The First One

This was originally my submission for an assignment in a creative writing class I'm in so it's a one-shot, and quite different from what I usually post around here, but I hope you like it

Miles outside the suburbs, tucked along a slender, jagged-edged road traversing the edges of grazing lands and farms, was Maronia Manor.  The Maronia family hadn't actually lived there for over a decade, but neither had anyone else since them, so the name stuck.  The locals regarded the old, decrepit building with a combination of fear and curiosity.  Everyone had heard the story of how the sheriff at the time, investigating a series of disappearances, had tried to visit the reclusive clan, and died.  Violently.  According to his deputy, who had run screaming from the house and returned with a small army of police and farmers with shotguns, the family had become a murderous, cannibalistic cult.  Most of them were either killed (such as Hank and Mary, patriarch and matriarch respectfully, of the family) or imprisoned for life with no chance of parole.

Except for Hank and Mary's youngest granddaughter, a baby, albino girl named Trinity, who instead spent years in the foster system.  People knew who she/her family was, (the tale of what had happened spread quickly throughout the continental United States, especially through this county and most neighboring ones) and, for the most part, treated her accordingly.  At best, her peers in the foster home she was raised in treated her as a freakish curiosity.  At worst... well, she was first given a room by herself when her roommate tied her to her bed in her sleep, under the justification that "She's dangerous, and if I'm gonna live with a freak like her I'll need to protect myself."  School wasn't much better.  Well, at least not in terms of how she was treated.  She had always been at the top of the class.  All of them.  She hit puberty at age twelve, and started to grow.  Yes, it hurt, but she enjoyed it nonetheless.  She still remembered dreaming and fantasizing about growing into a giantess and repaying her tormentors in kind, and then some.  She didn't of course, but by the time she stopped growing and entered high school she was the tallest person she'd ever seen, at just shy of seven feet, with breasts that would make the average stripper jealous.  Obviously, her intellect, background, her albinism and her sheer size made her a very foreboding figure for most people.  At some point she'd decided she might as well play it up for effect and got into the goth scene.  She had a few lovers here and there (never particularly caring about their gender) but they rarely lasted longer than a one-night stand, and never more than a couple months.  Sometimes because they, like everyone else, were intimidated by her, and some because she broke it off preemptively.

A few times a year for most of her life, she'd been allowed to visit her mother in prison.  This always brought on a mix of emotions: happier than she usually was otherwise, but also creeped out.  The combination of Henrietta Maronia's warm, motherly behavior towards her and the knowledge of what she'd done (plus a sneaking suspicion that she wanted Providence to follow in her footsteps) tended to leave her disturbed and emotionally drained for a few days afterwards.  If there was one person in her life she could honestly say she loved, or that she was sure loved her back, it was her mother.  Who had been involved with dozens of murders, including some of children.

Trinity had taken up weightlifting during her freshman year.  It had started as a way to work off stress, but she had quickly discovered that even for her size she was freakishly strong.  Stronger than any guy in the school, including the football team.  She also found that she built muscle with relative ease.  But she liked the confidence that her strength and her increase in strength and muscle mass gave her, so she embraced it.  Strangely enough, she noticed that her breasts not only didn't shrink but actually seemed to grow slightly over the first few months of this.  The open bullying died down as she bulked up, but the whispers, staring and gossip increased accordingly.  Her mother, on the other hand, fully supported her.  And, all things considered, Providence liked having big muscles.  The only thing she particularly minded was that the larger she grew the hungrier she would become, and she'd always had a gluttonous streak anyway.  So, all throughout high school, she virtually lived in the gym.  She never needed to study, her brain effortlessly absorbing any information she was given.

By the time she left for college she'd been shopping in big and tall stores for years.  The legend of the Maronia family was less prominent in Maine than it had been where she grew up, but she was an outcast nonetheless.  Even besides her grades, she was a hulking, musclebound (but surprisingly flexible) juggernaut, but still very clearly feminine.  A girl with genius-level intelligence, breasts and curves to rival a stripper, and muscles and strength to rival, if not exceed, a professional heavyweight bodybuilder or NFL lineman tends to stick out.  And intimidate the hell out of people.  She continued to breeze through her classes. And she continued to grow, to the point that she wasn't sure how she was able to retain her full range of motion, and had trouble getting through most doors.  Ever since she'd taken up bodybuilding she'd gotten to be fairly narcissistic, and she spent at least an hour or so before bed most nights naked in front of her bedroom mirror, flexing and admiring her gigantic body.  She did find it odd that everyone else in here family, living or dead, was basically normal-sized and, as far as she knew, of roughly average intelligence, but you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, so she certainly wasn't complaining.

One of the few upsides Trinity  could think of to her family situation was the fact that all her family's money and property had been declared legally hers after the raid.  She'd been able to largely support herself since turning eighteen in her junior year of high school, covering her own clothing expenses and putting herself through college.  She also had a place to move into after graduating.  Specifically the mansion she was born in.  So, after graduating, she traveled back to her hometown for the first time in years.

The bus station didn't seem to have changed much since she left, and she stood there with her bags for roughly a minute after the bus left, taking it all in.  The dirt road was exactly how she remembered it, but the fence on the other side of the road from her and some of the houses just beyond that had clearly been repainted since she left.  She saw a woman looking out a window at her, then hastily shutting it.  Providence sighed, and turned towards the trees behind her.  It was roughly mid-spring, so everything was in full bloom.  She wasn't sure why, but sights such as those had always helped her relax.  She needed that.  The hulking albino had always stuck out here, even before she started growing, and even more afterwards.  Kids in the area learned the story of her family from their parents and older kids, much of the population still remembered that fateful night personally, and it wasn't like she could hide who she was.  Due to her making arrangements for her return (such as repairs/maintenance on the mansion) for a few months, a number of people had already heard she was coming.  This combination of factors meant pretty much everyone she came across as she carried her bags gave her a wide breadth.  Just like old times.

