she turned into the driveway. "I'm lying to you so I don't terrify you. I won't be the same anymore. The rage I feel pushing beneath the surface, the chemistry that's rewriting my brain... I'll become a predator. And I pray to God I never become a danger to you."

Once inside, the children took refuge in the living room. Elena headed to the kitchen. The hunger she felt wasn't a mere peckishness; it was a biological imperative bordering on agony.

She opened the refrigerator. There were no snacks, only labeled clear plastic containers. She took out three ounces of chicken, six egg whites, and a bowl of brown rice. She sat down at the table and began to eat, with rapid, almost animalistic movements. She felt the heat radiating from her body: the thermogenesis induced by the substances and her diet made her sweat even at rest.

Marco walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water and stopped to watch her. "Mom... how much do you eat?"

Elena kept chewing, feeling a strange irritation rising in her chest. Every comment, every observation about her condition felt like an attack. "My metabolism is revved up, Marco. I need fuel."

"Yeah, but that's absurd," he retorted with an incredulous smile.

The word "ridiculous" triggered something violent. It wasn't a conscious choice; it was a chemical reflex. Elena slammed her fork down on the table with such force that it cracked the wood. She jumped to her feet, and the chair flew backward, crashing against the cabinet with a sharp thud.

"It's not ridiculous!" she thundered. Her voice was deep, cavernous, a roar that silenced the boy. "It's my job! It's what I have to do, and you haven't the slightest idea what I'm going through!"

Marco took a step back, pale. He had never seen his mother's eyes like that before. They were dilated, filled with a primal fury.

"Mom... I'm sorry," he whispered, visibly shaken.

Elena stared at him for a few seconds, her chest rising and falling rhythmically beneath her tight tracksuit. Then, with a superhuman effort of will, she looked away. "Go to your room, Marco. Now."

He didn't need to be told twice and ran off.

Elena was left alone in the silent kitchen. Her heart was pounding in her temples. She could feel the blood pulsing through the veins in her arms, the muscles in her neck stiff as violin strings. And in that moment, between the guilt and the labored breathing, she sensed something terrifying.

She had liked it.

That explosion of power, that feeling of absolute dominance, that rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins like fire... it was intoxicating. The anger wasn't just a side effect; it was a source of energy.

"Moreschi was right," she thought, looking at her hands, which were still trembling slightly. "I'm enjoying this."

She straightened her chair with a slow motion. She no longer felt tired. She only felt the need to go down to the gym and lift weights until her muscles screamed. The transformation was no longer just on her skin. It had entered her, and it was beginning to demand control.

Chapter 8

The basement had become an ecosystem of its own. The air was thick with a pungent odor—a mixture of heated rubber, ozone from the treadmill's motor, and Elena's heavy, almost metallic sweat.

Elena stepped onto the treadmill. She was wearing her usual gray tracksuit, but underneath there was nothing but the bare essentials. Her body, after the weight session, was already on fire. She pressed "START" and began walking, then jogging, until her pace turned into a brisk run.
14 km/h. Then 15. Then 16.

Her legs moved with a mechanical, relentless cadence. She didn't feel the usual burning fatigue in her lungs; on the contrary, every breath seemed to nourish her muscles with an efficiency that frightened her. Her thighs, now broad and solid, rubbed lightly against each other with every step, a friction that fueled a specific heat between her legs.

Beneath her loose pants, her cotton panties were already soaked. She could feel it: her clitoris, stiff and protruding from the effect of the androgens, pressed against the fabric with every stride. It was a continuous, involuntary stimulation, punctuated by the movement of her quadriceps. It wasn't conventional erotic pleasure; it was an electric tension, an overload signal that started in her pelvis and traveled up her spine, making her run even more aggressive.

"More," she thought. "Faster."

She increased her speed to 17 km/h. She could feel her pectoral muscles contracting beneath her sweatshirt, her stiff trapezius muscles supporting her neck. In that moment, she wasn't a mother, she wasn't a wife, she wasn't a witness under protection. She was a supercharged organism searching for a limit she could no longer find.

At the sixty-minute mark, she pressed "STOP." The silence that followed was deafening. Elena stood on the stationary treadmill, her hands on the handrails, her chest rising and falling. Sweat trickled down her back, soaking the waistband of her pants. The sensation between her legs was now an unbearable pressure.

She went into the bathroom. She pulled off her tracksuit with abrupt movements. The clothes fell to the floor, heavy with moisture.

Under the shower, the hot water initially felt freezing compared to the temperature of her skin. She leaned against the tiles, letting the steam fill her lungs. When she looked down at herself, reality hit her hard. Her breasts were now two flat muscular slabs, topped by pulsing veins. Her belly was furrowed by bands of muscle that never fully relaxed.
And then there was that piece of new flesh.

She touched it almost fearfully. Her clitoris was swollen, taut—a protrusion that no longer belonged to the female anatomy she remembered. It was elastic, responsive, and at the slightest touch, it snapped to attention.
Elena slid slowly toward the shower tray, sitting down with her back against the wall. Her legs parted on their own.

Elena's fingers, calloused from the barbell, began working on that mutation with a frenzy she didn't recognize as her own. There was no tenderness. It was a biochemical need to release the tension built up from testosterone and running.
"Ah... mmmh..."

