The Procedure

You know the kind of girl that always gets in trouble? Everyone knows at least one. The young woman that tries everything at least once, never says no to a challenge and sees life as a one-time-opportunity to be outrageous. For me, that's July. It's not her full name, of course. Originally, she was called Giulianna, but she chose to be called the way she is now. When we were at school, she'd be the first to smoke, the first to suck off a boy and to lick a girl, the first one to fuck someone and the first one to pass out in class from too much alcohol and drugs. She was totally crazy, but so over-the-top that the other girls wouldn't call her a slut. They'd just shake their heads or admire her for her courage. Playing truth or dare with her would mean getting her to the hospital later on.

I think you understand what she is like. What's fascinating is that she's resilient as hell. She's not someone who gives up and just dies. When she almost broke her neck in a motorcycle accident, she just waited the minimum required time to recover, then she was back on the street, racing people for the fun of it. She survived things most people wouldn't even encounter in their life. She was shot once, fell in a freezing lake in the winter, was run over by a car and overdosed twice. She has some kind of unfulfilled death wish.
I've known her for years now, but July never told me what made her do this and it's probably just as well. I offered to organise a psychologist for her, I have a friend who wouldn't even have charged, but she wouldn't have it. It's weird, but that's the way she is.

For a couple of years, there had been rumours about "the procedure". I hadn't heard of it until July told me, but since this day I was interested. No one really seemed to know what it was about. It had originated in Russia or Mongolia, maybe China. It wasn't clear what it did, but quite a few people amongst the crowd she was running with had heard of people who had met someone who had had it or talked to someone who had had it. It was quite mysterious. People talked about it being the most awesome sexual kick you could get, more powerful than cocaine. Others said that it made you invulnerable and immortal.
Since most people couldn't even be certain of what it consisted of, the rumours were just that, rumours. However, the idea made people crave it. It was the talk of the message boards, people met in private clubs to discuss it. Whenever some news surfaced about it, people flocked to the place to take a look, but they were usually disappointed. Of course, July was right in the middle of it. She had been traveling, hitchhiking from one corner of the globe to the next, living of the land as good as she could. She didn't have much money anyway, so she just worked her way to her goal.

A couple of weeks ago, she called me on my mobile. I was surprised to hear of her. She seemed stressed.
"Hi Ed. It's July."
"Hi. Long time no see. Are you in town?"
"Yes. Say, Ed, could you come and pick me up tonight?"
"Tonight?"
"Yes. I think it'll be done by three in the morning."
"Three in the morning? Shit, I have to work tomorrow. Besides, what'll be done?"
"'It'."
"What?"
"'It'. You know... 'It'."
"I don't get it."
"Fuck. Can't talk on the phone. Anyway. Will you come and pick me up?"
"Okay... Fine. But don't get in trouble."
"Me? Never."
"Whatever."

When my alarm clock rang at half past two, I woke up tiredly, pulled on my clothes, took my keys and stumbled down to my car. I got in and just as I shut the door to keep the cold out, I got a text. It said: "Sry. Get me at 45/17. Home is shit. Ow." That's July to you. She's just the person to text "Ow" at this time of the night. Anyway, I just started the car and drove over. Honestly, I was quite sure that just driving back home and getting a good night of sleep would be a better idea, but I went along with it.
The place was in a bad part of the town. I drove by liquor shops, pawn brokers, tired-looking prostitutes and derelict buildings. I couldn't help locking the car doors. Eventually, the street corner came up. I parked the car and looked around. The broken streetlight gave of a rhythmically flashing circle of brightness that plunged everything else into even deeper darkness. I couldn't see her anywhere. I called her on the phone, but she wouldn't answer. This was bad.

I opened the car door, took out my flashlight and the length of rubber pipe I have in my car for these occasions, locked it and took a look around. Nobody. Good and bad. I walked to the alleyway and switched on my flashlight. Nothing. A homeless person stared at me in frozen ignorance. I turned back slowly, keeping my wits about. I didn't want to get into trouble. I walked to the next alley. This one was even worse. There was a horrible stink to it. I checked it with my light, but still didn't see her.
Suddenly, I recognised a human form slumped against the dirty brick wall. I looked down at the shape and saw her.
"July?"
She lifted her head slowly, she was in pain. Her face was swollen, there was blood all over her. I started shaking and ran over to her.
"July!"
She gritted her teeth and tried to lift her hand, which was just as bloody as her face. She produced a pained moan. I crouched down next to her.
"What happened? I'll get an ambulance."
I reached for my phone, but she stopped me with a look. She mumbled:
"No ambulance. It's alright. Just get me home."
"But you're all bloody."
"It's okay. Home. Please. Now."
"But..."
"No but. I'm fine. It's okay. Just home. I'll explain later."
I tried to help her up, but discovered that the rest of her body was in even worse state. There was even more blood. The smell was nauseating. I managed to keep a clear head and helped her stumble over to my car. Only when we were on our way did I realise that she was naked except for a blanket and that she clung to a small plastic bag. I was desperate. What did she get herself into this time?
______________

I managed to cover the seats in my car with the emergency blanket and helped her inside. She as skinny and light as always, courtesy of her ongoing battle with anorexia and no money. As I lifted her in, I realised that she was naked and that her body was covered in blood and that there were dozens of small wounds all over . Some were long and thin, like cuts, others were round and still others were just huge bruises. To be honest, I really wanted to just bring her to the hospital and be done with it, even though I was sure she had no insurance. I asked again, but she just sneered at me and said:
"Home. Please. It hurts."
I swallowed my skepticism and drove back to my house. As I was driving, she drifted in and out of consciousness and occasionally said weird, incoherent sins. All the time, I just hoped we wouldn't be stopped by a cop. Explaining this mess would be hard. No. It would be impossible.
When I finally stopped the car and helped her out, I felt relieved. I led her upstairs and into my flat. She landed on the sofa, the only piece of furniture in my home that wasn't currently under joint management. Right now, I was getting a divorce, that is, my wife was getting one, and I had realised that most of the stuff in the flat was actually owned by us rather than me. Still, the couch was every bit as ugly as it had always been, so I could keep it.
I got her a glass of water and asked:
"Okay. So what do we do now? What happened to you?"
She waited for a few seconds, then answered slowly, as if in a dream:
"Could you clean me up? Please. It's so sticky and it smells."
"Sure, but what happened to you? Are you sure I shouldn't get a doctor?"
"No doctor. I got it. They wouldn't understand."
She grabbed me with her thin fingers and looked me in the eyes:
"Listen. No doctor. You have to understand. I had it. I won't let them take it away now that it's mine."
I tried to free myself from her grip.
"What?"

After turning on the hot water and filling the bathtub, I carried her over slowly and cleaned of the now dried blood from all over her body. It was a strange sensation. Since I was in the middle of a divorce, I was unsure whether this was a good idea. I was quite certain that getting her to a hospital would be better for the both of us, but she was adamant. After I put on some sterile  gloves, I rubbed off the blood and pus as good as I could. She winced whenever I touched one of the fresh cuts and bruises she had all over her body. I had no idea what had happened to her, but I was beginning to suspect something. When her tanned skin was finally clean, I dried her off and returned her to the couch. It was strange to see: Her skin was not tanned in the same way as bikini models were, it was more similar to the skin you get from living outdoors.
I made us some tea, then I asked again:
"So: What happened?"
She gave me a weary look and said:
"I got it."
"Oh, come on! I just saved your ass over there it's time you tell me what's going on."
She grinned at me and shook her head:
"Saved my ass? Not quite." She made a dismissive motion. "But you're right. You deserve to know..."
She paused for effect. I gave her an angry stare.
"I had the procedure."
"Which one?"
"THE PROCEDURE! You know, the thing everybody's talking about. Don't you have any contact to reality anymore? I found someone who performs it and I got him to do it."
"But what is it?"
"Honestly, I don't know for sure. The doctor didn't seem to be too certain about it either."
I stared at her in total disbelief. Was she honestly saying this? How could anyone be so stupid. I had to get her to a real doctor now. Maybe even to a psychiatrist too. She might as well be dying now, with some asshole having stolen her kidneys. But there she was happily drinking tea. What was wrong with her?
"There's nothing wrong with me."
"Did I say something?"
"Yes. You pretty much blurted out your internal monologue. Relax. I know what I'm doing. Just let me rest. I'll explain tomorrow."
I shook my head and just left. This was too stupid. I went on to sleep in the bedroom. It was cold and lonely.

When I woke up, it was still dark. I hate winters. I looked at my alarm clock and realised that it was 7 am. I had slept three hours and was supposed to be at work in half an hour. I decided to call in sick and stumbled out of my bed looking for my trousers. My phone was in my pocket, at least I hoped so. I looked around in the living room, found the trousers but failed to see July. Where was she?
I was wide awake in a second.
I looked around, panicking. I sincerely hoped that she hadn't just left in her state or that she had somehow disappeared. I ran around, stubbed my toe against the sofa table and stumbled into the kitchen. There was... someone.
I breathed in sharply. There was a hugely tall and thin person standing in front of my fridge.
I ventured closer and asked:
"Who are you? What are you doing in my kitchen?"

The enormous humanoid figure seemed to laugh and suddenly twisted around on its waist. It looked even crazier now. The person looked at me, her face invisible in the fridge's backlight.
"Ed? What's your problem?"
"July? What the hell happened to you?"
"It's the procedure. It's starting to work."
"But..."
"Look!"
She turned her legs around so as to align her shoulders and her hips and walked closer. Her gait was hypnotic and deeply unsettling. She turned on the light. I stared at her distended and bizarre body, her head seemed small up there. She must have been seven feet tall and gaunt as a supermodel on a diet. Her cropped black hair made her look even more alien. She bent down and said:
"I was hungry. I hope you don't mind I took some food."
I was still stunned:
"No problem at all."
"Good."
She gave me a toothy grin and twisted back to get more food from the fridge. As she was eating, she added:
"Say, could you get me some more stuff? I'll pay you back, but I can't get out now, I'm in the middle of something."
"In the middle of..."
She twisted her neck by 180 degrees and said:
"Pretty please."

Even if I could have said no, I was so sick in this moment that I preferred not eating a thing.

I got out in the cold. It had started snowing again. I was all wrapped up in my coat, scarf and hat. I have to admit, I was scared, I felt cold inside. Think about it: I've known July for a long time now and she was never the sanest of persons. Also, I wasn't even sure I could trust her. As far as I was concerned, she had done everything she could to make me distrust her. I sincerely hoped my wife wouldn't turn up at our home now. It'd be a disaster. Imagine the fallout. July was crazy enough to come up with some insane story and I'd be to blame.
With these thoughts, I sped up my steps. When I reached the supermarket, Dave, the guy who usually manned the checkout counter,  waved at me. I walked over, taking off my hat and freeing me of my scarf. Stupid thing. My wife knitted back when we were still dating. I should have thrown it away, but it still has some memories attached to it. It's hard to let go of such a thing, even though it's orange and green.
"Ed! Hey, Ed."
"Yes, what's up?"
"Ed, there were some guys looking for you."
"At the supermarket?"
"Yes."
"Why at the supermarket?"
"I don't know, but they showed me a photograph of you. It wasn't very well done though."
"What? Did they tell you why?"
"Nope. Didn't tell them anything about you either. My granny is from the East. She always told me, deny everything."
"Okay... Did they show you an identification or something?"
"Not that I know."
"Well then, thank you. Whatever."
"Sure. Don't know what they wanted."
He wanted to go on, but the woman who was next in line interjected:
"Can we go on? It's cold and I want to get home now."
Dave turned around.
"Sure, Mrs. Brozinski. Don't worry, Ed, it's probably nothing."
"Dave!"
"Yes, Mrs. Brozinski. Right away."

He went on checking her merchandise. I quickly walked through the supermarket, picking up some food and drinks. I honestly couldn't say what I bought, I was worried by all this. First July, now some noseys. This wasn't good.

When I finally returned home, the sun had finally gone up. I carried my purchases to the flat and unlocked the door. July was back on the sofa and looked normal. She was watching TV and eating the sad remains of the Christmas cookies my wife had baked. I kicked the door shut and stepped out of my shoes, then I walked over to her and took a look at her. She was wearing one of my T-shirts and some of my shorts. She looked at me smugly and asked:
"Got some food?"
My eyes went wide. I couldn't help my outburst:
"What the fuck is wrong with you? You come to my home, all fucked up, you empty my fridge, you send me to get you food. I'm doing this since I believe that you are in trouble, but there you are, lounging and just asking stupid questions! Are you out of your fucking mind?"
I was really angry, but she just grinned and said:
"Calm down. I'm sorry. It's been a little much for me lately." She switched back to serious mode and added: "Thank you for everything. I wouldn't know what I'd do without you."
I was still simmering with anger. She got up quickly and walked over to me. She put her arms on my shoulders and smiled at me. She had this cute nose she wiggled for a second. I hate it when women do that. I love it and it makes me forget the shit they just did.
"Ed, I'm sorry for being ungrateful. Let me make it up to you."

Fuck.

Did she just say that?

Had I unexpectedly walked into a porn movie?
"I'll just get that to the kitchen, then I'll explain everything as good as I can. Do you want some scrambled eggs? I'm dying for those."
So much for porn.
"Yeah. That would be nice. I'll just call my boss and tell him I'll stay at home."
"Fine."

I went to the bathroom as fast as I could. Oh my God. I had the hardest of hard-ons right now. I looked at myself in the mirror and said to myself:
"You're so going to fuck this up. It's going to cost you, but you're going to fuck her. Screw the divorce, screw the money. You are going to bang her."
I pumped my fist at the mirror, then calmed down to sound weak enough for my boss to believe my story. Surprisingly enough, he just said okay and wished me a speedy recovery. Who'd have thought. After that, it was time for some scrambled eggs. We sat in the kitchen, eating the worst food I'd eaten in years. My wife had some trouble with the other facts of marriage, but she was an awesome cook. This was harsh. Really harsh. I smiled my way through the impressively bad dish and then I asked:
"So, tell me about the procedure. What is this all about?"
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on January 29, 2012, 01:05:47 pm
July took her time, then said:
"Well, it's about this." With these words, she pulled up the T-shirt, revealing her rail-thin upper body. You could see her ribs and see that she was grossly underweight. What shocked me more, though, was the fact that her chest and stomach were covered in dozens of fresh scars, most of them barely healed. I had seen them, of course, while I washed her, but I was dazed and tired at the time and just happy that she was alive. The cuts were crudely sewn shut, some of them were covered in scab, others still oozed lymph.
"As far as I know, the procedure was invented by a Russian doctor at a gulag. I'm pretty sure that the first subjects weren't volunteers. However, those who received it were able to become more than they were. I'm not sure about the details, it still hurts a lot, but I feel better already. Better than ever before."
I gave her an incredulous look.
"No, really. The doctor performing the procedure implants special pieces of biological matter that were grown in a lab in this gulag. They say that the matter came from space and was discovered after the Tunguska incident."
I shook my head:
"I can't believe you would let someone cut you open and put some biohazard stuff into your body. Stuff of which you know neither the source nor the effect. This is completely insane!"
She cocked her head:
"But Ed, don't you know I've always been a little reckless?"
"Reckless, maybe, but this? This is just stupid."
"Calm down. I fell it working. Don't you remember this morning?"
"This actually happened?"
"Sure."
She grinned and twisted her torso around so that she still looked me in the eyes but could also look down at her back. Her spine had contorted into a kind of spiral.
"Everything is fine. I just need some time to adjust and see where this leads me to. Please let me stay for a while, okay?"
I guess I must have fallen unconscious, because I can't remember a thing of what happened next. I woke up in bed a little later.

I opened my eyes and saw July lie next to me. She smiled and asked:
"How do you feel?"
"Bad." My head hurt like crazy. "I dreamed that you had alien stuff implanted in your body."
She gave me the most carefree look I could imagine.
"But I probably did."
I looked at her with the most dumbfounded expression.
"Don't look at me like that. You'll get used to it. Besides, as soon as I got everything under control, I'll be off. Don't worry. Also, look at this."
She removed the cover and stood up on the mattress. Suddenly, her body lengthened and grew becoming tall and thin just as I had seen the first time in the morning. She bent down, pulling my cover away with spindly fingers and gave me a lusty look. Her face looked tiny on this bizarre body.
"Listen, Ed, I couldn't help noticing that you've been lonesome for some time. Well, so have I. You know how it is."
"I'm still married. Imagine she finds out."
"She probably knows already. She was here and I told her to piss off."
"What? When?"
"You've been out for a day. Must have been the stress. However..." She grabbed my shorts and pulled them off, revealing my stiffening cock. "...I'm beginning to feel a little bored and I'd really wish to test what these alien things do in bed."
She came very close and licked my face.
"And you do too." She grabbed my dick and started fingering it with her bizarre spidery hand.