Trinity reached her birthplace without really speaking to anyone.  As arranged, there was a massive pile of groceries on the doorstep, ordered a couple hours before while on the bus.  She turned the old key in the lock. opened the huge, creaking double doors (unlike most doors they were big enough for her to walk through without trouble) and carried everything inside.

It only really now occurred to her that she had no real memory of seeing the mansion except from the outside.  On some level she'd half-expected everything to be covered in blood, or some other hallmark of horror movie sets.  Well, technically she was half-right.  The entry hall had been restored enough to be presentable, but it was still clear nobody had lived here for a long time.  Dust was everywhere, and the floor creaked with every step she took (though admittedly that was probably more because of her weight than anything).  But even more than that, she felt uneasy.  Which itself was understandable, but she also felt like someone else was in here with her.  She called out, to no response.  She put down everything she was carrying and searched the entire house, including the attic and basement, and found nobody, but the feeling persisted.  She supposed she was just feeling on edge, and spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking, ate a massive dinner, idly watched some TV, and turned in for the night in the master bedroom.

She dreamed that night of a large, grassy meadow.  The sun shone in a crystal-clear sky, birds were singing, the works.  It was peaceful.  And it made her happy.  She just stood there for a bit, taking it all in, before she abruptly became aware she wasn't alone.

There were three of them.  A young girl, a curvy, busty woman and a senior, also a woman.  Their faces were flawless, and because all three were completely naked, Providence could see their bodies were as well.  They all looked incredibly similar, like they were all related.  In fact the more Providence looked at them the more they almost looked like the same person at three different ages.  None of them seemed to be one specific race.  They looked like they had enough diversity in their family tree that they wouldn't look particularly out of place (ethnically at least) anywhere on the planet.  Even the oldest still looked incredibly fit and beautiful, enough to put normal women in the prime of their lives to shame.  All three had lithe, toned muscles that somehow gave the impression of much greater strength than their size, or even hers, would normally suggest.  Trinity stared for what felt like eons before all three of the newcomers spoke in perfect unison. "Welcome home, child."

"Who are you?"  "We have no name." The trio replied, still in perfect unison, "Though throughout time, the human race has given us many.  We are the Three-In-One.  The  Virgin, the Mother and the Crone.  Or simply Mother Earth.  And you are our daughter.  Our warrior.  Our champion."  Somewhere in the back of her head, Trinity knew she shouldn't have been taking this nearly as well as she was. "Though you did not always know," the three went on, "What you are is written on your spirit itself."  "Wait, did you just read my-" They nodded with the same unison they spoke in.

"What do you mean I'm your champion?"
"There is another.  A younger triune deity with male aspects.  For a time we were in balance with him, until his followers came to rule the empire of Rome.  They and their master eventually became corrupt, looting and destroying our domain of the wilderness, and. persecuting followers of other gods, especially us, his equal and opposite.  When his followers crossed the sea they did the same to those who followed us, in various identities, in the new world.  Our children were slaughtered, enslaved, tortured and demonized, portrayed as monsters.  So eventually, we chose to do what was necessary to stop them, and that if we would be called a monster we may as well act accordingly.  Your family's home was built on the site of an old shrine, a sacred place to us.  This allowed us to influence them, to turn them away from the other triune and make them into what our followers were stereotyped as.  This, along with certain rituals they carried out, allowed us to mark you so that you would be born a perfect being in both body and mind.  Someone who could bend others to your will.  Or, failing that, wash away the corrupt order in a tide of blood."

There was an extensive pause. "So," Trinity  said, trying to stay calm with moderate success, "you're saying that you turned my family into serial killers, and caused me to be viewed as a monster all my life, for the sake of your revenge?!"  "To free this world from our counterpart's tyranny.  And do you deny that you've ever thought of doing what's expected of you and being the monster you've been treated as?"  "Well, no, but" "We made you intelligent.  We made you strong.  It's not our fault that people around you reacted badly to it.  And you enjoy it.  All we ask is that you take on the full extent of the power that is yours and become our emmissiary among humanity.  What you do with that power is up to you.  But we must stress that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Providence sighed.  "Okay.  Fine.  You win.  You're right, I have thought about giving people what they expect.  But understand this: When I'm done with what I'm going to do, we're going to have an EXTENSIVE discussion about all this."  "So be it."

With that, she awoke.  Well, she thought, that was one hell of a...  That train of thought was derailed by the sound of sirens from very close by.  She also realized that she was no longer in her bed.  She seemed to be outside, on the mansion grounds.  But why were the police parked just beyond the fence, and why did everything look so small... that wasn't just a dream, was it?

Standing up, Trinity  saw that she had grown in her sleep.  A lot.  In fact, she seemed to have grown out of the house, because all she could see of it was some bricks and wooden debris scattered around her.  Judging by her size relative to things like the fence around the property, the police cars, the property itself and what she could see of the rest of the town, she was slightly over a thousand feet in height.  She grinned as she noticed the gargantuan impression she'd left in the ground before getting up.   She'd never had hair past her shoulders, but now it dangled down the ground and reached all the way to the fence behind her.  She also noted, with delight, that she was at least as muscular relative to her current height as she'd been before, if not slightly more so.  She could instinctively tell she was even stronger than her physique suggested.  She was naked of course, but she didn't care.  "Attention, everyone!" She wasn't even shouting, but her voice could be heard all throughout the town.  "My name is Trinity  Maronia.  For almost twenty years you have tormented me.  Treated me as a monster because of what others did.  So if you want a monster, I'll give you what you want!