Elena's voice, now a hoarse, deep baritone, echoed off the tiles. Every movement of her fingers sent shocks that made her biceps contract and her back arch.

When the orgasm came, it wasn't a wave; it was an explosion. Her body tensed like a violin string, the muscles in her thighs turned to marble, and a guttural, almost animalistic cry escaped her throat, muffled by the sound of the water.

She remained motionless for an indefinite time, her head resting on her knees, as the water began to cool.

She stepped out of the shower feeling drained, but with a dark awareness weighing on her chest. She dried herself with slow movements, observing her own hands: large, strong, with short nails and thick knuckles.

She put on an old T-shirt of Giovanni's and some baggy sweatpants. She didn't wear any underwear; the rough fabric against her most sensitive parts reminded her with every step of what had happened.

She climbed the stairs, feeling the weight of her seventy kilos of muscle. Every step was a reminder of her newfound strength, but also of her newfound loneliness.

She entered the bedroom and lay down on her side in the dark.

The silence of the house was broken only by the beating of her heart, a heavy rhythm that seemed to say: you are no longer you, you are no longer you. She waited for the sound of Giovanni's key in the lock. She both longed for it and feared it. Because she knew that when he looked into her eyes, he would see the predator taking the place of the woman he had loved.

Chapter 9

The front door clicked at 7:02 PM. Elena, lying in the semi-darkness of the bedroom, recognized every sound: the rustle of the coat being hung up, the slightly heavier-than-usual step on the parquet. Then, silence.

Giovanni climbed the stairs slowly. When he entered the room, the dim light of the bedside lamp bathed him from the side. In those three months of witness protection, he had become a different man, but in the opposite way to her. Under the agents' advice, he had let a dark, thick beard grow to camouflage his facial features; his hair, now long and unkempt, fell over his tired eyes. Constant stress had driven him to seek refuge in food: he had gained at least five kilos, accumulating a soft bloat on his abdomen and face that made him clumsy and weighed down.

He sat on the edge of the bed. The mattress gave way under his weight. Elena was curled up, wearing one of his old t-shirts that, on her, stretched unnaturally across her shoulders.

"Hey," he whispered. His voice was hoarse, tired.

Elena didn't move. She stared at the wall, her still-damp hair cooling the back of her neck. "It was a hard day, Gio. More than usual."

He placed a hand on her shoulder. Beneath the cotton of the shirt, he felt the hardness of the trapezius and the deltoid, two solid masses that showed no sign of relaxing. "Do you want to talk about it? The kids are downstairs watching TV."

Elena sat up, slowly.

"Today I lost control," she said, her voice vibrating in a low tone. "I was in the kitchen with Marco. He asked me a stupid question, one of those observations kids make... and I exploded. I didn't just scold him, Gio. I screamed at him with a fury that doesn't belong to me. I saw the terror in his eyes. I scared him."

Giovanni lowered his gaze to his own hands, fidgeting with his fingers. "It's the pressure, Elena. It's normal to have breakdowns."

"No, it's not just the pressure," she retorted, finally turning to look at him. Elena's eyes were glossy, charged with a dark electricity. "After they left, I went down to the gym. I ran for an hour. At a crazy speed. I felt the blood pumping, I felt my muscles responding... and I liked it. I felt a sense of omnipotence that made me forget everything else."

She paused, taking a deep breath that made her massive chest swell. Giovanni remained silent, sensing that the heart of the matter hadn't arrived yet.

"Then I went to the shower," she continued, lowering her voice to a whisper. "I masturbated. My body... is changing in ways I can no longer ignore. Between my legs, Gio... my clitoris has grown, it's become big, extremely sensitive. It's like I have a new, domineering organ. I masturbated with a violence that shocked me. And the orgasm... I've never felt anything like it in my whole life. It was devastating. I've never experienced pleasure like that."

She covered her face with her calloused hands. "I felt atrocious shame immediately after. But the truth, the one that is killing me, is that while it was happening... I didn't want it to stop. I like this strength. I like this responsiveness. But I'm afraid that this woman, this thing I'm becoming, will end up devouring the mother and wife that I am."

Giovanni took her hands, pulling them away from her face. He looked at her deeply. In front of him, he no longer saw the slender woman he had married, but a modern Amazon, a creature of muscles and enhanced impulses. He, with his unkempt beard and his body weighed down by stress, suddenly felt small, fragile.

"Elena, listen to me," he said, trying to give firmness to his voice. "What you're feeling is just the effect of the protocols. It's chemistry. But it doesn't change who you are deep down. You're strong, yes. Perhaps stronger than we anticipated. But you're still you."

"Will you still want me, Gio?" she asked, looking at her reflection in his eyes. "Will you want me when I'm even bigger? When my voice is even deeper and my body has nothing soft left to offer you?"
Giovanni hesitated for only a fraction of a second, a blink that she didn't catch. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead, smelling the soap mixed with the more pungent scent of her new metabolism.

"Of course I'll want you," he whispered.

But as he held her in his arms, feeling her back as wide and solid as an oak tree, Giovanni felt a shiver of cold. He wasn't sure of his own promise. His wife's body was becoming something that intimidated him.
Elena closed her eyes, resting her head on his shoulder. For an instant, the chemical fury subsided, leaving space for a fragile sense of peace.