I gave up my resistance. Honestly, this woman had seriously fucked up my entire situation, so she might as well fuck up the rest of it. I pulled off my socks and T-shirt, then started caressing her stick-thin body. It was a weird experience since I'd always preferred curvy girls, but July was so strange and alien, I guess it just made me horny by thinking about it.

Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on January 31, 2012, 01:00:37 pm
Within a few seconds, I had a hard-on and was gladly enjoying the closeness. I squeezed her small butt-cheeks, grabbed her pointy nipples and rubbed my neck against hers, licking her nape. She continued fingering me, making me quiver with desire. I returned the favour, but she stopped me and said:
"Wait. Watch this."
I wondered what would happen next when she bent over backwards and started licking my cock from behind. I stared at her bent stomach when she suddenly sank her cunt on my cock and started pumping, licking and fingering me at the same time. I was still shocked by her topless torso fucking my brains out, making my mind melt with lust while also giving me that deep-down feeling of alienation the situation forced upon me. By the time I was ready to come, she had begun to pump my cock like crazy, coming seconds ahead of me.
___________________

I laid there, completely relaxed. The sex was just what I needed. All the weariness had disappeared. I looked at the enormously tall, stick-thin woman next to me and turned over, pinching her nipple. She gave me an impression of mock annoyance. I laid beside her and said:
"Wow. That was awesome."
"Yes. It's funny, though."
"What?"
"Well, you look so small now. It's really cool how the perspective changes."
She sat up, her thin body four feet high.
"I wonder what will happen next?"
"More sex?"
"Sure. But I mean with the procedure. I wonder what will be the next change."
I knelt so that I could reach up to her face and said:
"I wonder too. This is insane, but it's really great too."
"Should have had it years ago."
She looked me in the eyes and said:
"Kiss me."
I hesitated. Of course, I was being divorced. I was alone. I was free. Almost. Still, I wasn't sure whether I should sever this line just yet.
"Kiss me." She insisted.
I laid my lips on hers.
"What is it with you? Can't you just...?"
"I'm not sure..."
She rolled her eyes, knelt down in front of me, bent backwards so her torso came out between her legs, twisted it around and set her fingers around her waiting snatch. She gave it a lick, then turned her head around again and said:
"Come on. Lick me if you can't kiss me."
My eyes were watering from the physiological abomination in front of me, but I complied.

By the time we were done, my day-to-night rhythm had grown so confused that I just fell asleep in between. I must have been sick somehow. I dreamed a lot of crazy incoherent stuff and had a hard time just staying clear in my mind. When I woke up, it was midday, the sun was a whiteish blob in the gray winter sky and my had hurt. I looked around, wondering where July had gone. She wasn't there.
I got up, scratched my privates (I felt a little sore), then walked over to the bathroom. This was the moment I saw the huge blob in the middle of the room. I freaked out. It was a large slimy sphere, filled with a milky substance and enveloped by a thick membrane. For a second, I thought that whatever July had had implanted into her body had turned her into a blob-person. I decided that this was too stupid. Then I realised that I wasn't too far from the truth. She was in there, back to her normal size, floating in the liquid. I freaked out. Was she part of some insane alien pregnancy?
I looked around, saw the empty food packets, the water trail on the floor, the huge slime sphere on the sad remains of the rug and I just screamed. July floated in her transparent blob and ignored me. Outside, somebody unlocked the door.

My wife.

Fuck.

What could I do?
I grabbed a sheet and put it on top of the floating embryo blob and sat down on top of it, desperate to make it look like a beanbag chair and waiting for Wanda to come in. It wobbled a little as I found my equilibrium, but I managed to hold still as she stepped inside. She wore a grey big duvet coat and a woolly hat and looked at me in surprise. I grinned at her and waved. I said:
"Hi, Wanda, how are you?" I tried desperately to sound casual. She was skeptical.
"I'm fine. What is that?"
"A beanbag. Since I'm solo again, I'm on my way back to a carefree youth."
She rubbed her front and opened the coat. Wow. She still looked as good as ever. You see, Wanda always was a curvy one. She thought of herself as overweight and chubby, but it wasn't all true. She had big breasts, a large ass and a rather tight waist. Also, she looked cool and sophisticated like she always did. Honestly, I wasn't even sure why we broke up. Was it because we changed? Was it because we worked too much? Was there somebody else? I still had no idea. I really wanted to get back together with her.
On the other hand, I knew we would fight pretty soon. If you think about it, we spent a lot of time fighting. Maybe we were just too different. I don't know and I doubt I ever will. Anyway, she gave me a look that told me: "I wish we could still be together." But instead, she said:
"That's stupid. Say, Ed, I'd like to box all the stuff that's still mine. Do you mind?"
"Well... Actually... I'm not feeling too well right now. Would you mind doing that in two days? I guess I'll be fine by then."
She walked over to me and my beanbag and gave me a good look.
"Ed, you do look tired, but I don't think you're sick. So. What are you hiding?"
"Nothing. It's just that I'm still not sure about all this."
"The beanbag? No, I guess it's about the divorce. Listen, we've been going over this for weeks and months now. I'm just trying to do this without any guilt, I'm just trying to free us both of this relationship."
She started climbing atop the bubble, making it quiver and shake. I really hoped it wouldn't burst. Not only would it be dangerous for July, I was sure, I was also quite sure that Wanda would freak out. She sat down and turned to me. I tried to remain calm. The fluid wobbled.
"It's funny."
I said:
"We should be getting off, it's probably too full anyway."
"No, it's fine. A bit like a water-bed."
"Don't remind me."
We bought a water-bed once, but the weight was too great and the guys who lived below us complained about cracks in the ceiling. That started one of these stupid debates that end in fights in the stairwell. I broke my nose that day. Wanda bounced a little on the surface and said:
"I know we shouldn't but..."
I gritted my teeth.
"We really shouldn't."
Boy, this is awkward.

She climbed on top of me and said:
"Come on, Ed, don't be a spoilsport. It's not as if you're getting any right now, aren't you?"
"Wanda, please. I think it's a very bad idea."
She unbuttoned her blouse and showed a little of her bra.
"Ed, this is so unlike you. It's hard, you know. I don't want to be married to you and I'd really love to be friends, but I still..."
I was in the awkward situation of my dick telling me to go ahead and my mind telling me to get off the embryo-cocoon thing before it burst. I must add that all this "sex with the ex" stuff was quite appealing. To be honest, I would have banged her right away, but I had to get her away from July.

Now that I think about it, my solution was the worst I could come up with. Good work, Ed.
I mumbled some approval, turned to my left and just threw her off. I could see her slip and fall, her face contorted in an expression of total surprise and decided to slip off the blob at the same time. She landed on her arm and I could hear the nasty crack that just had to happen.
As I scrambled to my feet and ran around the quivering blob, Wanda was holding back the tears. She gave me a dismayed stare and said:
"My arm. You broke my arm. You clumsy asshole. It hurts."
"I'm sorry, it was an accident. I'm really sorry. I'll call an ambulance."
"Yes. Do that. I'll tell them what you did."
I stared at her in anger. How could she? This would make our divorce much more costly. Nobody would believe me. Fuck!
"I didn't do anything."
"You pushed me! Why did you push me?"
"I didn't want to... Stop. Let's get an ambulance first. I'll get you some ice."
"Ice?"
I fumbled for my phone and called the ambulance. I stayed well away of my weeping ex and just got some ice cubes in a towel. She gave me a hateful look.
"You could have said something."
"I did. Here is the ice. Shall I take a look at your arm?"

She put the ice on the rapidly swelling and spreading bruise. At least the skin hadn't broken. We waited awkwardly for the ambulance to come. It felt like forever. She was still there, sitting on the floor, wincing occasionally. I stood with my back to the wall, keeping my distance. The room felt every bit as icy as the winter outside.
When the ambulance eventually turned up, the paramedics gave me the scornful, almost hateful look that you get if they're called for spousal abuse. I tried to make them record that it was an accident, but they went "yeah, yeah, of course" and took off with Wanda. I offered to ride to the hospital with them and they reluctantly agreed. After all, I was still her husband.

By the time I came back, I was tired as hell. Getting to the hospital had been hard enough, the snow having cut off some of the streets. By the time we finally got there, I took forever to explain that this was not spousal abuse but a simple accident. When they found out we were having a divorce, I had to start over. Wanda wasn't helping either. She clearly didn't want to have the sexual tension to be public knowledge, so she denied it as good as she could. This in turn meant that it was hard for the people in the emergency room to believe me. I managed to convince them of giving me the benefit of doubt and not to inform the police and I stayed with Wanda until she was ready.
When she came out of the surgery, she was grinning stupidly:
"Imagine this: I've lived all my life without ever breaking a bone, and now this. Isn't it hilarious?"
"Absolutely", I replied with a sigh. "Shall we catch a cab to get you home?"
"That would be nice, yes. I'll come and fetch my stuff another day, okay?"
"Take your time. It's not as if it's going anywhere."
"I'll just have to wait until my arm heals."
"No problem. If you want to, I can bring it all to your place and you just throw away what you don't need."
She frowned:
"Stop your passive aggressive stuff right now."
"Why should I? All this is completely pointless. You say we always fight because we're married, but now we're getting a divorce and we're still fighting!" I know I wasn't being too rational right now, but fuck it. I've had it up to there.

Suffice to say, we took separate cabs home. The people from the emergency room found it easier to just throw us out than call the cops, but it wasn't by much.
I rode home, my mood as black as ink. I just felt I was slipping. All this business with July, Wanda, my job... It was getting too much.
I got out of the cab and walked to my house when I noticed someone standing in the shadows at this time of the day and in this weather. You wouldn't believe the shit some people did. I walked past the guy and did a double take. Looked official, but not in an uniformed kind of way. A bit too cold for a tax audit, though.
What the hell was going on?

By the time I got into my flat, I was frozen through. I pulled off my boots and looked inside the living room. The blob was still there, covered in its sheet. Just as I was about to go to my bedroom and get some sleep, the thing started to wobble and burst.

It was a gradual process to watch the structure break down. At first, there were only some wet spots in the blanket, then streams of goo started flooding the floor. There was a strange, sweet smell filling the air and a soft tearing noise was getting louder. With a plopping sound, a part of the jelly-like structure dropped off, pulling the blanket along with it and bringing forth another large blob of semi-transparent goo. Then, with a gasping sound, July emerged from the slime. She pulled it off her body and was... changed.

I stared at her in absolute confusion. She stood on the ground, her lower body still covered in slowly receding liquid and opened her eyes. Out of the corners of her mouth, two streams of fluid dripped down on her bare body. It took a few seconds for me to realise, but the transformation she had gone through was just as alien as the sources she claimed for her procedure's origins. Her skin was now sleek like an amphibians, her hair had grown into a large black mane and her eyes had developed three pupils each. My mouth dropped open.
She focused on me and spat out a large clump of goo. Then, she stepped out of the burst shell and took the blanket, wrapping around her body. As she came closer, it started to change. She grew taller again, but this time, instead of remaining as spindly as before, her upper body soon flared out. Within seconds, her top half had grown heavy with sleek, streamlined muscle. By the time she stood towering in front of me, her lats had grown tremendously, giving her a 36" shoulder width. The rest of her body was toned as hell but still vaguely human. However, she was still skinny, no breasts, no butt.
She appraised me from above and said in a susurrating voice:
"This is incredible, my little friend."

I stood there, completely paralysed by the vision in front of me. She walked closer, each of her steps elegant and calm. She bent down until we were face to face and she said:
"You can't believe how this feels. I can see the true colours of everything. I can smell where you were, who you talked to. I can feel every single hair on your skin. I want you to fuck me now. I want to feel it like I never felt anything before."
I must admit, this wasn't what I had expected. Hell, I probably didn't expect anything anyway. So whatever. She took me by the hand and led me to the bedroom. With a quick pull of her super-tight muscles, she tore off my clothes. I was naked within seconds, the sad remains of my shirt lying on the floor next to her. She smirked and pulled me on the bed. I might have resisted, but it was clear that her strength was beyond mine.
She sat on top of me and started kneading my chest. I could feel that the mere act of touching me made her shiver, so I started caressing her. It felt odd, her warm, soft, completely smooth skin felt strange to the touch, but I could feel slight pulses beneath it. I slid my hands along her lats, surprised by the insane taper they created. How was this even possible?
When she sank herself on my now rock-hard dick, I could feel the pulsating movement under her skin increase against it. It felt like the most insane blow-job I never head, as if hundreds of tongues worked my dick. I could feel she was enjoying it in the same way and I started pounding her from below as she worked me from above. Why couldn't I have sex like this before?

When we were done, it was after midnight. My night and day schedule was seriously fucked up by this time. July was a little tired but nowhere near as koed as I was. The last days were starting to take their toll I laid on the mattress, cradled against her disproportionate body. I was seriously astonished by her alien looks. Honestly, she looked a bit like an extraterrestrial crossbreed from one of these twilight zone stories. I wondered what I was doing here. She looked at me with these six pupils and licked her slightly transparent, shiny lips. Her super-powerful body was at rest. She smiled at me and asked:
"I'm a so strange to look at?"
I nodded.
"Fascinating, isn't it? I haven't seen myself yet, but you couldn't imagine how you look in these eyes. I can see your feelings as if they were written right across your face."
"You can?"
"Absolutely. Although I must say that they're not that hard to guess."
She rolled on her back, then said:
"Of course, this leaves us with a problem."
"What is it?"
"I don't think I can show myself outside anymore."
"Can't you just shrink back a little?"
"I guess I could, but it would feel like shit."
I shrugged. The doorbell rang. I groaned:
"Who might that be at this time of the night?"
July seemed uneasy.

Thanks for keeping up with this, and ongoing K naturally, but I have a question. Is her name pronounced July as it's spelled similar to the month, or like "Julie"? It keeps catching me off guard. I like the six pupil bit, but have a hard time imagining what that would look like... ::)
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on February 22, 2012, 08:23:47 pm
It's pronounced like "Julie", I guess. I imagine the three pupils to be arranged in a triangular shape in each eye, mostly in the iris, but also a little in the white. It should look crazy monstrous.

The bell rang again. I got up slowly. July laid a hand on my forearm.
"If they ask about me, tell them you haven't seen me in years."
"Do you know who this might be?"
She stayed silent and gave me a serious look.
"Fine. I'll do what I can."
The bell rang continuously now. I put on my underpants and pulled a robe over my naked body. I closed the door to the bedroom and walked over to the door. The bell was still ringing. I mumbled something along the lines of "I'm coming, I'm coming." and opened the door after securing it with a chain. Outside, there were too gentlemen in plain suits and a woman, wearing a nicely fitting pantsuit. She was wearing stylish glasses. All this seemed completely out of place. One of the men shoved an ID into my face and said:
"Good evening, Mister Ofaro. We're from the department of defense, my name's Handley, these are agents Ulrich and Mazzetti."
"It's past midnight. Go away."
Agent Handley smiled and said:
"I'm sorry, sir, but time is pressing. Do you have a moment?"
"No, I don't. I'm sick and I have no time for this. Come back tomorrow if you have to."
Suddenly, the woman shouted at me:
"Listen, you shit! You're going to let us in now or I swear to God, we're going to arrest you and fling your ass to some secret prison you've never heard of and this will be the end of it! Get it? We don't have time for this shit!"
I was taken aback by the sudden explosion. Honestly, I never had anything to do with the department of defense, but I wouldn't have expected them to, well, whatever...
"Okay. Fine. Come in. But make it short, I need to get back to bed." I turned around and saw the goo blobs still spread on the carpet. "Also, be careful not to slip. We get this when it gets colder, don't know where it comes from." Shit. They wouldn't buy that if I wrapped a bow around it.
"Coffee?"

