"The Most Noticeable Physique 'Drop-Off'"

Not every career stays at the same level.

Which competitor had the most noticeable drop from their peak?

- Conditioning
- Size
- Overall presence

And when exactly did it happen?

English:
If I had to pick one very visible case, I would say Nikki Fuller. I do not mean that harshly, because at her best she was extremely striking, but the results show a pretty noticeable change: she won the 1992 Jan Tana Pro Classic and placed 9th at the 1992 Ms. Olympia, then dropped to 14th at the 1993 Ms. Olympia. To me, that is one of the clearest examples of a drop-off in overall presence and competitive impact, especially from 1992 to 1993.

I also think this topic deserves some kindness, because it is not always just about an athlete "getting worse": injuries, personal choices, judging shifts, and the evolution of the sport all matter. But if we are talking about a decline that was easy to notice in a short span, Nikki Fuller is a very fair answer.

One that always stands out to me is Kim Chizevsky post-peak (early 2000s vs late 90s).

At her best (around '96–'99):

• Unmatched density and conditioning
• That signature granite-hard look
• Totally overwhelming in comparisons

Then you look just a couple years later:

• Conditioning wasn't quite as sharp
• Slight loss of that extreme hardness/detail
• The overall look felt a bit less dominant and crisp

She was still very good—but not the same "no questions asked" version.

When did it happen?
Right around the transition into the early 2000s, after her peak run. It wasn't a collapse—it was more of a noticeable step down from an insanely high bar.

Another interesting one:

Denise Rutkowski (early 90s → very short window)

• Less of a gradual drop-off and more of a sudden disappearance
• Peak was so striking that anything after (or lack of it) feels like a massive drop by default

And a slightly different angle:

Cory Everson (final Olympia)

• Still great, still polished
• But compared to earlier years, you could see a softening of dominance and impact

What's interesting about this topic:

The biggest "drop-offs" aren't always:
→ from great to bad

They're usually:
→ from untouchable... to just human

And that contrast is what makes them stand out so much.

Curious what others think—are there any more recent competitors where the drop was really obvious from one show to the next?
