A long winded introduction

The Start Of Something Big

With MUCH apologies to all the authors I have ripped off. 

Once upon a time, two girls were born.  Not close together.  Very far apart actually.  They both took their first breath on July 13 at exactly 1:13:13 PM.  Now, some would make a big deal that these girls were born at the exact same moment  The would point out that this moment was on the 13th day of July at the exact hour of 13:13:13 in military time.  They would think this has some sort of cosmic meaning.  But I don't think the Universe works that way.  I think the Universe has a better sense of humor than that.

Andi rushed in and grabbed the man's foot at the edge of the bed and pulled.  Her bicep flexed and she yanked the man off Ami and lifted.  The man ended up dangling from Andi's hand.  He was hanging upside down with his foot up near the ceiling and his head near the floor.  He started yelling and cursing. 

Andi looked at Ami, the weight of the man of no concern to her as he wailed and kicked and screamed.  "I told you it would get you into trouble some day." 

Ami looked at Andi and told her, "I love you."

Andi's eyes went wide and she forgot she was holding a man by his boot.  Her arm flew down in reaction and the man's vision exploded as he landed on his head so hard that he made a dent in the floor.  The man still claims he gets blinding headaches from that night. 

But, that comes later.  Sometimes stories don't go in linear order.  Or maybe that's just what they call a teaser. 

I only mention that scene because it was at that moment that Andi realized she was strong.  Oh, she always knew she was strong.  She just never fully realized that her strength was anything beyond the normal until just then.  People started throwing around words like impossible and incomprehensible when the police came.  At first they didn't believe her, so Andi picked up one of the policemen by his boot and hung him upside down. He yelled and kicked so she set him down politely at least.  They believed Andi after that. 

Ami's realization had come earlier.  She had always known she was pretty.  Well ok, past pretty.  Sexy.  Super sexy.  It was only that night that she realized it was a power beyond normal people.  All she had done was sort of arch and stretch at the men as they whistled.  And then she winked at one of them.  He then followed her home and attacked her as she opened the door.  At first the policemen didn't believe that was all she had done to provoke such a vicious attack.  So Ami winked at one of the policemen.  The same one Andi had lifted incidentally.  He suddenly had to rush out of the room and didn't come back for a while.  It looked like he had on a new pair of pants when he returned.  That policeman did not have a good night that night.  They believed Ami after that. 

The signs should have been clear to both girls. 

But Andi was a girl that liked to be sure.  Andrea grew up in the tiny farming town of Coopersport.  Growing up she was sure of two things.  Her father started calling her Andi because he really wanted a boy.  And that Coopersport was the dumbest name for a city anywhere.  There wasn't even a port there.  She resolved that she would get out of that town as soon as she could. 

Ami was also a girl that liked to be sure.  Amelia grew up in the biggest city in the country.  Growing up she was sure of two things.  It was important for a girl to have a name with an I in it so you could put a heart over the I when you dotted it.  And that Capacious City was just the coolest city ever!  It was so filled with sights and sounds and people everywhere.  There was never a dull moment.  Ami (with a heart over the I) resolved that she would never leave it as long as she lived.

Andi had started working on the farm when she was 8.  Hard work was just normal.  She could toss the hay bales up to the loft by the time she was 10.  When she was 11 she could do it so much faster than Papa that he made her do it all by herself.  It didn't strike Andi as odd though, because Mama did it even better than Andi when she needed to. 

Ami had done dance and beauty pageants since she was 8.  Winning them was just normal.  Modeling agencies started calling by the time she was 10.  When she was 11, her mother turned off the phone because there were too many calls.  It didn't strike Ami as odd though because Mama was way prettier and had way more beauty titles and Insta**** fans. 