Agent Handley replied with a friendly nod and said:
"Yes please. Do you mind if we take a look around?"
The angry woman gave me a glare. I shook my head:
"I'm really sorry. Coffee's okay, but for everything else, I'd love you to return tomorrow."
Her glare turned into a surprisingly aggressive frown. Agent Handley smiled and said:
"That's too bad. We would love to keep it quick, if you know what I mean."
I shook my head again and said:
"Come to the kitchen please, if you must."

This is when I made my second mistake this morning. The first one had of course been to let them in, but now, I had something worse on my back. Apparently, I hadn't gone to the kitchen for a while. July had ravaged it in her hunger and had clearly decided to just spill everything all over the floor. The agents looked at the gaping fridge and the half torn packs of milk, the ripped-apart meat, the sad remains of the vegetables.
The woman said:
"This also happens when it gets colder?"
I wanted to say something, but Handley interrupted me and said:
"I'll be frank, Mr. Ofaro. We think that you may have been mixed up into something way beyond your imagination and I can only hope that you will be able to get through this without getting hurt."
I blinked. What was going on?
He quickly turned on the coffee machine and said:
"Listen: We know that you shelter someone and we ask you to help us apprehend this person. This is dangerous for you and for all those you hold dear."
The woman cut in:
"It's also dangerous for everybody else in this city, so..."
"What agent Ulrich is trying to say is that this is a matter of national security. Whoever it is, please tell us where..."
He was cut off by a crash next door. Within seconds, they ran out of the room and into the bedroom, drawing their handguns on the way. I stood there flabbergasted as the coffee machine began making delicious brew.

When I arrived in the bedroom, the agents had their guns ready and were inspecting the place. What held their attention was the huge hole in the wall that let in cold air in where the window had been. Also, the bed was missing, or rather spread all over the place in smithereens. The silent one stepped forward and looked out. Outside, it began snowing again. Agent Handley turned to me and asked:
"What happened here?"
The funny thing was, I just asked him the same question at exactly the same time, so we produced a chorus of confusion. As he was trying to figure out what he had just heard, agent Ulrich cut in and asked:
"Where's the transplant?"
She held the gun to my face.
"Where is it. Tell us now."
I asked:
"Where's what?"
"Don't fuck with me." She moved the gun a fraction to the side and fired. The thing spewed fire and smoke, punching a thumb-sized hole in the wall next to me. She gave me a crazy calm look and repeated the question:
"Where is it? Now."
I stood there speechless. My eyes were blinded by the sudden flash of light, my left ear was ringing and my underpants were wet. My jaw slacked.
"W-w-what?"
She pointed the gun to my head. Behind her, agent Handley and the silent one asked her to put it down. She ignored them.
"Listen, you asshole. You tell me where the transplant is, or I just shoot you in the head."
I really tried to hold my own, but I no longer could. I blurted out:
"She was there. She was there."
"Where is she now? Tell me, fucker!"

That's when I saw July drop down from the ceiling and sink her massive fist into Handley's face, her long, sinuous arm uncoiling with lightning speed, before turning around and grabbing agent Mazzetti and lobbing him against the wall.

Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on March 02, 2012, 11:56:49 am
The suit slapped on the ground with a frustrated gasp. Agent Ulrich turned around, pointed her gun at July's  distorted frame and shouted:
"Stop!"
And she fired. She didn't even take the time to give a warning. However, this didn't concern her aggressor since July simply bent over backwards, evading the bullet with lightning speed. Instead of standing back up, she just twisted her head further between her legs so she could see her target and ran at her on her spindly fingers. The agent stayed surprisingly calm and tried to fire again, but the alien half-breed's legs just stretched, her toes rearranging themselves to form two opposable thumbs and she grabbed the agent's arms, crushing both of her forearms in the vice-like grip of her feet.
I could hear the appalling sound of her bones shattering and her scream of pain, but was glad not to see her expression. Agent Ulrich dropped her gun and suddenly collapsed.
July stood back up, shrinking to a size more similar to what she was like before and said:
"Sorry, Ed. They had it coming."
I blinked. There were three unconscious government agents and an alien crossbreed in my ruined bedroom. Snow was drifting in through a gaping hole in the wall. I replied weakly:
"So did I, apparently."
"Yes. Sorry. I'll make it up to you, but we have to leave now. There will be more."
"What's going on?"
"I guess the government doesn't want people to be happy."
"I think it's more like they don't want people to splice themselves with aliens."
"You believe in aliens?"
"I believe in what I see."
"Point granted. Still, we have to leave. They'll arrest you and make you talk whether you know something or not."
"But I don't..."
"They know how to make you talk. Let's leave. Take what you can. I know someone who might help us."
"Might?"
"Will... Probably."

Minutes later, we climbed into my car. It had taken a few seconds to brush off the snow that had covered it, but now we were inside and the heating was doing its best to make it cozy in here. July shrunk down a little to fit on the seat. She had put on one of my T-shirts and some of my trousers. She looked odd, completing the look with an old coat of Wanda's and a fedora I kept in my wardrobe. As I drove off, she picked a pair of sunglasses from my sun visor and put them on. She looked like a cross of the invisible man and the lizard.
I asked:
"So, where do we go now?"
"Just drive us back to the place where you picked me up."
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely. We should be able to pick up his trail there."
"Whose trail, by the way?"
"The doctor's. The guy who did the procedure."
I had to concentrate on the traffic for a second as the snow drifted by.
"Why him? I thought you wanted to go into hiding. We shouldn't be running around in the open with you looking like this."
"Of course, but I have to look after him."
"Why?"
"He did something wonderful to me. He made me what I wanted to be. Wouldn't you look after someone like this?"
"I would if he hadn't just dumped me on the street."
"I know. It probably was a bad idea. But you don't have to come with me, you know."
"I'm aware of it, yes. But I won't let you get in trouble more than you are already."
"Wow. You're sweet. Thank you."
She bent over and kissed me on the cheek. I could feel the strange electric tension under her skin and shuddered.

We arrived at the street corner in the gray daze of dawn. I must admit I was pretty tired by now. We had taken as many detours as possible to lose anybody who might be shadowing us, but it wasn't strictly necessary. The streets were deserted, so any pursuers would be easily visible. Also, the snow reduced the vision so much that keeping a distance would mean losing us.
As soon as we got out, July sprinted over to the alley where I found her. Her strange, amphibian body's movements were sickeningly fluid, her gait bizarre and otherworldly. During the drive, her feet had recovered their 'normal' shape, but she still flowed more than ran. I had to shut my eyes to concentrate. As I followed her, I had to evade strange shadowy shapes my mind was making me feel. I was way too tired for this.
In the alley, she looked at me, pulled down the shades and gave me a nod. Before I could ask, she stretched her arms and pulled herself up to the first floor. Spreading her legs wide, she clambered to the windowsill and pressed her palms against the pane. I watched from below as she forced the window open, the squeal of bending metal filling the air. As the bolt gave in, she held herself to the windowframe with her once again hand-shaped feet and let herself slink down. She offered me a long-fingered hand. I took it and she pulled me up with a lightness I could never have dreamed of.

Once inside, I stood in a cold, dark room. I could feel July's presence next to me. I said:
"It's so dark in here. I can't see. And it smells pretty bad."
She must have turned to me since I heard her voice above me.
"I know. It did that before. Wait a second."
She left. I stood there, the cold wind blowing inside. The stench was overwhelming. I could hear her move. Then, there were a few clicks of a light-switch. No light, though. She returned to me and said:
"Let me try something else."
Suddenly, she began emitting a slight greenish glow from the lower part of her face. It didn't help much. She grinned and removed the coat and T-shirt, showing her muscular upper body that was now glowing too, filling the room with a ghostly green light. I stared at her in total confusion. The scars gleamed white on her skin. She added:
"Wait, this needs more."
"More what?"

July's chest expanded suddenly, giving off more and more light. Within a few moments, the room was filled with whitish-green light. As I saw where I was, I retched. The room was a slaughterhouse. There were clumps of flesh lying about, blood and ichor were everywhere. It looked like straight out of a splatter movie. There were some surgical implements, but they seemed crooked and soiled. This must have been a back-room clinic of some sort. One of those places you only ever heard of in the news. I looked at July's bizarre extraterrestrial body and asked:
"You went here?"
"Yes. Absolutely."
"This is horrible. You could have died."
"Sure." She bent down to me. "Best thing I ever did. Let's look around, shall we?"

Now to make it clear, I'm far from squeamish. I don't mind blood, shit, anything. I can watch the worst things without flinching. But this, this was something else. I managed to hold back my urge to throw up right here. Honestly, I think it would have improved the place. Still, I poked around a little and asked:
"What are we looking for?"
"Some clue on where he went."
"And then?"
"We destroy it, then follow it."
"Fine."

I checked the other rooms which were just as devastated when I suddenly felt a draft of cold air in my neck. There was something around. Somebody was watching...

Haha, from that perspective it makes the mystery creature that much more terrifying. It could easily be a previous "patient" whose operation didn't go as well as July's. One wonders how far down the rabbit hole he'll let July take him, especially if she becomes transforms further.

I took out my cellphone since July's light didn't reach this room and turned on the display, bathing the room in a blue light. I looked at the ground. Nothing. Time to take a deep breath. I turned around slowly. Nothing. Good. Excellent. Another deep breath. No one there. Perfect. Everything will be well.

Plick.

The sound of a drop of water falling to the ground.

Behind me. ABOVE ME!

Fuck. I turned my phone to the ceiling and could just see and amorphous mass of limbs and eyes and whatever organs those might be drop down on me. I screamed. Bad idea. The worst idea I could have had. My mouth filled with the things sickening liquid it dripped all over the place and it was on me. I grabbed it, struggled against its uncoordinated movements and tried to get it off me. It tried to wrap itself around me but I managed to pull it away. I wouldn't have if it had been anywhere as clear on its movement. I threw it down. It landed with a splotching sound. I stared at it as it rearranged itself into a vaguely human shape. The whole thing got up, its many differently-sized eyes staring and blinking at me. I spat out the liquid it had sprayed at me and would have cried if I could have.
The thing opened a gaping slash in its own face of sorts and rasped:
"Eat... Eat..."
It belched out a swarm of pseudopods which might have been oesophagi. I felt I was going to be sick. Actually, I was. I was frozen to the spot, unable to move. The thing approached fast.

All of a sudden, it reformed to face another way, but July jumped through the door-frame, grabbed it with her long, insect-like fingers and tore at it. Her glowing body threw bizarre shadows at the walls as she made short work of the blobs of flesh that tried to coagulate into a new being. As she ripped it apart, her shoulders spread wide, showering the room with pieces of skin and various organs. I shut my mouth in shock.

"What was that?"
I shouted at July. Honestly, I'd had it. Her own bizarre transformation had been weird enough, but this was getting out of hand. The beast or whatever it was looked as if it were right out of a Cronenberg movie, you know which one. I couldn't believe my world had proven to be so insane under its thin cover of normalcy.
She replied:
"I don't know." She shrugged, pulling of the sad remains of her clothes from her expanded frame. "It wasn't there when I was here last as far as I remember. Although I must admit that I can't remember a lot about that."
I calmed down a little, wiping off the remains of the creature.
"So, what next? Can we leave now?"
"I guess. I only have to see where he has gone."
She walked around, sniffing and licking her lips. I was so grossed out, I shivered. I returned to the main room and looked out of the window. Outside, dawn had finally come and the room was being flooded by gray light. I could see the whole chaos clearly now. It looked like a surgeons nightmare. I couldn't believe she would have subjected herself to something like this. I shook my head and looked outside, trying to ignore her rummaging.
Down in the street, a car stopped next to mine. I opened the window and craned my neck to take a good look.
Fuck.
The agents. How had they found us?
I turned around.
"July! We got company."
"Hold them off, will you? I'm still looking."
How should I do that? Me and what army?

Haha, things are going to get wild. There's no way he can hold them off and they're probably furious from the first encounter. Also, damn good job on that abomination's description.

The agents started poking around on the street, looking for any lead to where we had gone. I didn't know how they had found us, but it had to have something to do with the car since they hadn't immediately followed us. That's when they brought out a huge dog out of their car. Shit. They'd be here any second.
I turned to July, who was still going through the remains of the surgery and said:
"They have a dog. We gotta be quick!"
"Right away..." There was a crash. "Got it."
She came out in the main room, having returned to a slightly more normal look. She was still huge and amphibian, her eyes still creeped me out, but she looked a little smaller and more human. She said:
"We can go."
"What were you looking for?"
"Just this." She held up a plastic bag. Honestly, I didn't really want to know. Outside, the dog sniffed at my car and started off to the building we were in. "Let's go."
She took me by the hand, led me to the apartment door and kicked it open unceremoniously. She ran up the stairs. Below, the door gave up with a crash. They were coming.
We ran up the stairs. We could hear our pursuers coming after us. Honestly, after a few stairs, my lungs were burning. I continued, but this was when I realised that I was seriously out of shape. Another kick blew open the roof door, leading us outside. The agents were clearly much more accustomed to exercise, since they were gaining on us. I looked around outside. Suddenly, my already slowed train of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of a helicopter above us. What the fuck had I gotten into.
July had grabbed a sheet on the way up and shielded her naked body from the wind. A searchlight was trained down on us.
I asked:
"What now? Where do we go now?"

And the shit just hit the fan in a BIG way. Things are just going to escalate the more they run and/or fight, a perfect reason for July to transform to meet the upcoming challenges. Damn, you're good.

I wonder what she's going to do now, jump from rooftop to rooftop?
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on April 13, 2012, 12:00:54 pm
She grinned at me in her alien way and grabbed me, then said:
"Hold tight."
I hung to her back and asked:
"What are you going to... No!"
She ran towards the edge of the roof. I screamed in terror. She jumped. She flew, soared, glided through the air and then suddenly plummeted downwards. My scream became a high-pitched shriek. I'm still embarrassed by this. As we fell, the helicopter's searchlight tried to lock onto us, but July just concentrated, stretched her arm and suddenly, it split into three strands that connected the shoulder to the elbow and three more that linked the elbow to the wrist. The strands uncoiled, extending her arm to a ridiculous length. Twenty yards it stretched and she grabbed hold of one of the neighbouring buildings' roofs. July swung across the street, whooping as she whizzed past the windows. She extended another arm and swung on, like some mutant spider woman monster.
After the initial horror had passed, I came to enjoy it. I screamed in elation.
The surprised agents stayed behind, pointing at the fast-disappearing shape.

Once I had calmed down enough, I asked:
"Where do we go now?"
Between grunts, July answered:
"I'm following his scent. We'll have to talk."
"Also, it is broad daylight. Don't you think people will see us?"
"Yes, probably, but who cares? What could be worse than those agents?"
"I don't know... The army, maybe?"
Behind us, two helicopters approached. They were black, heavy and clearly armed.

Heh, I wasn't expecting that move at all. I figured she grow wings, but leave it to ole El_Roy to give us that freaky escape. Looks like July's going to have to bulk up to a ridiculous extent to survive those helicopters. Anyway, I have to second solitario in wondering how strong she can get.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on April 17, 2012, 09:08:35 pm
"July! The helicopters!"
"I see them." She clung to one of the nearby buildings, retracting her arms and hanging on the window pane like a gecko. I was still hanging on her back and stared at the approaching aircraft. Somehow, I hoped that the pilots would not risk blowing things up within the city limits. On the other hand, fighting an alien monster might be seen as requiring a sacrifice and warranting some collateral damage. For a second, I realised I was in a King Kong situation. With me as Fay Wray. Crap.
"Hold tight."
I did what she told me before erupting into a scream of panic.
July propelled herself at one of the helicopters, flinging her arms at the machine's landing gear and grabbing it. She pulled herself at the aircraft. The thundering of the propeller was deafening. July grabbed the door and pulled it open, making the metal scream. She pulled herself inside. It had happened so sudden that the soldiers inside couldn't even react. They were all strapped in their crash webbing. One of the lifted his gun, but July suddenly extended her neck outside, slamming his face with her front and sending him into unconsciousness and the others into a screaming fit. She turned to the cockpit and stepped inside. The pilot howled in panic. She said calmly:
"Land this now. Don't crash!"
The pilot complied and brought the machine down slowly. The other machine was also descending.
July smiled her strange smile. Suddenly, it became fixed. I only realised there had been a shot afterwards.

