Sending Deposits Kerfluffle

Boy, does tech and the internet make me feel old.  So, I'm trying to set up a session and I am required to send a modest $50 deposit, however, I do not have a PayPal or Venmo account and even if I had one, I will not send money from my CC or bank account.  After prowling the internet for info, it "seems" that I might be able to buy an Amazon gift card and send its value via a PayPal account; that would be enough for me to set up a PP account.  Can anyone confirm this, or can anyone provide some advice on how to accomplish what I'm trying to do?  I even suggested a "snailmail" send, but the object of my desire is traveling, so that's out.  Hugs and kisses to all!   ;)

I've sent amazon gift cards as payment before. literally just buy a digital gift card and send it to their email, but that requires giving your bank/credit card to amazon and I dunno if you wanna do that

Yeah, that's the rub.  What about an Amazon gift card from one of those racks in the supermarket?  Or would I have to plug that in to my Amazon account prior to sending it?  Anyway, thanks for the info!

The supermarket gift card is probably the best way to not leave a digital footprint. You can buy it with cash and just send the gift card number and PIN number to the intended recipient. Whoever the recipient is can then just enter that info in their Amazon account and they'll have $50 more on their gift card balance.

Yea that would probably work, send them the info so they can cash it online. Just make sure you're in the same region though. God knows I've accidentally bought US gift cards when I'm in Canada

Can't you just open a separate  bank account  for stuff like this or are you concerned about revealing your real name to the sessionette?

In UK it's become pretty normal to have several different accounts that you ring-fence for use in certain sectors. It limits your losses if the you fall victim to identity theft or hacking.

I thought of a separate bank account but that would show up on a credit report.  Turns out the Amazon card worked just fine and I'm locked in.

And, yes Bernie, I was retired.  Probably end up like Joe Louis on his comeback, getting the shit knocked out of me.  Heehee!

Have you thought of purchasing a Vanilla gift card? Those can be sent by email.

So, you'll love this.  Finally, secured my session with Jana.  Had to send that $50 deposit and she suggested buying an Amazon gift card and then sending her the info.  But she kept telling me to "scratch off the PIN."  I'm looking at the card like "There's nothing to scratch."  I turn the card over and over and over and nothing.  Then she says, "Sometimes there's a strip you pull off."  Never having bought one of these, I'm fucking mystified.  Can't find any strip to pull off.  Finally, when I'm just about to give up, I realize that the card is in a cardboard envelope so that it could hang on the supermarket display.  I rip apart the envelope and lo and behold, there's the actual card with the strip.  I pull it off, send the number and now we are a go.  Boy, things were a lot easier when I just had to look in the back of MuscleMag for Robin Parker's no.  LOL!!  Even ten, fifteen years ago, no deposits, EVER. But thanks to flunky schmoes who don't show up, we are now saddled with fucking deposits.   Bein' an old schmoe is tough!!

Glad you were finally able to get your booking. I wish there was some kind of online escrow service like they do with big purchases like houses etc. that can be used to prevent scams and prevent people from flaking. That would be a great idea for a smartphone app but of course would leave a digital footprint 👣