When Andi was 14, the tractor wheel needed to be fixed.  Papa went to town to get some parts or a loaner or some damn horses or something to plow that last patch of field.  Andi wasn't sure why they had to wait.  She got Mama to come out and attach the plow to Andi.  And she pulled it around and finished that field before Papa got back.  Andi loved how it worked her body and how it felt.  Most things were so easy but this was hard and felt good. It felt good to make her body work,  So, so good.  Papa was so surprised when he got home.  Andi made Papa promise that she could plow a bigger and bigger field herself every year from then on.   

When Ami was 14, her dress for the beauty pageant needed a repair.  So she took it into the store herself.  Ami wasn't sure why she had to wait.  Ami asked to speak to the tailor and she pressed up tight and close to him.  Ami used her pouty smile and asked him if he could help.  Amy had her smiles cataloged by then.  Ami had photos and descriptions in a file on her computer.  Happy smile,  proud smile.  Sexy smile.  A pouty smile that would have made Puss in Boots envious.  A hundred in all.  The tailor got it done fast while Ami waited.  Ami wasn't sure why the tailor kept thanking her over and over because he had done all the work. 

While at Coopersport High, Andi tried out for the wrestling team.  Andi had always been able to whoop all the boys so this seemed a natural idea for her.  Coach Anderson was surprisingly supportive.  One practice later, he told Andi she was a regular Ellie Mae Clampett and practically begged her to be on the team.  Andi had no idea who Ellie Mae Clampett was, so she googled it to see if he was making fun of her.  Turns out she was a character on a really old TV show. She was a pretty, blonde girl that was really strong and whooped all the boys, even her really big cousin.  Andi liked it.  She thought she was prettier than Ellie Mae, had bigger boobs for sure.  And Andi looked like she had a body that SHOULD be that strong.  Ellie Mae was skinny and just strong for some reason, but Andi looked strong.  Andi liked it that Coach Anderson thought she was a pretty blonde that could whoop all the boys. Andi liked Coach Andrews a little more after that and made sure she always worked so hard for him and made sure she never lost a match, ever.   

While at Capacious Central High, Ami tried out for the cheerleading team.  Ami had always been able to jump and do gymnastics better than anyone, so this seemed a natural idea for her.  Coach Appleton was supportive.  One practice later, she told Ami she was a regular Raquel Welch, and asked her if she wanted to be captain of the team.  Ami had no idea who Raquel Welch was, so she googled it to see if she was making fun of her.  Turns out she was an actress back in olden times who was really voluptuous and sexy, who is still often called the sexiest woman of all time.  Ami liked it.  She thought she was prettier than Raquel Welch, had bigger boobs for sure.  Ami's body doing jumps and flips was a sight that would stay with you for years.  Ami liked it that Coach Appleton though she looked like the sexiest woman of all time.  Ami liked Coach Appleton a little more after that and she always made sure to work extra hard for her and that the cheer team was the best in the country, always. 

Andi became a wrestling sensation.  She won four straight high school championships.  In four different weight classes.  Frankly, Andi wrestled way over her actual weight her senior year just to challenge herself.  Universities all over the country clamored to give her scholarships.  Andi was thrilled to leave Coopersport.  Andi picked Capacious University as the most exciting place to live she could possibly think of. 

Ami was a cheerleading sensation.  Her team won four straight National Championships.  Frankly, Ami threw in all those quadruple flips and spins her senior year just to challenge herself.  Universities all over the country clamored to give her scholarships.  Andi could not even consider leaving Capacious City.  Ami picked Capacious University as the most exciting place to live she could possibly think of. 

Both Ami and Andi were excellent students, with amazing board scores.  So, they both got into the University easily.  Andi was assigned to Hansen Hall, room number 308.  Ami was assigned to Hansen Hall, room number 308.  The first time Ami saw Andi, she was sure she was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen in her life.  The first time Andi saw Ami, she was sure she was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen in her life.  When they shook hands, there was a tremendous clap of lightning outside.  And the lights went out in the building. 

I know what you are thinking.  Cosmic.  But I already told you.  The Universe doesn't work like that.