She gasped, rolled her eyes and spat out a clump of greenish fluid. It was probably whatever passed for her blood now. July shivered, then collapsed. I looked around, seeing the gunman soldier become unconscious and dropping his pistol. The whole insanity of this day just took over. I picked up the handgun and pointed it at the pilot.
"You! Land the machine now! Do it or I shoot you!"
I couldn't believe what I was saying. I was going to get shot. I was going to die. I gasped as the helicopter sped up its descent. The pilot was concentrating, probably eager not to get killed by the insane man that had just appeared in his cockpit.
When the machine landed seconds later, I looked at July. She was still sprawling on the floor, blood or whatever it was seeping from her wound. I had to do something. I screamed at the pilot:
"Take your hands from the controls. I'm leaving. Don't you dare following us! Don't you fucking dare!"
He nodded, slowly shutting the engine down and taking his hands from the stick. I nodded and took July's hand. Outside, the blades of the propeller spun slower and slower. I said to her:
"July, can you walk?"
She moaned something incoherent. I knew I had mere moments before the police arrived and just arrested me. I helped her stand up as good as she could and urged her out of the helicopter, still pointing the gun at the passengers. I seriously hoped they wouldn't just shoot me down.
We staggered around outside. As we reached one of the stopped cars, I pointed the gun at the driver and said:
"You, drive!"
I opened the door and pushed July inside. The driver, a woman in her mid-forties looked at us in panic. July's body was still as surreal as before, so I really couldn't blame her.
When I got in, I waved the pistol around a little more and screamed:
"Drive! Now!"

The driver hit the gas and we raced through the streets. July recovered a little and mumbled:
"Straight ahead. The bridge..."
Her voice trailed off again. I must confess that I had no idea where we were exactly. The city is pretty huge and there's quite a few placed you'd never visit just for lack of caring. Once again, I pointed the gun and shouted:
"To the bridge! Quick!"
The woman at the wheel screamed:
"What bridge?"
"There must be a bridge somewhere around here! Get to it!"
She howled:
"I don't know! I don't even live here! Where is it supposed to be?"
Behind us, the first police cars began chasing us. This wasn't good. I hoped that they would just try to follow us, not kill us as a public menace.
"Honestly, it must be straight ahead. Do you have a map?"
"I only have a phone."
"Shit. Give it to me!"
"You're new to this car-jacking business, aren't you?"
"Yes, this is my first. There's a first time for everything. How the fuck do I unlock this thing?"
"Do a four!"
"A four?"
She made a gesture with her finger.
"Got it." I switched from her to the screen and back. "Okay, so this is where we are... Ah! There it is!"
"So where do I go?"
"Left, right, then straight ahead. There's a bridge. We cross it. And then?"
I turned to July. She rolled her eyes in confusion:
"Undercity."
"What?"
"Undercity..."
I asked the driver:
"Do you know anything about an undercity?"
"You've got my phone, just look!"
"Yes, yes." I loaded the search engine. "Holy crap!"
"What is it?"
"This is so crazy!"

Thank you very much! Karma to you too whenever I'm around!

The driver screamed:
"What? What is crazy?"
I looked at her, still fumbling with the hand gun and the phone. Only in this moment did I realise that I was doing something really stupid. I concentrated and held the gun as safely as I could. I cleared my throat and explained:
"When they built the city, it was much lower. That is, the ground was. So, after a while, they rebuilt it on a higher level because, well, honestly, I didn't quite get it. Wikipedia, you know?"
"Yeah, I know. It's way too technical."
We crossed the bridge. I said:
"Stay left and then follow that street."
"Okay. Go on!"
"So anyway. There is another city under some parts of the centre. Like additional buildings that have been built over. In the 1950ies, they rediscovered some of them and converted them into bomb shelters. Because of the Cold War."
"Fine."
"In the end, they had this perfectly serviceable but pointless city below the other one that was never used. But you can book guided tours to it."
"For real?"
"Absolutely. Turn right!"
She did as I told her. July was moaning and gasping. The blood-like liquid was soaking the seat. She repeated:
"Undercity."
I took her hand and said:
"Calm down, we're almost there!"
The driver risked a quick look back and asked:
"So, gun man, what is this shit all about? Why are you trying to kill me?"
"I'm not. As long as you do what I want, everything will be fine." I realised how awful this sounded and added: "I just need help to get my friend to safety."
"Your... friend. What kind of monster is that anyway?"
July groaned. I hesitated:
"It's not easy to explain..." I switched the subject: "There it is, stop!"

I waved my gun around as carefully as I could:
"Okay. Get out and help me, we're going in."
She shook her head.
"No. Leave me out of this. I did what you wanted, I'm leaving."
I hesitated.
"Listen. I really need your help. My friend is wounded and there's someone who can help her down there. Please help us."
She blinked:
"You're new to this kidnapping business, aren't you?"
"Absolutely. Until yesterday, the worst thing I ever did was speeding... I also was drunk in public once."
"Okay. Now listen. I don't care what trouble you and your friend are in. I can hardly believe that this... thing is a she anyway. I'm going to leave now and you stay here with that monster of yours."
Behind her, July growled. She shivered and shouted:
"Out! Out!" She seemed quite panicky by now.
I decided not to press the issue and climbed out, pulling July's shivering and shaking body out of the car. She could hardly stand anymore. Sadly, she was also way too heavy for me to lift. I waved my arms helplessly. Honestly, I was about to cry. July gave out a frustrated moan.
Behind us, the police cars raced closer, their sirens blaring. The helicopters were closing in. Suddenly, a bullet tore through the car's roof, missing July by mere inches.
The driver stared at me in horror. I said:
"Looks like you're an acceptable loss now. Help me and survive. These guys are not taking any prisoners."
She nodded and climbed out of the car. I told her to grab July and run. We stumbled in an alley and went down some stairs before ending up in front of a locked door. Shit. I rattled it as the sirens came closer.
"It won't open!"
The driver shouted:
"Do something!"
"I don't know what!"
She said:
"Give me the gun."
I hesitated.
"Give me the gun. Trust me."
"But..."
"You have to. Come on."
I handed the weapon to her.

She looked at me and smirked:
"You're really new to this, aren't you?"
I swallowed. Did I just screw everything up?
Then, she turned to the door and fired a single slug against the lock. I twitched. The lock was busted and she said:
"After you."
I let out a deep breath and stepped inside, closing the door behind us. It wouldn't fool anyone for long, but if we lost them down here, everything might be well. Inside the building, the air was stuffy. It was a cellar, pure and simple, but someone had taken the time to install a counter and a few stands for postcards. There were also a few stuffed animals, mostly rats. Apparently, this was some kind of a tourist location. I was really happy nobody was there. I pointed to the next door and said:
"This way. Also, could I have my gun back?"
"Why?"
I must say that I had no answer to this. She said:
"I'm keeping it for my own protection. If this thing gets better."
"Her name's July."
"Funny name for a monster."
"It's complicated."
"And what's your name?"
"Ed. Can we go now?"
She frowned.
"You're not interested in mine?"
"Not really, she's hurt, you see."
"Fine. I'm Audrey, though."
"Okay. Let's go, then."

We entered the tunnels and stumbled along in the dark until I walked back and picked up a flashlight. Honestly, when I switched it on, I really wished I hadn't. The whole place was really busted, the ceiling was all bent and broken, there was water everywhere, rats too. This was a really dilapidated place. We had to be careful. I asked July:
"Hey, we're in the undercity now, where do we go next?"
A drip of spit ran from her mouth. I could feel she was getting weaker and weaker. She mumbled:
"Follow arrows..."
I gave Audrey a long look and asked:
"Do you see any arrows around here?"
We looked around. Nothing. We continued to the next intersection and there they were. Small and scrawled across one of the busted bricks. The ideal road sign. I turned to Audrey and said:
"Quick now, this way."
We ran through the tunnels as fast as we could, dragging July along. The place was falling apart. There were collapsed tunnels, places that were flooded and swarms of rats. This was just like in a survival horror game.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we reached another door. I had lost any sense of direction I might have had. The place was a maze and I was sure our pursuers wouldn't be able to find us.
I tried to open the door. It was locked. Of course.
Audrey lifted the handgun and gave me an enquiring look. I shrugged. July, who had become suspiciously quiet by now, rolled her head to the side and gave me a blank stare. Was she dead? I hoped not. I prayed not.

She answered them by knocking against the door with her hand. It was weak, but there was a rhythm to it. I repeated it, knocking harder. We heard steps coming from the other side.

Finally, the door opened. There was a strange man staring at us. He wore a worn-out coat, a rather ugly shirt showing an advertisement for a long-defunct supermarket chain and stank of alcohol and poor hygiene. He stared at us for a while, then said:
"Looking for the doc?"
I nodded:
"Yes. She's wounded. She was shot. Can you get help?"
"The doc. He helps you, is no problem. No problem at all."
"Fine. Where do we go?"
"Follow me, is no problem."
I looked at Audrey, she stared back and shrugged. We grabbed and pulled July's dying body inside.

The place was really run down. It must have been a subway station once or at least somebody must have planned it as one. As far as I knew, our city had no subway, so I had no idea what this was supposed to be. There were several groups of homeless people huddled in corners or sitting in small groups, eating, drinking, talking and sleeping. The whole place stank of unwashed people and human waste. Audrey couldn't help retching. The whole complex was built in a strange, dilapidated 1950ies style. There was a lot of aluminum and broken glass. The sad remains of furniture were made of dark brown wood. It was a sad place, all in all.
We followed our reeking guide through the chaos and the piles of garbage until we reached another door. He knocked, waited and opened it. This room was much cleaner. It was a waiting area of the subway station. There, a few tired and sick people were sitting and lying quite apart of each other.
"Wait a second, is no problem."
"Is no problem."
The man gave me an angry look. Even Audrey scowled. I turned to her and mouthed: "What?"
The guy shuffled off.

Seconds later, there was a wild commotion and two people arrived, pushing an ancient-looking hospital bed. They must have been doctors or nurses, I had no idea, but they seemed to know what they were doing. They pulled July on the bed and the woman said:
"What happened?"
I replied:
"She's been shot."
She seemed completely unfazed by the fact that her patient was a huge, bizarrely human being. She said:
"Okay. We'll see to it. Sit down and wait."
They pushed her away. I looked at Audrey and sat down. She stood and asked:
"Would you mind telling me what's going on?"

While we waited, I explained the situation to Audrey. It took quite some time and I'm still not sure whether she really believed me. She probably did, but not everything. Now that we had calmed down, I realised she was actually quite nice. Of course, she spent most of my explanation making witty comments, but I liked that. She was my age, roughly, her black hair was cut in a bob which had been ruffled a little by all the stress and as far as I could tell, she was fit and tough as nails. During our conversation, I found out she was a firefighter. I was impressed. It must have been the reason why she had stayed so calm under all this stress.

After three hours of waiting, the male surgeon returned, his clothes soiled in green liquid. He smiled at us as he removed his mask and said:
"She's fine. Everything went well. She'll be as good as new tomorrow."
"Can I see her?"
"Why not? Come with me."
Audrey got up too. She said:
"I want to talk to the person I risked my life for."
I nodded:
"Fine by me."
We came into a small room that had been furnished as a sick room. July was lying there, her body strangely deflated. She was still very lean and muscular, her skin was still as slick as before. She looked at us tiredly.
"Hi, Ed. Thank you for saving me."
"Sure thing. It's okay."
"No, really. Thank you."
"This is Audrey. She helped me get you to safety."
"Hello, Audrey. Thank you too."
Audrey just stood there and stared at July's body.
"What are you?"

Suddenly, there was a voice behind us.
"She is one of the chosen ones. One of those who will protect our world."
We turned around.

There was a wizened old man, his left eye closed and his face thin and ancient. His skin had fled back, causing his nose to surge forward. He was bent and bizarre, his body askew. He continued:
"Yes. The world. I saw it. The Tunguska event. I was there when it fell down." He gagged and spat something into a rather fine looking handkerchief. "It fell down, yes. I came there after the dust had settled, before the scientists came. There was... something. It must have been alive before, but it had died. It still had some life in it." He paused for effect. "I was a herder of reindeer then. I cut it out of its shell and took its meet with me. I don't know why, but it felt good that way."
We stared at the strange old man in confusion. Audrey whispered:
"The Tunguska event was in 1908. How old is this guy?"
"I don't know. He looks like someone who got out of old and went in for another turn."
He continued:
"After a while, I began to understand. I fed and watered the pieces and they grew. They told me many things."
His eye opened wide and his three teeth showed. This guy was horrible.
"Many things, yes."
I made a gesture urging him to go on.
"Many things. The truth! They are coming! I must prepare the forces to defend us."
I stared at July, but she was listening attentively.
"You." He pointed a bony finger at July. "You have it in you. You must prepare. They will come. They will conquer."
She nodded.
The old man gave another rattling cough and the two doctors or whatever they were led him back out. I must say, I was just as confused as before. Time to talk to July, maybe she'd clear things up.

Once we were alone, I looked at July and Audrey and said:
"Did anybody of you understand what this is about?"
July smiled and replied:
"Actually, I'm not sure. I don't even know whether he's for real. But he's the man who created the procedure and I have this to thank him for. After all, I would have died if not for him."
"If you hadn't had this procedure, you probably wouldn't have been shot at."
"Probably. But who cares? I'm here, I'm alive and it still feels incredible."
She turned to Audrey:
"Thank you again for helping me. This was really great of you."
Audrey mumbled something along the lines of "Don't mention it.". July continued:
"Do I scare you?"
The black-haired woman shook her head:
"Not really. But it is weird. You don't look human, you know."
"Absolutely. That was the plan."
I had to ask:
"The plan?"
"Well, not exactly. Ed, you know me, plans aren't my big strength. I just thought it would be cool and what was the worst that could happen?"
I blinked:
"Well, they could have just been organ thieves and taken out your liver, kidneys, everything and just leave you to die..."
"Why should they take MY organs? You do remember my life up until now?"
"Point taken."
"Also, guys, I'm feeling better." Indeed, the wound had all but disappeared. "I'd like to eat something. Could we go?"
She climbed from her bed and stood a little wobbly. I couldn't believe she had been dying a few minutes before. Also, I think that Audrey realised for the first time just how bizarre and insane my friend's body really was. She stood there, two, three heads taller and twice as wide as Audrey and smiled. The shorter woman was still slightly shocked.
I said:
"We can get some food, but we should stay in cover. That is, you should cover up." She nodded. Then, suddenly, I remembered: "Also, do you know anything about some blobs of flesh that are alive and kill people?"
She gave me a surprised look.

Blue? I thought they were always green or gray :funny:

Heh, very clever. Gotta love how July didn't really think this through at all. Her characterization is only getting better and more coherent over time (and the organ bit implies she was a junkie or whatnot).

Later on, we sat in a ridiculously small alcove in a smelly fryshop in the depths of the Undercity. The food was plentiful and rather tasty although none of us wanted to know what kind of meat they fed us. Still, the noodles were actually quite good. The manager, a small man with a hugely bulging stomach didn't even flinch as July came in. The other regulars also ignored us. July wore a huge flight jacket somebody had fished out of a dumpster. Under it, she wore a black leotard and some leggings. She looked like an 80ies icon gone wrong. Her big black hair completed the look. It was weird.
As we ate, she said:
"About the flesh blobs... I have no idea. It doesn't sound too good, though."
"I thought they might be people who didn't survive the procedure in the same way as you."
"I must be lucky then."
Audrey stared at her. She asked:
"Are you completely insane?"
July looked down on her and said:
"Probably. Why?"
"Why would you do this to you? This is so risky and horrible. Also, you look like a monster."
"You're right. But it worked well. And it is worth the experience. Isn't it, Ed?"
I had to nod. Sex with her had been incredible. I got a hard on just by thinking about it.
Audrey ignored me:
"Still: You could have died."
"Wouldn't have been the first time."
"Yes, but as far as I saw,  the government is on your trail. And ours too. I don't think they want to share your experience. I think they want to dissect you and make us disappear."
I looked sheepishly at my noodles. Getting Audrey tangled up in this mess was my fault.
July shrugged:
"Well, yes. They probably would. But they won't get me down here."
Audrey blinked:
"I'm not so sure. When we were at the station, I saw they were packing. They're leaving, and quick. We should too."
As if to underline what she just said, a burst of machine gun fire went off in the depths of the labyrinthine city.
Fuck.

