Thanks for the great update oriander2000.
Glad Lisa is back on the scene big time, and doing very well.
Interesting her change to NAC. There is concern amongst athletes in IFBB Elite (which is the dominant branch of IFBB in Europe) that Physique may be dropped next year. Certainly, they prefer a softer look, and the lesser divisions get more coverage than Physique, which is not considered the division to aspire to. Lisa may not do as well as she has if she tries Elite.
Great coverage, thanks.

I'm not surprised, since this Figure Division basically covers all that Physique is meant to cover...and imho, it does it better. Aesthetically and performance-wise (flexing).

Look at LMS: muscular, but not uberbuff; ripped and defined (she doesn't sport a single gram of fat!), but not ultra-dehydrated look. Her proportions remind me of Autumn Swansen-Edwards, with less muscular development.

Much better than Physique, which today looks like "The FBB list was full, so I entered here" Division.

Yes, I agree oriander2000, I think NAC have a good balance with their divisions. I think NAC has come out of NABBA, I may be wrong, but I have always thought NABBA is a good organisation. Physique in IFBB, is a copy of Figure in NABBA / NAC, but, being IFBB, is losing it's way (again).
Not sure what you mean when you say "Much better than Physique, which today looks like "The FBB list was full, so I entered here" Division." as in Elite there is no FBB list, and in Pro League, the list is seldomly  full.
There is much confusion in Elite as to what is required. We saw in Greece, Physique women asked to perform Abs pose. Abs pose is not a requirement for Physique Elite, but it is for Pro League.
and one minute the dry look is preferred, next contest, less defined women are preferred. And the athletes get conflicting feed back like " You were too dry" when an even dryer athlete places higher (similar symmetry but dryer) and the winner is retaining water.
I guess a new league will take time to settle down, but the uncertainty over the future of Physique is concerning. I am very old school, following the sport since the 1980's. I understand and encourage all the women in all divisions, but for me, the pinnacle of sporting achievement is Physique and, if still available, FBB.
Discontinue all flexing divisions, I will not be interested any more.

Lisa Marie Schleifer Funken, fantastic athlete, and NAC have a great ambassador for their division with her on board.

What I tried to mean in my poor English is that Physique sometimes looks like the rejection bin from fbb: the competitors look extremely dried up, veiny to the max, and sometimes very muscular. So...what's the point of this "new" division? Flexing with open hands only?

I guess a new league will take time to settle down, but the uncertainty over the future of Physique is concerning.

I hope this settles down too, because mny divisions are becoming bodybuilding with other name imho.

I agree in both preferring the Old School looks and Physique being the pinnacle. Bodies were whole, cohesive, not a group of big, swollen muscles put together neglecting the overall appearance. For example, let's look at Bev Francis, Cory Everson and Gladys Portugues: they should be the role model for the bigger/middle/smaller bodies of Physique.

Discontinue all flexing divisions, I will not be interested any more.

I couldn't understand what you meant there, sorry. Personally, I'd implement flexing (or at least "dinamic" posing) for all divisions: When I see the fantastic physiques achieved by Figure, Fitness and Bikini competitors, and all they do is quarter turns, I think that's a waste of musculature. Another reason why I prefer European competitons, since flexing covers Figure and Bodyfitness in some countries.

oriander2000 not wishing to bomb Lisa's topic, but to answer your questions, briefly as I can.

Physique was introduced as an alternative to FBB. We had figure, but that is not the same as Physique. The gap between the non flexing side of sport, and FBB was becoming to great for many women to leap. And yes, open handed flexing is considered "more feminine" !
The rules were very specific that women needed to have a softer look than FBB, not so dried out, not so massive. The bikini's were allowed to be sparkly and no requirement to be a single colour, and less revealing than FBB, again, "more feminine".
All was OK, until they decided to almost discontinue FBB. Then, due to no FBB contests, athletes started to push the boundaries within Physique, so in IFBB Pro League, the women are as you say, dried out to extreme, almost like FBB in late 90's onwards. In Elite, the women are more like the rules stated in 2012. But Elite is not looking at Physique as "The pinnacle" of the sport, they prefer the less sized look.

A lot of FBB's, downsized when Physique was introduced, to compete in the new division (usually unsuccessfully).

I like your idea to introduce flexing into other divisions. Yes, in NABBA and NAC in particular, flexing is more common across a larger range of divisions. My point is that, if Physique and FBB were to finally be scrapped in IFBB, I would have no further interest in the sport ( although if still within NABBA etc, I would of course follow those organisations only) . I am old school, so have been here since the start, and can't adapt to Bikini for example! I respect the women in the gym, but put them on stage with the awkward posing, and after 5 years +, I still don't get it! Just ignore me, my personal view only.

Lisa won gold at the Polish Pro qualifier last weekend.
She missed getting a Pro Card because there were not 5 competitors in her class. See Anna Prinz 's topic, that means the top 3 women's classes did not have enough competitors to award pro cards.
rules are rules, but these women sacrifice their health to compete, so it is a massive credit to them that they stay postitive and continue to have fun despite what must be a disappointment to win but not be good enough to get a card. Especially as the women concerned were in fantastic shape!
