Ms. Skolkin has made a change, and is sticking with strength training. She wears it beautifully.
From her page explaining, and on that 1st photo:LEFT: I was depleted, weak, hungry, exhausted and moody. I was a day out from a bikini comp (this look is not attainable for long) I LOVED being on stage & competing and turning Pro was a dream come true but the lifestyle came with a dark side. I was so structured and programmed it was almost robotic. As soon as my meal clock went off I dropped everything and ate my meal no matter what. (Usually minimal carbs) Everything was timed. My workouts were timed around my cardio sessions and lifts and going to the gym felt like a chore. I would freak out if it was cutting it close. I had no desire to go out with friends or go out to eat because I wasn’t able to drink or eat anything except for what I meal prepped for myself and it wasn’t fun since I always had my progress/prep on my mind. I would get scared that deviating off of my plan would set me back so I did everything to the T. This created unhealthy relationships with my friends, family and also myself. RIGHT: Me today. I got introduced to powerlifting/strengthlifting in my off season and that changed everything for me. The gym is the best part of my day. I quickly fell in love with getting stronger and setting goals and smashing them repeatedly. I found that I was really good at lifting heavy and I didn’t want to start another bodybuilding prep because I would lose all the gains I worked so hard to put on so I put competing off for longer. I quickly began to love my new muscular, curvy physique. I’m full of energy now and I love going out to restaurants and bars without worrying about anything. I’ll eat dessert without feeling guilty & I don’t run to the stair master to “burn it off”. Life is meant to be lived. It’s short. I found what works for me and I love the entire journey.. good & bad because every second of it to got me to where I am today. Find what works for you.