I got up and said:
"We need to get away now!"
July stood up and replied:
"Definitely. Follow me."
Audrey put her hands over her eyes and said:
"Why? Why did I have to get stuck in this?"
"I'm really sorry."
Outside, the gunshots were getting louder. July stepped briskly over to the counter and stepped over it. Even though my mind was on other things right now, it was amazing to see her just lift her leg and actually take a single step over the bar. She was so tall it was easy for her. She grinned at the cook and pulled open a hatch in the wall. With a twist of her shoulders, she let her arms drop down and squeezed into the hole in the wall. I looked at the thing and couldn't help wondering how I would do this. From the depths of the dark came a voice:
"Come on! It gets wider below."
I looked at Audrey and squeezed in, chafing my skin and tearing my clothes in the process. I cursed as Audrey gave me a push. I fell down a shaft and landed in a pool of... Honestly I didn't want to know what kind of liquid that was. Above me, July clung to the ceiling like a bizarre spider, her neck twisted around so she could look at me. Once again, her body began to glow softly in the dark. Audrey fell down next to me, spitting out what we all hoped was water. July said:
"Let's move!"
With these words, she scuttled off into the tunnel.

Audrey and I were forced to wade through the darkness. I took her by the hand and led the way, hoping I wouldn't encounter anything even more horrible than what I knew of. Every second, I expected to feel some thing brush against my legs. There! I stopped and waited. Up above us, the gunfire slowly grew quieter. Audrey asked:
"What's up?"
"I don't know. There was something..."
I could feel her clench my hand harder. Summoning all my strength, I took a step forward. Nothing. Good. I continued to take one step after the next, waiting for another brush with whatever was living in there. Meanwhile, July had already reached the end of the tunnel. She climbed down and waved.
"Come on! It's not too far now."
Her strange light turned the place into a half-shadowed crypt. I took another step and suddenly jerked back. There was something. It was there, it was close.

I screamed and ran.

Audrey stumbled behind me, running as quickly as she could to keep up with me. It wasn't easy since I sprinted at full speed and refused to let her hand go. I slammed into the wall at the far end, July grabbed me by my neck and pulled us up. She dropped us on the concrete floor. It wasn't concrete. Those were just some age old, withered stone slabs. Where were we now? Was this still the undercity?

I had to ask:
"Just how old is this city anyway?"
July looked down at me and replied:
"I don't know, but I met a guy once who was an urban historian. He spent all his time crawling around in the depths of the town and looking for some historical artifacts. He was a bit of an Indiana Jones guy. He told me that this place has been settled quite early. It was one of the first places where humans built a settlement around here. I guess this must be ancient history down here."
Audrey tried to rid herself of the remaining slick that stuck to her clothes and said:
"I don't mind the history lesson, but we should be going. If those government guys started shooting people up there, they probably won't give no quarter once they find us." She shivered. "Also, there's something here..."
I asked:
"You feel it too?"
"Absolutely."
July blinked. Her eyelids flickered left, right, up and down. It was disconcerting to watch.
"There is someone. And he's close. Let's move."
We entered the tunnels. Some of them were just earth and stone, with big puddles of stagnant water. The whole place was dusty and derelict. Before I followed the women in the gaping hole, I looked back. July's light fled the brackish water behind us. This was when I saw the bubbles.

"July? RUN!"

She turned around, saw the thing approaching and stared at it. Audrey and I ran as fast as we could down the dark tunnel. I bumped into boards sticking out of the walls and stubbed my toes on rocks and bricks, but I didn't care. Behind us, the beast, whatever it was, emerged from the water. July was still standing there. At best, she was slowly backing away. The creature in front of her planted two huge arms on the ledge and opened its enormous maw. Inside, we could see some strange greenish light shining. It was the same that July's body emitted.
It dawned to me...

The beast stopped. It moved in a strange pattern, lowering some kind of head on a stalk to face July and said in a susurrating voice:
"You are a young one. A very young one."
We stopped in our tracks. July looked up at the creature.
"I don't understand."
"You are still human. You are still one of them."
July asked:
"And you are?"
"I have become more. But we can't have that. It is a time of thinning. Who made you?"
"The Russian doctor."
"I see. Another young one. He is the youngest of the prophets, I hear. Well, he'll die next. But first..."
In mid-sentence, the beast attacked, extending a huge five-pronged tongue and smashing it into July's body. She yelped and was thrown against the wall. The beast instantly recoiled the appendage and smacked her again. July was stunned.
I stared at Audrey.
"What should we do?"
"I don't know. Help her?"
"How?"
"No idea."
She grabbed a brick and threw it at the monster. The beast opened an enormous eye on its maw and gave us what could best be described as an incredulous stare.
"More? Wonderful!"
It pulled itself up in the tunnel and charged.

Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on June 02, 2012, 08:57:00 pm
Honestly, I cannot remember much of what happened next. The few things I can recall are that Audrey pushed me down, that I clambered over some fallen rocks, that July jumped on top of the beast and grabbed its headstalk and tore it off and that the whole creature howled and screamed as we fled. After a headless flight through the depths of the earth, we finally ended up in a large underground cavern with a domed ceiling. The room was littered with the rotten carcasses of beasts and men alike. Even now as I try to recall the details, I shudder in horror. It was really awful. Behind us, I could still hear the monster scream obscenities at us. We retreated through the cavern, eventually finding an exit and wandering through more underground halls. It was amazing how extensive this city's underworld had grown over the centuries. At the same time, I was deeply horrified by the strange discoveries we made. I could only catch passing glances of the strange and primitive paintings on the walls, but they showed what seemed like bizarre rites out of the most insane imaginations. Do you know HP Lovecraft? This.
I must confess that as I saw these strange drawings, I couldn't help thinking of July. She had caught up with us after a while and seemed oblivious to the horror around us. It was strange to say the least. As she reached us, she said:
"We'll see how soon this guy finds us without his head."
She grinned. I found her strange before, now I was feeling that she was repulsive.
"You're calling this a guy?"
"Sure. Not a nice one, but, you know."
"July, he was a huge monster." I stopped. "Man, now I'm calling him a 'he'. What is all this crap?"
July shrugged.
"Keep calm, Ed. You're doing fine. Everything will be well. There must be an exit around here somewhere."
I stood still. The two others turned to me. Audrey was still oddly calm. As a firefighter, I somehow expected her to stay calm under stress. Maybe she was in shock, I didn't know. I turned to July and said:
"July. Please listen for a second. You know I've always been a friend. I really tried to help you whenever you were in trouble and I was there if you needed someone to talk to. You must be aware that you can trust me. With your life. But please, please, this has to be mutual. I have to be able to trust you. And right now, you're coming across as a complete nutjob. You let some quack turn you into a monster-alien-beast, you dragged us down here into Dante's inferno and now we're fleeing from a mutant sewer aligator headstalk. Please, for my sake, try to understand our situation and help me cope with it. Please tell me what you're up to and try not to shove us any deeper into the shithole we're in."
July blinked with her weird lids. I stared at her in disbelief. She hesitated.
"Well..."

She sat down slowly, folding up her huge body and finally taking a deep breath:
"Ed, you've been the only guy I ever trusted all my life. You know there were a lot of things that were crappy. I always lose control whenever I believe I understand, you know? I wanted to be someone special, but at the same time, I wanted the others to be like me, so I wouldn't be alone. All the other people where always whispering behind my back, but you, you cared about me and at the same time, you didn't try to change me. That was a lot of help. So be sure, I really trust you. I don't think I trust anybody else."
She looked up to me and continued:
"What I did now was weird. I'm aware of that. Also, I've dragged you into this. It's not entirely my fault, but I'm hardly innocent either. However, I can explain why. The more I saw what being human meant, the less I wanted to be one. It has been going on for years. Back when I was really drugged out, I sort of decided to kill myself. I tried, it didn't work. But I really wanted to quit being me. I never told you, but I actually tried being straight for a while. I worked at an insurance company. Me!"
I stared at the huge alien creature in front of me and imagined her in a pantsuit. I had to snort with laughter.
"It didn't work. When I heard of the procedure, I realised that this was my way out of here. I wanted to end myself and start again."
She stood up and walked over to Audrey and me.
"Now, I'm different, but I'm still the same. You can trust me and if we manage to get out of this, I'll do everything I can to clean this mess up. But right now, I really need your help. Is that okay?"
I didn't know whether extraterrestrial beasts can cry, but I was pretty sure she would now. I nodded:
"Fine. Let's get out of here and find out what is actually going on."
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on June 09, 2012, 05:52:27 pm
Audrey sighed and said:
"I'm really glad you were able to sort out all your troubles, but I'd rather prefer not to find out. I just want to get out of here and maybe continue my life. So if you don't mind, we should get out of here and just leave it at that."
I asked July where we should go. She sniffed and pointed in one direction. We followed her. She led us through ever more primitive corridors. Sometimes, she stopped and made a sign for us to keep quiet. Once everything was clear, we continued. Finally, I asked her:
"What's going on?"
"Remember the mutant sewer aligator headstalk? It's still around. I try not to bump into it."
After an eternity underground, we finally discovered a way up. It took forever, but at last, we reached a basement that actually looked inhabited. I said:
"How about Audrey and me take a look what's going on upstairs? We shouldn't scare the tennants, shouldn't we?"
July nodded. We climbed up the stairs and stepped out into a derelict house that was perched on a hill close to the city. We could see the smog cloud lying on it in the distance. The wind was blowing, the sun was setting and we could smell the sea. I dropped down in the snow and exhaled. The journey below the earth had been exhausting. Audrey called July up and sat down next to me. We all calmed down. It felt great to just enjoy the clean air, even though it was quite cold. I watched my breath condense in the air and looked at my companions.
"Where to now?"
Above the city, the clear night sky was sparkling with stars.

One by one, they went out.

So I'm back at this story. I apologise in advance for any delays coming up in its writing since I have been commissioned to write a story for a customer, but I wanted to show that I am not dead. I'll try to work on this story as soon as I have the time and hope you will enjoy it.

The snow was falling gently on the winter landscape. I climbed out the our hidden shelter, my rifle at my side. The woods were silent, all sounds muffled by the thick layers of snow. Since the aliens had arrived, our world had changed. Everything had changed. It was cold. I adjusted the scarf that covered my nose and mouth and stepped outside. Time to go on patrol. Somebody had to check the fence and today was my turn.
The snow crunched under my boots. I had scavenged them from a dump. They were good boots, waterproof and warm. None of this super-effective alien stuff. Whoever had thrown them away had no appreciation for true craftsmanship. I started my walk, verifying that the wires were still intact and the alarms still working. When the aliens had arrived, everybody had been very excited. They posed as nice people, offering help and assistance and warning us of the coming danger. Apparently, they had been at war with another alien race and sought to protect us from these invaders. They gave humanity their technology, their knowledge and their weapon. When the other race arrived, our country was ready. However, it turned out to be more complex than the people believed at first. Quickly, the antagonists equipped our nations enemies with their weapons and now the world was at war.
The sudden collapse of the population and the rampant economic crisis had reduced our atmospheric pollution suddenly and had sent us into a new ice age. I tried to warn them, but they wouldn't listen.
I was just repairing one of the alarms when there was a crackle in my walkie-talkie. I picked it up and answered:
"Ed here. What is it?"
"This is Audrey. One of the alarms just went off. Care to take a look?"
"Sure. Which one?"
"Number sixty-four."
"Aw, crap."
Number sixty-four was a bitch. It was quite close to the city and occasionally got triggered by bears raiding the dumpsters there. The idea of going head-to-head with such a beast was daunting. I asked:
"Can you send July my way?"
"I'll see if I can reach her."
"Thanks. See you soon."

I pushed through the snow, careful not to make too much noise. Bears were dangerous. Regular animals were difficult enough, but since that blue wheat had appeared and started encroaching everywhere, the beasts had started eating it and had changed. You couldn't really see it at first, but if you took a closer look, you could recognise the signs. I took out my binoculars and scanned the area.
Alarm sixty-four was just standing there, a forgotten metal post next to the ruins of a suburban home. The thing was still sending its signal, but the field that protected the area had broken down. I could see the tell-tale signs of some animal. There were prints everywhere, one of the dumpsters had been broken open. There must have been some people living close by, otherwise the dumpster would long have ceased to be attractive for them. I sniffed. There was a faint sweetness in the air. Wheat.
I took down the binoculars and wanted to reach for my gun when I was tossed aside by an unseen force. I landed in a snowdrift. There was a deafening roar and I saw the blur of a hairy shape above me. I tried to grab my rifle, but it was futile. The beast stared at me, flakes of blue descending from its hairy cheeks. Its face had been changed to look almost human, but it was deeply unsettling in its alienness. I could hear it mouth syllables and mangled words as it descended on me. As I tried to fend for my life, I had the weirdest thought: What if the beast had learned to attack the alarm in order to attract fresh meat? Could it be that they turned more intelligent too? Would it hurt if it ate me?
I struggled, but the bear just stood on its hindquarters and was about to drop on me with its full weight.

I was about to die.

The creature's mass descended on me. I could feel time slow down and stared at the monster increduously. With a sudden blow of air, it was lifted from me. I took a deep breath and almost choked on my saliva. I rolled around, spitting. The snow was getting in my eyes and mouth. I could feel every part of my body hurting like mad as the cold, melted water seeped into my clothes. I scrambled away from my attacker, not nearly wondering what had happened. There were crashes and blows. The beast growled, barking things that might have been words and tried to fight whatever had attacked it. I half knew it by now, but I still hadn't formed any clear thoughts. It just had been too close for comfort. Suddenly, there was an ear-splitting crack and I realised that my defender had just shattered the creature's arm. I picked up the rifle, looked around, saw the beast and fired. The crack of the gunshot echoed over the white emptiness. The bear collapsed.
I lowered my weapon and put the safety back on. July stood up and let the dying beast slide to the ground. She smiled her odd, alien smile and stepped over to me. It was fascinating to watch her. For unknown reasons, she did not sink into the snow. She stooped down to me and asked:
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Thank you for saving me."
"No problem. Audrey called me and I came as quick as I could."
She helped me up and led me to the alarm. Over the last months, her body had stabilised, but it did still look every bit as alien as before. She was roughly ten feet tall if she stretched and had long, powerful legs that could easily propel her thirty feet in a bound. Right now, she wore tight black trousers that looked a bit like biker shorts and showed off the sinewy muscles under her translucent skin. Her feet were long and sleek with elongated opposable toes.
Her upper body was tightly muscled, but she had somehow acquired muscle groups not normally found in humans. Watching her move was both bizarre and arousing. She wore a warm jacket with a hood that concealed her thick mane of black hair and her inhuman eyes. It also hid the strange patterns of cartilage that had emerged from the skin on her arms a few weeks ago. Audrey and I had been concerned, but July had just smiled and wondered what they would do.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on May 07, 2013, 03:02:00 pm
She helped me repair the alarm box. The technology behind it was actually alien. It caused a feeling of disinterest and boredom in humans and was thus quite useful to keep trespassers out. I had to use a pull-string to start it so as not to be affected myself. July was immune, probably because of her now definitely alien physiology. Once we were done, we walked away, to return to the shelter. As I staggered through the snow, I was a little annoyed by the fact that she just seemed to float on the pure white surface.
She smiled at me and asked:
"Why the long face?"
"Nothing. I'm just angry about the whole situation."
"What, about the alien invasion? Are you still on this?"
"Well, they are still here."
"Yes, of course, but I don't think it's going to change anytime soon."
"That's what bothers me. This used to be a peaceful place. Now, there's a hidden war and so many people died. How can I not be angry?"
"Can you change it? No. So stop. Look at me."
I did.
"Honestly, you're part of the problem. Not of the solution."
She backed away. That must have hurt. It was how I felt, though.
"You know, Ed, for someone who had his butt saved by me quite a few times, you're awfully bad at being thankful."
"I know. It's just ... I had it under control. I had a life. Sure, I was getting a divorce, but still, there was a certain security."
"And now, you're a lone rebel in the wilderness, evading your own government and its alien conspirators. Yes. So what? At least you know who you are."
I gave her a doubting look and walked on. Somehow, she was right, but it still felt wrong. The cold water that had entered the boots began to annoy me. I was really getting angry.

