"A Physique That Aged Better Than Everyone Else's"

Some physiques look great in their moment... others hold up years later.

Looking back now, which competitor's physique has aged the best in your opinion?

- Still looks elite by today's standards
- Doesn't feel outdated
- Could fit into multiple eras

Who stands out when you revisit old contest photos?

This is a great question because it separates "great for the time" from "actually timeless."

My pick:

Lenda Murray (early–mid 90s)

Every time you go back to her photos, nothing feels dated:

• Structure → still ideal (tiny waist, wide shoulders)
• Muscle → enough size to be competitive today without looking excessive
• Flow → seamless from top to bottom

She doesn't rely on any one extreme, which is why she translates so well across eras.

Other physiques that aged extremely well:

Juliette Bergmann (especially 2001)

• Very modern-looking balance and polish
• Conditioning and presentation wouldn't look out of place today

Dayana Cadeau

• Her shape and flow still stand out
• Feels closer to modern aesthetics than many of her contemporaries

Debi Laszewski

• Extremely clean and complete
• No exaggerated features that date the physique

Why these physiques age well:

They all share a few things:

• No overemphasis on extremes (not too blocky, not overly conditioned to the point of harshness)
• Strong structure first, muscle second
• A look that doesn't depend on a specific judging trend

The opposite (what ages poorly):

• Physiques built around extreme conditioning that looks harsh later
• Or mass-heavy looks that disrupt flow

So for me:

• Best "aged" physique → Lenda Murray
• Most modern-looking retro physique → Juliette Bergmann

They don't just hold up—they actually fit right into today's lineups without looking out of place, which is the ultimate test.

Curious what others think—anyone have a pick that surprised them when they revisited old photos?

By modern judging standards it would be Lenda i guess, but mostly because she's got a big fingerprint on the moves that are made in modern women's bodybuilding, and that includes judging criteria. To me it's no coincidence her involvement with the whole splitting FBB into the physique division and creating this very specific wide delt look. Then they encourage the ones with an ideal shape to move up, they place highly in the open which then drives down the focus on size once again. Anyway, that's a long critique of mine.

Personally id second the Juliette Bergmann look early 2000s. Those defined lines are still winning today. Better than the look theyre trying to push IMHO.
