I think I'm accurate in saying that she married her coaching partner. Hence Chinchilla. For me there is a number of FBBs that are developing awesome physiques that approach the masculine in their form and density. Laura, Kristen Nunn, Margie Marvelous... If they were maybe 6-12" taller they would rival many male bb in size and mass. This is where fbbing has arrived at in the last 10-20 years. Astonishingly impressive!

She wanted to compete as a bodybuilder at the Portugal show. Some head judge told her to stick with physique. I won't listen to that judge. She could earn a chance at the Olympia

Timmon · July 13, 2021, 06:05:51 PM

I agree, that the advice to change to Physique so late in the day, it must be hard not to let that screw with your focus and mind set. But if she wins Physique, she will have a crack at Olympia, so maybe that is why the judge made this suggestion.
I note some athletes are competing in 2 divisions . I do not think that should be allowed, it's make your mind up time, but that is just my view. Since it is allowed, Laura could always do that to see what she needs to do to move up to FBB. In fairness, looking at who is competing in FBB, and the media hype (like it or not, "being known" helps a lot), I don't think Laura's route to Olympia is in FBB, this time. Physique will be her best chance, and the media reporters seem to think so.

She's definitely borderline, but with FBB seeming to experience a surge in participation among pros this year, it might be quite difficult to be competitive without adding size, not that I'm against that. She carries it well.

I agree that athletes ought to pick a lane, at least at a minimum of only being able to enter one division per show. Better yet, commit to one division for the whole season. It wouldn't be fair to physique athletes that a BB who hasn't added enough size to be competitive or for some other reason is deciding to drop down to physique. Back in the day, amateur FBBs (eg. Valerie Gangi) would plan through their offseason to drop a weight class because they could be more competitive the next season, having prepared for it, not because they fell short of a heavier class. Even Denise Rutkowski dropped 10 lbs of weight (though remaining a heavyweight) from one season to the next in order to present a better package, and that's when she started placing higher at shows and kicking ass. OK, that was a bit of a tangent, but the point remains that athletes shouldn't be able to compete in multiple divisions. You don't start throwing a javelin at the same track meet that you're placing too low in discus or shot put.