We reached the shelter by nightfall. I climbed in, pulled off my boots and got out of my clothes. July lowered herself down behind me and proceeded to strip. She said:
"Hey, Ed, don't take it too hard. You'll see, these are bad times, but they'll pass. There's really no need to worry. Humanity has survived worse."
I sent a message to Audrey, informing her of our return and said:
"You're right. But I'm afraid."
I finished undressing and sat on my bed. The whole shelter was cramped, even more so with July in it. It was just a simple hideout, dug into the earth and fixed by posts and hand-mixed concrete. There was a cooking plate and a basin for washing. In one corner, there was one of the alien heaters. The things were too good not to be used. They were strangely intertwined tubes that gave off a friendly warmth without any actual thing to power them. This too made me despise our attackers. They were so ridiculously superior that we couldn't even hope to understand their technology, let alone their actual goals.
July sat down next to me, towering over me by a head and a half. Her legs folded down under her and she said:
"It will be well. You know, I've been thinking ..."
"About what?"
"About the invasion. I think that we really have to understand the motivation of our enemies if we want to earn our planet back."
"So what do you suggest?"
"We could try returning to civilisation. See what's going on. Maybe try to change the world."
"I don't know. I sort of prefer the isolation."
"You've been hiding here, but you're unhappy. You should just try to fight. This would be better than just waiting."
I hesitated, but she just leaned over and slid her hand on my shoulder.

I should admit that I did not resist. Seconds later, we lay cramped on the bed, July's huge body above me. She slid herself over my crotch, causing my cock to harden instantly. I grinned stupidly and caressed her enormous lats, gently lowering my hands to her cunt. She lowered herself down and I kissed her, her alien eyes closing with desire. I stroked her clit and soon found out that her changes had amplified over time. I was surprised to find that the thing now lengthened and enveloped my cock, pulsating and making me gasp. Biting her lips, she led it into the folds of her snatch and I soon realised that her nether regions held quite a few surprised. Seconds later, I was on the verge of coming. It was heavenly to feel all these tongues, fingers and tendrils touch my throbbing dick. Just as I was about to come, she lifted me up with one of her hands and forced me deep inside her.
With a grunt, she came, her cunt squeezing and milking my cock, sending me of into an insane orgasm. I howled and screamed as she sent herself over the edge once again, desperate not to knock down the entire shelter.

Whoa, July has transformed into a rather interesting creature. And that blue wheat stuff could lead to some seriously freaky people if what it did to the bear is any indication.

The next day brought more snowfall. I opened a can of noodles and warmed it in the cooker. July rolled to my side and asked:
"Do I get any?"
"I doubt they will be enough. I can give you half, but I think you'll still be hungry."
"I don't care. Noodles!"
I ended up eating canned bread. This is the low point of human civilisation. I can't say I was surprised to see our world destroyed after inventing this. After this highly disappointing meal, I was ready to take on the alien invasion. Anything to turn the world back to normal.
We left for the city during the day. I called Audrey to explain what I was going to do. She seemed a little disappointed, mostly since she had to assign someone else to the shelter, but I decided I didn't care. It was time to change. I took my rifle and my provisions with me and July offered to carry the rest, concealing herself under a big cloak that did little to hide her massive body. She said she'd improvise as soon as we were there and we left.
I sure wish I would have turned back back then.

After a few hours of walking, we reached the outskirts of the city. A few uninterested locals ignored us. July led me to a car rental service. I was a bit perplexed that they accepted her so easily, but as soon as we were on the road, I understood why. She wasn't the only one to be huge and conceal her face and body. Apparently, several aliens just lived among the people and preferred this getup to prevent trouble. They could easily be spotted by their cloaks which were similar to the one she wore. I asked:
"Where did you get the outfit?"
"I borrowed it. It turns out those aliens are hardly up to a fight if you're their size."
"For real?"
"Sure. Beat the guy up in no time. I was a bit surprised myself."
"So has anybody been looking for him?"
"Not at all. Although I must admit that I left almost nothing for them to find."
"How so?" I dreaded the answer.
"Well, I ate him."
"You did what?"
"I swallowed him whole and ate him."
She smiled at me and I once again realised that she had turned into something equally alien as our invaders.
"But he was ..."
"... A human being? Absolutely not. It's just like any other animal. You kill it, you eat it."
"But wasn't he intelligent?"
"I've met some very intelligent pigs, but I still eat pork. Rarely."
"I give up. Whatever!"
"He was quite tasty. Completely different from anything I ever tasted."
"Let's just drive on, okay?"
"Your loss."
She smirked.

I hope the story isn't too creepy and bizarre.

We reached the main square of the town the city had become and got out of the car. It was odd to see these streets again, deserted as the buildings now where. The world had truly changed. Squatters lived in the sorry remains of our civilisation and the streets were full of people scavenging from the wreckage. The main square had once been a large plaza framed by malls and office buildings. People had set up stands in it and were selling produce and the results of their sapping. The market was being patrolled by human militia, clad in the uniforms of the far away federal government. Some of the stands offered alien technology and food. The owners were easily recognisable by the bluish tinge of their skin and the small metal flakes that emerged from it. Some of them had the same ink-black eyes as the invaders. Other than them, there were few aliens to be seen. They tried to stay away from areas with a lot of humans, preferring not to provoke them.
The sellers and their clients gave July hateful stares as we drifted through the masses. They made way, but there was a feeling of intense animosity. Finally, we arrived at a shop that sold some kind of stew, probably rat. July bought two cans and offered me one. Then, she addressed the seller:
"Any news?"
He looked at her, she lifted the cowl a little so he could recognise her and replied:
"I see. Yes, quite a few. The Friends say an offensive is coming. They want to arm the population and prepare us for war."
"Sounds good. What are the problems?"
"Actually, I heard this was a complex ploy. They want our people to become assimilated. They give us the weapons, but the weapons will turn us into them."
"Where did you hear that?"
"Word on the street. Just a rumor. You may want to ask Wanda."
I had to interrupt. It wasn't a common name:
"Wanda Ofaro?"
"No. Who's that?"
"My wife, no, my ex-wife. Wait, how about Wanda Shahab?"
"That's her. Returned to her maiden name, didn't she?"
"Apparently. Where do we find her?"
"She works at the Friend-Human relationship bureau, but you can meet her after her choir practice without causing any trouble." He hesitated and turned to July. "I hope they won't mind you, though."
July shrugged and said:
"Don't worry. I'll manage."

Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on May 24, 2013, 04:46:05 am
We saw Wanda as she was leaving the Friend-Human relations building. It was a sleek, elegant construction that was covered in the blue tiles the Friends used to grow their strange plants and gave off a solemn atmosphere. People were standing in front of it, chatting. They were wearing Friend-inspired clothes, composed of tight fitting scales and fractal elements. There was a certain calm elegance to them, completely different from the chaotic paranoia of the regular folks we had seen until now. The city was different here too. Instead of the run-down buildings that marked its outskirts, the new Friend-constructed houses and condominiums were bright, shiny and clean.
I approached her discreetly and made a sign for her to see me. She was clearly surprised and came over, excusing herself.
"Ed? Where did you come from? I thought you were dead."
I always wanted to say this:
"The news of my death were exaggerated."
She almost wanted to kill me, I could tell. Then, to my surprise, she embraced me.
"I'm so happy you're alive! I was afraid you had been killed. What happened?"
What a welcome. I hadn't expected this to happen.

"I'm sorry I couldn't reach you. Honestly, I thought you were dead as well. When the attack came, I was in the wilderness. I only recently returned to the city. I am glad to see you alive."
"That's good. Does that mean we can strike you from the missing persons' list?"
"I'm not sure about that. Listen, can we talk?"
"We are talking."
"No, I mean in private."
She frowned.
"Why?"
"It's just that I'm not entirely comfortable around this." I made a vague gesture at the surrounding buildings. She smirked.
"You're the guy who's going around with a Friend. What do you mean?"
"Well ..."
This was not going according to plan.
"Listen, let's just talk in private. Shall we?"
"We can go to my apartment. Is that 'private' enough for you?"
"I'm not sure."
"Fuck your indecision, Ed. You couldn't even bring yourself to say 'yes' to either our marriage or our divorce. Come along."
I looked pleadingly at July, but she just stayed silent under her hood.
"To the apartment, it is then."

Wanda unlocked the door by just blowing on a small, hexagonal patch in the wall. It slid open with a short harmonic sound and revealed a two-piece apartment with pure white walls and elegant, Friend-styled furniture. Wanda took off her jacket and led us to into the living room. There was a small niche for cooking and cleaning, a blue-tinged plate that was probably a combined TV set and stereo and some comfortable looking sofas. Also, a few simple pieces of artwork and some keepsakes decorated the room. She asked:
"Coffee? You'll probably skip the star brew."
"Star brew?"
"Something the Friends gave us. It's an acquired taste, but it's nice. Want to try some?"
"Nah."
"Thought so. Coffee it is, then?"
"Yes. Please."
"Sugar, no milk?"
"You still know me."
"You still haven't changed."
She turned to July.
"And you, star brew?"
"Just a glass of water, please."
"You're not one of the Friends, are you?"
July shook her head.
"No. I'll explain in a moment. Or will you, Ed?"
"I will."
Wanda walked to the kitchen space, slid her hand over a panel and unfolded a part of the wall to reveal some cupboards.
A few minutes later, we had our drinks and she sat down on one of the sofas. I had taken off my coat and boots, revealing the bad state my clothes were in. Wanda said:
"Ed, you look like hell. You're all skinny. Should I fix you something?"
"No. It's okay. Can we talk?"
"Sure."

I took a sip of coffee and felt it warm my body. Oh boy, I never thought I'd taste the sweet caffeine ever again. It reminded me of my life long ago. Finally, I put it down and said:
"Wanda, I know it's been a while and things sort of ended on an indefinite hiatus the last time. I want to tell you that I still would be willing to continue with our marriage, but ..."
"You haven't come all this way to talk about our marriage, have you? I mean, there's been so much going on since that time ..."
July bumped me into my side, reminding me of the original purpose of our visit.
"No. I'm sorry. It was just, it's been so long."
"I know, but please, let's leave this be for the moment."
"Sure. So, I've come to understand."
"It's just that it didn't work out ..."
I interrupted her:
"No, sorry, I wasn't talking about our relationship. I was about to ask: What do you think of the Friends? What do you think they're after?"
"What kind of question is that?"
"A serious one. I lived on the brink of civilisation and I'd really like to understand what is going on."
"Fine. The Friends want to help us fight their enemies. They call them the Siblings, so there seems to be some kind of relationship, but since so few people can actually read their writing, we have next to no chance at understand their conflict. The Friends don't explain much either. On the other hand, they prevented the war from getting even worse and they gave us their technology. I'd say they really are our friends, especially since their enemies are our enemies."

Title: Re: The Procedure

I took another sip, marveling again in its taste.
"So they help us, give us their technology and protect us from their enemies. What do they get in exchange?"
"I'm not quite sure for now. At first, I thought they would colonise us, like in the movies."
"And do they?"
"Not really. They have built a settlement close to the city centre, but there's hardly anybody there. They're not breeding, either."
"So what do they want?"
"Maybe it's different: They're not human, so maybe they don't have human motivations. They might actually just help us for help's sake."
I got up and asked:
"Do you honestly believe that?"
"I have seen nothing that would have proven me wrong. The government is on their side too. The original government. They didn't set up their own."
I shook my head. July snickered under her hood. Wanda asked:
"What? Why are you laughing?"
"It's just that the government has its moments, if you know what I mean."
"No, I don't. But let me ask you a question: Who is that and what business do you have with the government?"
I looked at July. She nodded. I explained:
"Remember July?"
"The freak? Sure. What happened to her?"
July snorted, then pulled back the cape, showing her strange, mutated face. Wanda recoiled in horror:
"Who? What?"
With her soothing voice, July said:
"It's just me. The freak."

Once she had calmed down and given July her cup of coffee, Wanda sat on the couch with us and stared at my friend's freakish body.
"You're so ... odd."
"That's the least insulting thing I have been called in a while. Thank you."
"You're ... welcome. Still, what happened to you?"
"I had the procedure."
"What procedure?"
"You never heard of it?"
I turned to July and said:
"Honestly, I doubt anybody outside your clique ever heard of it. Maybe you should explain."
"Or maybe I shouldn't. We didn't come to give answers, we came to get them. So, Wanda. Ed here wants to know what he can about the Friends so he can do something about them."
Wanda went to the kitchen-wall and got herself another drink.
"Why should he? Ed, what's your problem?"
"It's not natural."
"So's your friend. That's not an argument. And before you start: Nobody forced you to run off."
"There was the police."
"Yes, but they were after Ms. Biohazard." She shot July a less than benevolent look. "What I want to say is that the situation right now isn't perfect, but annoying the Friends won't make them go away and even if, it won't bring the people that died back to life."
I got up and walked around in circles.
"I know. I know. But I ..."
"You don't want to accept that you spent all this time in the wilderness for nothing. That's all. You're not good at accepting changes, that's your problem. We had that before."
I grimaced.
"Thank you for bringing this up. Okay. I see I'm not welcome here. July, let's leave."
July thanked Wanda for the coffee and got up. Wanda interrupted her.
"Wait. Couldn't you tell me about this 'procedure'? It does sound interesting."
"I bet it does. Sorry, but no."
"Just a moment, then. What was your problem with the government?"
I started to explain, when July gave me a crushing look. I stopped mid-sentence. Wanda was still leading me by the nose.
We walked out as quickly as we could.

Outside, I followed July until we had left the area, then said:
"I'm sorry for this. Talking to her was pointless. She's far too deep in this whole affair."
"Why? We did learn a lot. Also, we know that we can't trust her. However, we're going to follow her and see to whom she's going to talk."
"How?"
"Trust my sense of smell."
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 25, 2013, 07:28:28 am
Seconds later, I was clinging to July's muscular body. She was moving across the clear hexagonal plates of the buildings at breakneck speed, using her spindly fingers to negotiate the nooks and crannies of the surface. Her skin changed its colour fluidly to mask her presence. For anyone looking out, it would just look like an imperfection of the glass. Her powerful arms propelled her from house to house, following Wanda's scent from up here. I wondered just how fine her sense of smell actually was. Below, cars went by and people walked along, ignoring the bizarre spectacle that was going on above them. It felt deeply unsettling to feel her sinuous body move, contract and expand against mine. With a spectacular jump, she crossed the street and clung to the next facade, once again starting her spider-like scuttling.
I asked her:
"When did you learn that?"
"I don't know. It just sort of started. Cool, isn't it?"
"Yes, especially the chameleon thing."
"That's a nice way to call it. I wonder if I'm going to get eye-stalks too?"
"Please don't."
I imagined her with this additional disfigurement and almost lost my grip. Her obsession with becoming ever more alien was really getting to me. After all, this world was now populated by real aliens and I felt that I was slowly loosing my connection to this way of life. I suddenly remembered the crystalline structures on the bear and almost had to retch. I realised that there was no going back.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 25, 2013, 08:47:27 am
Finally, we reached a huge building made of blue glass and covered in equally blue plants. It was a futuristic, twisted and organic-seeming construction straight out of a science fiction movie. Wanda had apparently just walked in and forced July to find a way to get inside. She descended back to the street and said:
"Pass me the coat, please."
I handed her the cloak and asked:
"How do we get in?"
"I'm not sure. We'd have to be discreet."
"Not your strength, huh?"
"I have to admit ..."
"I'll take a look and see whether I'll find a way."
"Fine."
I left her and quickly walked around the building. It was truly enormous. There were six major entrances, each one at the base of one of the "roots" that formed its base. Clearly, the front was to be used by official guests and important people, so the rear end was going to be our better option. Just as I walked around the place to see this door, a group of young people in uniforms that looked suspiciously like cleaners' outfits came out. They were chatting eagerly, some of them exhibiting the strange bluish artifacts under their skins. I edged closer to listen in.
Soon, it was clear that they were caretakers. I followed them to a nearby park where they took a break. This was my lucky day. I approached one of them, who was sitting a little further away. I doubt I should be proud of what I did next, but I did feel very secret agenty as I did it.
Gave him a blow to the head, made sure he was unconscious, called the ambulance and had them pick him up. Switching clothes felt good. The alien trousers and shirts fit like a glove and were both warm and refreshing at the same time. I hoped that the various pests that had infiltrated my clothes would not kill the poor guy.
A few minutes later, I let July into the building. She gave me a complimenting look. I felt like a master infiltrator assassin ninja. Also, quite stupid.

