Is consistency more important than intensity?

Would you rather train at 70 percent effort five days a week
or go all out twice and burn out by Thursday?

Does showing up matter more than pushing limits?
Or does real progress only happen when you go hard?

Curious how people here think about this, especially if you've been training for a while.

Great question. In my experience, consistency wins almost every time.

Training at ~70% effort five days a week compounds over time. You recover better, reduce injury risk, and you actually accumulate more total quality work. Most long-term progress in fitness comes from months and years of showing up, not a few heroic sessions.

That said, intensity still has a place. Once you've built the habit and a solid base, pushing hard occasionally is what drives adaptation. But if every session is "all out," it's usually not sustainable for most people.

I tend to think of it like this:

- Consistency builds the foundation

- Intensity sharpens the edge

Without consistency, intensity just leads to burnout. But without any intensity, progress can eventually stall.

The sweet spot is probably consistent training with planned hard days, not random all-out efforts.

the more intensity, the less frequency of course, but not less consistency..

the more frequency (think consistency and frequency are a bit mixed up in this tread..?!) the more
endurance you train, the more intensity /less frequency you focuse more on mass/power

if you train full intensity without pause ,you`ll end in overtraining & probably injuries :
the more you get older ,above all you remain a "natural" ahlethe

....thought that has become common knowledge..?!
