Here's a humble contribution from me. It's not the best quality, but it's still something new:

Nice shot.  Its nice to see a good bicep shot from Cory, its too bad so many of her pics are after she turned twiglet.

I'm wondering, did the original image have that haze in it?

If it didn't there are a few things that you could try when scanning the image again.

First you could try to scan the photo, mag, book with a piece of black construction paper behind the image.   This works real well to stop bleed threw of text, etc. on images.

Another thing you could try is to place a piece of "satin plastic film" or "lightly frosted plastic film" on the scanner and then put the photo, mag, book to be scanned over it.  These are slightly fuzzy sheets of plastic that will cut glare on anything behind it, so it will even out the shading.

Another thing you could try is putting a "polarizing plastic film" on the scanner then put the photo, mag, book to be scanned over it.   Polarizing plastic film will only let light pass in one way and mite cut the glare on some images.

Most art supply places, most drafting supply places, many camera stores, many of the big office supply places, and many big hobby stores all have the films and black construction paper.   Construction paper and the films should be pretty cheap if not go to another store.