Inside, July took the lead, evading any other janitors and guards. She followed Wanda's scent until we reached a door to some kind of office. The glass was tinted blue and seemed opaque enough for us to listen without being seen. I heard some mumbles before understanding Wanda:
"... the procedure, she said. Could it be the thing you told us?"
"It does sound interesting. We should set up a task force to clear this up."
The other voice was odd, somehow speaking as if human speech was alien to it. Thinking about it, it probably was. Wanda continued:
"I know that this might not be ideal, but I would like to head this group."
"Why shouldn't you?"
"Well, I am quite close with her companion. He is my former husband."
"Ah, yes, the husband and wife connection. We understand. For us, there is no problem. The connections of humanity are not ours to judge."
"Thank you."
"There is no difficulty. Will you be interested in the improvement? It might help your search."
"I was unaware that I was already eligible for it."
"You are now, after all, you might have to confront a member of the Ancestors. This is not something to make light of."
"Well then, thank you. I feel honoured."
"Don't be. It is a necessity."
This was the moment we chose to leave. She'd come out in a second, so we had to disappear.
What was the improvement? I had a horrible presentiment.

We reached a small eatery in the decrepit part of the town. For now, we had to disappear and wait for any pursuers to forget about us. July had insisted on looking into the records of the Friend central, but that had turned out to be a bad idea. Evading their security system may have worked in the parts that were basically open for the public, but as soon as we tried to interest ourselves in more difficult to reach parts of the building, we were quickly spotted. Even using July's chameleon-like stealth, we barely escaped without being caught.
Right now, I was sitting there, sipping the tea-like drink the owner insisted was worth the money I found in the janitors clothes and asked July:
"So, as far as I understand, Wanda is going to be turned into a hybrid monster just like you, but your special friend is part of a third fraction, called the Ancestors. The Friends are scared of these and want Wanda to investigate."
"I object to the monster part. It's true, but it sounds ridiculous."
"Still, do you agree with me on the rest?"
"I do. Our Friends seem to know about the procedure. The fact that they are sending Wanda implies they are not sure what they are up against and generally underestimate the situation. We might be able to find out what they are afraid of."
"Sounds good, but how do we find out?"
"Remember our encounter in the sewers?"
"You're not being serious, are you?"
July grinned. Fuck my life.

By the time the night had come, July led me down into the depths of the city. We found a place to stay in the bowels of the earth. I was astonished. Remembering how busy this place was before, I was shocked to find it now chock full of people. The underground had turned into a true metropolis, somehow even reminiscent of the movie. Whereas the place had once been a simple system of connected cellars and sewers, the inhabitants had turned it into a teeming hive.
I traded in my uniform and clothes for some less recognisable ones and disappeared in the crowd. Finding a quarter for the night, we could talk to some of the residents.
"When the attack came, we just moved down here."
"At first there were just a few caves, but it grew by itself."
"Once it was clear the war was hopeless, the government sort of tried to set up sheltered cities."
"We set up mushroom farms and tried to live as good as we could."
"The Friends usually keep out of here. Not seeing the sky seems to make them uncomfortable."
I felt awkward being back in society, even though it was such a ragtag collection of sprawl-dwellers. Drinking mushroomy beer with strangers felt odd, but somehow comforting.
As we climbed into our cot, July said:
"It's odd how the world sort of turned into a bizarre fantasy. Mole people and mineshaft gaps?"
"I know." I rolled over to her and touched her eerily translucent skin. "Would you have imagined something like that?"
"I always did, in a way. I wanted a world that sort of was more alive. Less trivial."
I felt a pang of disquiet. I knew she was serious, but I still couldn't accept that my childhood friend had turned into a post-apocalyptic monstrosity that forsook her humanity for the thrill of it.
"Glad you like it. I have to tell you: I preferred the old one."
"But it was boring. Now we have a struggle. We have something worth fighting for."
"What?" I made a sweeping gesture, bumping against the tight walls of the cot. "This?"
"The only thing worth fighting for: survival."
"I'm beginning to believe your monster act."
"It's no act." She turned to me and grabbed me, staring at me from her bizarre pupils. "Let's fuck."

I gave her a long look. Although the offer was tempting, I could barely keep my eyes open and the fact that she was slowly turning into an inhuman monstrosity wasn't exactly making me feel comfortable. It felt like people who realised that their pet snake was taking measure to see whether it would be able to eat them and noticing that the beast was somehow satisfied. It was dawning to me that all this wasn't going to end well. She smiled her otherworldly smile and asked:
"What? Are you going to tell me you've got a headache?"
She grinned, then added:
"I'm sorry. I didn't want to mock you. It's just that you're not in your usual mood."
"How could I? My ex-wife is going to be turned into a monster, one of my last remaining friends already has and we're off to see the wonderful wizard of grubs. I can't think of fucking now. Also, I'm tired."
She frowned mockingly and replied:
"Well, I'd really like to, you know. Isn't that what guys like you always wanted: A woman who says what she wants? No hints, no subtleties."
I hesitated. I really wasn't in the mood, but she had her ways, I had to grant this to her.
She propped herself up over me and held herself aloft on her tight, muscular arms. Then, she lowered herself on me and crooned into my ear:
"I'm really horny right now, so please, pretty please, help me."
She bent her legs forward under her crotch and freed my cock with her somehow hand-like feet. My eyes went wide when I realised she was giving me a hand-job with her toes. She squeezed and caressed my balls, asking seductively whether I liked that.
I couldn't help nodding even though I was seriously freaked out.

July kissed me, licking my face and continuing to work my cock. I have to admit that my resistance had faded by then. Instead, I ached for her and tried to embrace her, but she just twisted away and said:
"You had your chance, now you'll have to wait."
She lifted me up, turned me around and smiled at my struggles. Before I could react, I was in a 69 position. She lowered her crotch into my face and ordered:
"Lick me. Now."
I stretched my tongue and slipped it into the folds of her cunt, but was suddenly greeted by unexpected resistance. There was another kind of tongue in there, actually three of them and each one caressed mine. I struggled, but she just shushed me and said:
"Calm down and try it. It's worth it."
As I did what I could, she started moaning, squeezing my face with her muscular thighs. I thrust my tongue further in, edging between the surprising tendrils that awaited it and suddenly reached a strange spot. Suddenly, myriads of gentle touches caressed my tongue and July moaned uncontrollably.
I was overcome by a strange feeling of euphoria. Something odd was happening. I was both excited and relaxed, unable to concentrate on what was happening as everything went dark. There was a strange taste in my mouth, everything felt warm and cozy and I was somehow surrounded by a warm envelope of sensuality. Even though I couldn't see, my other senses were amplified and I somehow understood that my awareness of my own body and July's were now melding. It was incredible, although I felt a slight unease at the thought of merging my mind with hers. Was this even true? Was I on drugs?
I couldn't care less. I felt her wrap her lips around my cock, I played my tongue over any and all spots I could reach, I felt as if choking, but also elated and free.

So I'm finally going to finish this. I'm really sorry for taking so long.

I gave up thinking and continued what I had been doing. So far, I hadn't been wrong. I soon felt weird waves go through me and heard an enormous sound around me. It felt like waves crashing on the sand. Was there a sigh in all this? I felt my entire body vibrate and move in a strange, unexpected rhythm. The darkness around me changed and there seemed to be a bizarre light around me, the same light you'd see with eyes closed after looking into a bright lamp. Dancing shapes around me approached. Still my entire body felt touched by thousands of tendrils. I struggled to remain conscious. The whole situation was completely surreal.
Around me, there were gasps and groans. My mind was flooded by unexpected and completely alien sensations. Finally, I couldn't bear it anymore and came.
My body shivered and suddenly felt constricted as if the entire world wrapped itself tightly around me. I tried to scream, but instead, my mind just seemed to increase its hallucinations and I felt my tongue become strange and foreign. It wasn't a bad thing, it was just extremely odd.
I must have lost consciousness at some moment.
I awoke beside her, her enormous body sprawled next to me. She breathed heavily and said:
"That was ... unexpected. I'm amazed."
"Yeah ... It felt surprisingly good, seeing how weird it felt."
"Still, there was something missing."
"There was? Maybe. Now, I have to ..."
Before I even finished my sentence, I had fallen asleep.

The next day (or was it night? I couldn't tell), we left our hideout. I had packed my survival gear and turned on my torch to see enough not to break my neck. July, on the other hand, could just see in the dark. She led the way, soon leaving the underground metropolis behind her. I followed suit, ready for anything.
The first part of our descent was easy. Ladders and stairwells allowed us to make good progress. As we got lower and lower, the atmosphere got hotter. The air was damp and I felt as if I were in a jungle. The fungus on the walls did nothing to improve the situation, occasionally unleashing a cloud of spores. The corridors were narrow and cramped. Sometimes, we had to climb over piles of rubbish.
For July, all of this seemed to be a walk in the park. She squeezed through the tight spots, stretched over obstacles or simply stuck to the roof when the floor was hard to cross. At first, I was grossed out, but soon, I had to admit I admired her skill.
She asked:
"Are you coming?"
"I'm sorry. I'm moving as fast as I can. It's just that I'm not built for this."
She twisted her body and looked at me:
"Of course. I'm sorry. I keep forgetting how limited all this is."
I felt the sarcasm in her voice, but chose not to say anything.

Eventually, we left the "modern" part of the underground. Even the oldest stores and vaults had given way to caverns. The walls were now wet to the touch, the air was hard to breathe and it was getting very hot. I didn't remember going so deep the last time.
"July, aren't we too deep now? Last time we met that 'guy', he was in the sewers."
"I know, but I'm following the traces."
"What traces?"
There might have been traces, but I couldn't make out a thing down here. The torch was good enough not to break my neck, but I was too nervous to care about signs and mysteries. Still, I stopped for a moment and examined the walls. Nothing.
July turned around. Actually, she didn't. She just twisted her upper body around and pointed to the wall:
"Right here."
I looked at the patch. Nothing. She turned her lower body around and came to me:
"Can't you see it?"
Her strange, three-pupilled eyes shone in the semi-darkness.
"No. What is it?"
"I see. Well, there are traces on the wall. The guy came through here."
"But isn't this way too tight?"
"Trust me, he can squeeze."
"Do you mean we could run into him down here?"
"That's the plan."
"No, I mean in a tight corridor like this."
She shrugged.
"Probably. Although I think he'd prefer a wider place."
"I hope so. We'd just get eaten down here."
She turned back, not deigning to soothe my fears.

All of a sudden, the corridor opened into a large cave. There were boulders, stalagmites and stalagtites as well as a strange diffuse light that made the whole area at least dimly lit. With a gesture, July had me switch of my torch. It took a few moments for my eyes to adjust to the twilight, but I eventually managed. July led me further into the cave, careful not to attract any attention. I wondered whose that might be, but I had learned to trust her senses.
She advanced in long, silent steps, carefully testing out whether the ground would make some noise should she put her full weight on it. We rounded a boulder and she extended her neck to take a look to the other side.
She bent back and turned to me:
"There are a few people, probably humans. Could you talk to them and maybe introduce me?"
"Okay. But what should I tell them?"
"I don't know, just improvise."
"They're going to kill me, I'm sure."
"Well, I've got your back."
I nodded slowly:
"Please don't let me get killed. I know this world has become so alien that there's actually nothing left to go home to, but I still want to live."
"Don't worry and don't chicken out. I can take on these guys. They're not so many."
I made a silent prayer and stepped into the open.

Instantly, two of the people looked at me. They were clearly surprised and instantly pointed some rather ancient guns at me. Judging from the many action movies I'd seen in my youth, they were assault rifles, maybe army surplus. One of them, a young woman with black hair and brown skin asked:
"Who the hell are you and what are you doing here?"
I hesitated. The other guy kept his rifle trailed on me. I put up my hands, maybe making a good impression this way.
"My name is Ed. Ofaro. I'm looking for someone. I hope I'm not interrupting anything."
"You are. Nobody around here just looks around for someone. Fuck off or I'll just shoot you."
I hesitated. The gun pointed at me made me nervous.
"Okay. Can we just go by? We're leaving in a second."
An older voice could be heard behind the pair.
"Make this man shut up and go away. We're busy and I need to concentrate."
"You heard the chief. Piss off."
I pointed in the direction July had wanted us to go.
"Is this okay?"
The woman was now really getting angry. She made abrupt signs with her gun.
"Go back to where you came from."
I glanced over to July. That's when I saw her just step out and ask:
"What's the hold-up?"
The pair lifted their guns and aimed at her chest. She shouted:
"It's one of the Friends!"
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on June 30, 2015, 04:51:02 am
July grinned, making her face look even stranger.
"Don't worry, I'm not one of them."
"Stay where you are!"
I half expected them to shoot her. Instead, the old voice rose again and said:
"Can't I have a moment of calm to work?"
Between the two guards, a stunted man appeared. He had dark skin, white hair and looked every bit like a medicine man from a western movie.
July looked as cocky as ever, unwilling to perceive the two armed people in front of her as threats. This definitely unnerved them, but she just grinned on. The shaman looked at her and said:
"Interesting. You're neither a Friend, nor a Sibling. What are you?"
"I'm July. Nice to meet you."
She bent down to him, extended her hand and grinned insanely, clearly trying to freak the old man out. He didn't. Instead, he calmly replied:
"The pleasure is all mine. We have found refuge here and you are invited to join us."
The younger people seemingly wanted to protest. He hushed them with a gesture.
"Don't worry. I have a sense that July here is on our side. After all, she would have killed us by now if she wasn't, wouldn't she?"
July beamed with pride:
"Of course I would."
Then they both shared a laugh. I looked at the guards in desperation. They did the same.

The medicine man guy had the guards sit down with us and disappeared into the background to finish whatever he was doing. July was anxious to see what he was up to, but I lay my hand on her forearm and asked her to wait.
"I'm sure you can ask once he's back. Don't worry. He seems to like you."
She looked down on me with alien eyes.
"But he knows stuff. He might be able to help."
"Are you going to fall for the 'ancient Indian wisdom' cliché? He'll be back in a moment."
July looked at the two guards who had began to heat some packaged food in a little electric stove powered by two Friend-aggregates. They noticed and the woman said:
"Spare us the cliché. No, we are not magic Indians. I wish I were."
The guy laughed sadly.
"Magic would sure come in handy. Stupid thing, why won't you heat up?"
I walked over and helped him look for answers. July craned down to the woman and asked:
"So you live down here?"
"Nah. We're just here because ..."
She shut up.
"... because we've got stuff to do. Yes."
"Stuff?"
"Don't ask."
"Mhm."

