Chapter 4: Closing the Gap
The temperature had dropped as October settled in, but Emma barely noticed. The fire in her muscles, the rush of power she felt after each workout, was enough to keep her warm. Every practice, every weight session, she felt herself growing—faster, stronger, more confident.

And she wasn't alone.

The girls' football team was no longer a joke. Their strength training was paying off, and it showed. Sofia's sprint speed had increased so much that she could now outrun half the boys' team. Jenna, who had once been the weakest, had developed a rock-solid core and could tackle harder than anyone expected. And Emma?

She was closing the gap.

The first real test came during a shared practice between the girls' and boys' teams. It wasn't an official scrimmage—Coach Martinez and the boys' coach had simply arranged for both teams to run some drills side by side. But everyone knew what it really was.

A chance to prove something.

Speed vs. Strength
The first drill was a one-on-one sprinting challenge. Emma found herself paired against Jack.

The other players gathered around, eager to watch.

"You sure you wanna do this, sis?" Jack smirked, stretching his legs. "I mean, you've been training and all, but..."

Emma rolled her shoulders. "You scared?"

His grin faltered for just a second.

They lined up. The whistle blew.

Emma exploded off the line.

For the first few strides, Jack was ahead. But something strange happened—Emma wasn't falling behind. If anything, she was catching up.

Her legs, once just long and graceful, were now powerful. Every step propelled her forward with a force she had never felt before.

Jack barely crossed the finish line ahead of her. He had won, but just barely.

He turned to her, breathing hard. "Where the hell did that come from?"

Emma smirked. "Coach says strength training helps with speed. Guess she was right."

The girls cheered, but Emma wasn't satisfied. Next time, I'll win.

First Contact
Later that practice, the teams lined up for a tackling drill. This time, it was about raw strength. One player would try to push the other back.

Emma stepped forward.

Jack raised an eyebrow. "You serious?"

"Why not?" she said, planting her feet.

Coach Martinez crossed her arms. "Anderson vs. Anderson. Let's see what you've got."

Jack crouched into position, still grinning. "Alright, but don't get mad when you end up in the dirt."

The whistle blew.

Emma pushed.

For a moment, Jack didn't move. Then, to his shock—he did.

Emma wasn't just holding her ground. She was driving him back.

Jack dug in, trying to overpower her. No way. She's not stronger than me.

But she was.

With a final shove, Emma sent Jack stumbling backward.

Silence.

Then the girls erupted in cheers.

Emma stood over Jack, hands on her hips. "Still think football's just for boys?"

Jack sat up, staring at her. She was still smaller than him, still lighter—but she wasn't weak.

And for the first time, he wondered if, one day soon, she might actually be stronger.

Great story! I love where you're going with this. I can feel her muscles growing and the surprising increase in strength. You have yet to reveal how this is happening. Is it simply the girls' discipline and dedication? I think there is something else going on. Maybe there will is be a surprising discovery. Without that, the girls' success in athletic training is almost incredible. I can't wait to see what's next!!!
