Erika Mes always struck me as a very eye-catching and memorable athlete, especially because she combined physique, presence, and a very strong image for her era. She was the overall winner of the Holland Nationals and the NABBA Universe in 1980, and also the 1983 IFBB amateur world champion, so there was real quality behind the visual impact.

To me, she may not have remained a major historical figure on the professional side, but she absolutely stands out as a very distinctive, admired athlete who left a special impression. Even her magazine presence from that era helped keep her memorable beyond contest placings.
