I recall French mag "Le Monde du Muscle" (December 1997 Edition) on their Ms Olympia 97 report and Vickie Gates: "Plus balèze qu'un poids lourd aux Championnats de France" ("Stronger than a Heavyweight competitor at the French Nationals"). The hyperbolic praise still makes me laugh to this day as amateur heavyweight classes during that period were around 95 kg (209 lbs) and Vickie wasn't that heavy. But it transcribed exactly my suspension of belief when I opened the mag and spotted her huge frame in the pics.
