OdoHerr,

My eternal thanks for your magnificent posts. This is not a scan of the original but my interpretation of what the original magazine cover was intended to look like. When looking closely at the photo of the magazine you can see that it was made from 2 photos and my impression is that the intention of the creator was to have Carla and Rachel starring at each other in the heat of competition.

I have added the iconic playboy logo to the photo in a more appropriate position. Moved Carla's eyes to a more accurate position. I tried to correct deformations created by the position of the camera photographing the magazine. I removed noise and desaturated the image so it is truly black and white. There are numerous other subtle modifications to the image to create realism however, I've not modified the physiques of either women. Please forgive flaws in specularity, dimension, and perspective.

This is a tribute to the vision of the original magazine cover artist. I've used the technology of today to recreate what I interpret as the intention of the original creator which I believe they would have used if available 30 years ago.

Hope you all enjoy.
If you are the cover creator I hope to have done you just homage.

Thank you for your reply, Streetfighter!
I did appreciate your work and K+ for it.

In fact I had noticed that this pic was made from two, but that was not so important to me.

My concern was that, as you said, the flaw in perspective coming from the position of the camera photographying the magazine, which makes Rachel's legs more muscular than they should look, in my opinion. That is why I was looking for a better photo of this magazine cover; but I don't think I' will find one ever..

(As far as I know, SPA News was at that time directed by the first lady of bodybuilding, the respected Doris Barilleaux)

Anyway, thanks again.