Eventually, the old man returned. He seemed tired and a little frustrated. He sat down next to the others and grabbed some of the food without even asking. This drew an annoyed look from the woman. July's eyes fluttered. The old man asked:
"So, what are you?"
July seemed pleasantly surprised by his directness.
"I'm human. At least I was until a few years ago. Only recently, that is before the invasion, I had the Procedure."
The old man grinned.
"You had your tubes tied?"
The woman snorted with laughter.
July sighed, smiling in good nature. She lifted her arm and flexed it, bringing her muscles up beneath the strangely skin.
"Not quite. I had myself turned into a ... how does everybody put it ... a freak. Now I'm some kind of crossbreed, although neither with the Friends nor the Siblings. We're down here looking for answers about what's part of me now."
"You know that down here, it's only caves and caves. This isn't the place for science."
"Is it?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you're dissecting one of the Friends back there."
The old man looked alarmed and asked:
"How ..."
"Don't worry, I can smell it from here. So, any ideas about them yet?"
"I can't believe this. Our lab isn't exactly state of the art, but we still work to some standards. And still you could smell it?"
"Quite strongly too. So, who are you and what aren't you telling us?"
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 03, 2015, 04:23:23 am
The old man spilled his beans. Not literally. Those, he ate. However, he did tell us who he was and what he was doing down here. His name was Paul Bullslayer, so I got the First Nation slash Native thing right. Or he just had a very spectacular name. The guards were friends of his, the woman was one of his former assistants. They had set up the lab down here in the wake of the catastrophe and had begun to investigate our conquerors. All this had to be done clandestinely, after all, killing and autopsying our "Friends" wasn't exactly legal. The equipment had been smuggled down here slowly bit by bit. Bullslayer had first worked as an official biologist, but had eventually disappeared to focus on uncovering the Friends' secrets.
So far, he had made good progress. The creatures were definitely aliens, but he had been able to find similarities in our genetic codes, which meant that although humans and Friends were not able to conceive, they were able to tolerate each other's biologies. There was a certain amount of preparatory work to be done, but all in all, the combination was possible.
This led to a setback for him. Originally, he had planned to get rid of them like in "War of the Worlds", but it turned out that any disease able to kill them would also exterminate us. Right now, he was working on their sensory system.
"I would be very glad if you would allow me to take some samples of your body. It would be fascinating to find out whether you are also part of the Friend-species."
He stared at July. She just shook her head.
"I don't think so. However, since you spend so much time down here, you could help us by providing some information: We're looking for a relation. A big guy, looks like a huge slug."
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 04, 2015, 07:44:17 am
The guards were visibly shaken at the mention of the creature.
"You definitely should stay clear of that beast. It's really dangerous and very aggressive. Also, it can easily kill both of you in a moment."
The yound woman pitched in:
"Exactly. I only saw it once, it tore up two of my friends and ignored any shots we fired at it. The creature is just incredibly strong and murderous. One day, we're going to look for it and kill it and this will be our revenge."
She seemed frightened, but there was a certain grim determination to her.
Situations like these were the reason why I loved spending time with July. You always get in trouble with her. Instead of relenting, she laughed and said:
"Don't worry about us. We know the guy and I doubt he's anywhere near as dangerous as I am."
The pair exchanged worried looks. They slowly seemed to realise that July was a true hazard and something that could best be called a living weapon.
She looked down at me and added:
"Ed, I think it's best we get going. These people don't want to get in trouble, so we should leave them alone for now."
I wanted to say that I didn't want to get in more trouble either, but she had already said goodbye and walked on further down the cave.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 05, 2015, 07:24:16 am
Just as she had walked a few steps, she turned around to Bullslayer and asked:
"Say, once you're done with the Friend, could I have the rest?"
"What for?"
"Don't ask. Yes or no?"
He hesitated. What was she up to? I wondered myself. With July's current state of mind, it was perfectly possible for her to just skin the dead body and make a hat out of it. Finally, the shaman said:
"Okay. But I need that tissue sample."
July nodded.
"Fine. When we get back, we'll do that."
She waved and we left.
The caves soon grew dark again. July's body gave off a slight glow, so I could find my way using the torch. I had to ask:
"How long do you think this will take?"
"Are you tired?"
"Not yet. But we've been walking all day and it's been long ..."
"Don't worry, Ed. The smell is getting more intense. We're almost there."
I was unsure of whether this comforted me or made the whole thing worse.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 06, 2015, 04:56:35 am
We eventually reached a hole in the cave floor. It was very large and round. There were further corridors down the way, but July pointed to the opening and said:
"Down there."
I asked:
"I only have a rope and a bit of climbing gear. How will I ..."
Before I could finish, July had grabbed me and jumped down into the hole. As we fell, she occasionally shot out her arms, stopping or at least slowing us down. She used every small nook and cranny to grab a hold, occasionally stopping to take a sniff and recover the trail. The hole proved to be the entrance of a wide network of tunnels. The darkness was complete. I had to switch off the torch. There was no point. The quickness of our movement made it impossible to stay oriented. I just hoped I wouldn't bash my head in on some protrusion.
As we descended ever faster, I could hear July howl with elation. She was having a lot of fun. I was clinging to her strange, wet skin and held to my dear life.
We finally stopped. I lowered myself out of her grip and took a few moments to recover and calm down my stomach. I said:
"Whoa. Couldn't you have told me you'd do that?"
"You wanted to be there faster, stop complaining."
"But it was so ... fast. I was afraid you'd get killed."
She knelt next to me:
"Ed, don't worry. I know what I'm doing. This body is the best. There's no reason to be afraid."
I switched on the torch and saw an enormous underground area. Below us, there were masses of writhing, mutant bodies amidst weird, distorted bodies. No reason at all to be afraid.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 07, 2015, 09:52:32 am
With a harrowing scream, the beasts turned to us and attacked. July pushed me aside, stood in front of them and cocked her head. She smiled at me and said:
"Finally, a challenge!"
The first wave hit her. July stretched her powerful arms, tore the first attacker's head (or whatever it used as a head) off, punched and threw the body and blocked the others. While they tried to recover the initiative, July gave them an insane grin, contracted her muscular body and shot herself forward. She hit the mass before her, striking left and right. Her blows went right through the creatures, every hit strong enough to punch a hole in one of them.
I saw the whole insanity in the flickering light of my torch. Her movement was supremely smooth, she dodged every attack, easily seeing them seconds before they even readied themselves. It was as if the assailants had switched into slow motion. Of course, this was just an illusion. July was a raging whirlwind.
Every time the attackers recovered, she was on them again, amassing piles of bodies. Slowly, they realised that they had hit an unstoppable force. As July waded through the corpses, she laughed, their blood-like liquid spraying her glistering body. If I ever wanted a vision of Hell, I had found it.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 08, 2015, 06:15:12 am

Eventually, the horde broke. July roared in triumph and shook her body. The blood drenching her sprayed around. She beckoned me to follow. I was shocked.
"What the hell did you just do?"
She stared at me with her bizarre, alien eyes.
"I cleared the way. Don't worry. These were just drones. They have no identity or anything."
"But wasn't there one of these creatures we met at the surgeon's place, all those years ago?"
"Yeah. As I said, don't worry. They're not worth it. They just do what the big guy wants."
"About that ..."
I wanted to finish my sentence, but I was interrupted. Suddenly, there was an ear-shattering sound. The thing had noticed us, which hardly surprised me, but it was now coming here. The ground shook and there was a strange and horrifying scraping on the floor. I suddenly found myself clinging to July's arm. She gave me a patronising smile:
"Don't worry. I'm here. The big slug won't hurt you."
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 09, 2015, 05:57:38 am
Then it was over us. The creature howled and rushed us. I threw myself behind a stalagmite, covering my face as its onslaught exploded the rocky outcrop next to me. It launched itself at July, who just grinned, jumped up and projected herself over it. With light steps, she reached the creature's back, ran over it and landed behind it. She twirled around, using the momentum to extend her arms and slammed her fists into its now defenseless soft spots. The monster turned around.
Only then did I realise just how mutated and monstrous it had become. The thing was no longer a slug. It had turned into a kind of mutant beetle, with long, spidery legs, a massive torso and an even bigger abdomen. The original guy that had once stuck out of it in front was now completely encased in a kind of bubble plated in chitin. It did really look completely bizarre. Just as I tried to get back on my feet, the thing fired tentacles from its abdomen, raking the air as July went by.
She landed next to it and taunted it:
"What are you doing, fat ass? Why do you hide in a hole if you're so big? You're going to get stuck!"
The creature, already angry, was now raging. It maneuvered around and prepared another attack. As it realigned itself, it shouted:
"Stop! Stand still so I can kill you!"
"You wish!"
With a sudden jump, July evaded the beast's tentacles, rolled away and propelled herself up, the meaty flails racing behind her. The thing realised too late that she had outmaneuvered it.
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 10, 2015, 06:48:52 am
The bundle of tentacles slammed into the creatures back, its tips sticking to the plating of its head. The thing flailed, trying to free itself. July was everywhere at once now. She jumped from one wall to the next, forcing the beast to continuously split its attention. It howled in frustration:
"Why won't you stand still? I must kill you!"
"Screw you. you're just a stupid plump insect and I'm going to swat you!"
I stared at the insane display, surprised both by July's agility and quickness and her tendency to shoot 80ies one-liners.
By now, she had managed to make the thing stick its own tentacles to its shell and had ducked quickly enough to make it tie itself together. She dodged again, her body a fluid form twisting between the creature's helpless attacks. I just saw her cling to its side when it tried to smash her against the wall, but she had crawled away in a blur, making the giant hurt itself. I could sense its frustration at this pointless fight.
July landed in front of it, the monster trying to focus on her. She said:
"Hey, stupid, why don't you calm down? I'm not here to kill you. If I had wanted this, I'd be done by now."
The creature screamed in frustration, lifted itself up and threw itself at her in a final hopeless charge.

Suffice to say, July was no longer there. The thing rammed the wall, dislodging further rubble and almost knocking itself out in the process. July grinned, struggling to suppress her laughter. She walked to the prone beast and said:
"Calmer now?"
The monster opened its armour plates and let the original humanoid shape emerge. It said, in a tone that echoed defeat in every syllable:
"Okay. What do you want? Why do you do this?"
She stood in front of it and said:
"Actually, I want to talk. I want to know what you are and I want to know how you transformed."
"But why?"
"As you may have noticed, there's a war going on up there. A war I intend to win. And you're going to help me. Got it?"
I somehow felt sorry for the monster. It looked at July almost sheepishly and said:
"I will."
"Wonderful."

July sat down on a rock next to the creature and said:
"Okay, so first of all, I'm July. That's Ed. Your name is?"
The beast was confused. It clearly took it a while to remember whatever name it once bore. Eventually, it said:
"I used to be Rodrigo. Rodrigo Francesco Velasquez Matamoros. It has been a long time."
"So you came up here with the conquistadors?"
"The conquistadors. Yes. I was caught by the savages. They bound me and punished me for defiling their holy sites. How were we to know? All my people were slaughtered and I became this unchristian ... thing."
July shot me an amused look. She said:
"Not bad, huh? This guy could be a fascinating piece for a history buff. Only, I don't really care."
She scratched her feet and added:
"Last time we met, you mentioned prophets. What do you mean by that?"
"It's too late now. The prophets were people who had found out about the Friends and the Siblings coming. They tried to warn humanity, but they were ignored. Some decided to create weapons for this battle. You are one of them."
"And you?"
"I don't care for this world. Not after what has happened to me. I will eventually be able to leave it. I can feel it."
"Leave it? As in go to space?"
"Yes. My body has been changing faster since the Friends arrived. Now, it is becoming ever more advanced and soon, I will be able to transcend this planet. And then, I will be close to God."
Not that July had any eyebrows left, but if she had, she would have cocked them.

"Okay, so since you're not going to help us protect humanity and defeat the Friends, can you at least tell us how to become stronger?"
"Stronger? Of course. I know enough about the Ancestors to tell you that you have to exert yourself to do that. They don't give things away for free."
The monster laughed.
"Also, you should be very careful. Invasion was only the first step. There's more coming. And I doubt you will like it."
I blurted out:
"What's going to happen?"
"You'd like to know that, don't you? Well, it's pretty easy. The Friends and the Siblings are not on your side. They've more in common than you'd think. So guess what: They understand how humanity works. They're going to get you to ingratiate you in front of them, then they're going to let you kill each other and then, finally, they're going to be best friends over your sad corpses."
I stared at July, but she just seemed amused by the prospect of extinction. I said:
"We've got to do something."
"Do we? You, as a human, are afraid. That's okay. The world has changed. You'd do better to accept this and adapt."
"You can't mean that, July."
"Why not? It's useless to argue."
"So you're going to leave it at that?"
"I never said that. I'm just not going to be part of your stupid conservative worldview. Change is good, it's necessary. You can't go back."
"But I preferred the way it was."
"Sucks to be you."

I blinked. Had I wasted my hope on this? I shook my head.
"No. I'm going to fix all this. I don't need your help. I'll manage. You stay with your weirdo friends and your monster shit. I've got a world to save. Just don't come crawling again if you realise that giving up your humanity was a bad idea."
I turned around and walked away.
I could hear her say to the creature:
"There you have it. Humans."
I could have sworn there was a chuckle. Still, I walked away as quickly as I could. I tried to retrace my footsteps, but as you might have expected, I was soon lost.
The light of my torch wasn't nearly enough to find my way and my traces and footsteps down here were probably too faint to be seen anyway.
I cursed to myself. Wonderful. First July turns on me and humanity, then I lose my way in the depths of the earth. I was probably going to starve to death if I didn't die of thirst before that. I know self-pity is not the malest characteristic to have, but right then, I just felt sorry for myself. It's not as if my life had been easy before all this, but now, it had definitely gone to hell. Fuck all this.

Down there, I not only lost my way, I also lost my sense of time. I must have wandered about in these caves for hours, maybe days. I came across glowing algae or fungi or something and let them grow on my torch, at least allowing me to not break my neck in the dark.
I have to admit, I was still pitying myself, but I wasn't going to starve to death. I managed to find some water which hopefully wasn't toxic and slowly started to get a feeling for the caves.
Slowly, I was realising that July was right. The world had changed and there was no going back. People turned into monsters, extraterrestrials fought wars on our planet, animals turned into weird crystally beasts. There was no way to return to a world of petty crime, terrorist threats and discussions about the future of marriage. Well, maybe it eventually would, but I'd probably would be quite old by then and wouldn't be able to appreciate it. I'd be angry about this. Certainly. Over that absurdity, I had to laugh. I must have been quite a sight, deep under the earth, walking around in a claustrophobic cavern and whooping like an idiot.
Still, all this was too absurd to even consider. I pictured myself on a porch, watching the half-Friend children ride on their anti-gravity scooters and going "damn kids, can't appreciate what a veteran of the great space anarchy did for them. Back in the day ..."
Ah yes, I was losing my mind.
For example, I just saw Wanda.

"Ed?"
That's when I slowly began to realise I might actually be seeing her. I stared at her, wondering whether she was actually there. She walked towards me, but I wasn't sure it was her. There was something ... different.
Of course. She had actually submitted to whatever weirdo procedure the Friends had given her. Indeed, she had turned into something strange.
I mean, her face was still her old one, but ... her eyes. They were now pitch black, without irises or the white thing, whatever it's called. Instead, she had many small eyes, like an insect. It was really frightening to watch. She had also grown taller. Like July, she was now walking on tiptoes, but she was also tremendously long. Her body had become broad and muscular in the shoulders, with a slim waist. Each one of her shoulders was as big as my head, with long, wiry arms covered in string upon string of muscle. She wore a black and blue skintight outfit, styled to look militaristic. It was probably something the human soldiers of the Friends wore when on official business. In the wilderness, I had only seen the robes and the simple military uniforms.
Despite her strange shape, she did look human enough at first.
Reluctantly, I answered her:
"Wanda? Is that you?"
She knelt down next to me and took a sniff. Her eyes blinked. There was something deeply wrong about her eyelids. That's when I realised they were constructed like camera shutters. That was unsettling. She said:
"Ed, how long have you been down here? You're completely dehydrated."
"Ah."
"Ed, we're going to take you with us and get you something to eat and drink. Is that okay?"
By then the situation had long since crossed any line of understanding. I nodded vaguely. She handed me a water-pack on which I immediately started suckling. Behind her two equally strange people assembled a stretcher and loaded me on it. Around that time, I lost consciousness, so everything became very sketchy.

When I woke up, I was in a hospital. At least I thought so. As I drifted in and out of consciousness, I began to understand that this was actually a prison cell. I was in the Friends' hands. I recovered slowly. Apparently, the combination of dehydration and years of very bad living had taken their toll. I also have to admit that I just enjoyed having a clean bed and a nice place. Being in prison beat being homeless. One of the sad, yet eternal truths of the world.
Of course, this couldn't go on forever. I didn't have a goal in life left, but I didn't want to rot in prison, even though that meant three meals a day.
Honestly, that was the time when I had to decide what I was going to do with myself. My previous plan was just drifting along, continuing a fight I hadn't yet found out I couldn't win. Now that that was decided, I still had no plan. Should I join the Friends, maybe even become one of these hybrids myself? Should I just try to set up a business? Who was I kidding. This world didn't need me anymore and I had to admit, neither did I need it.
As I was musing along, the door opened. In came two people from the Friend-Human-relationship Bureau. And Wanda. Mutant Wanda.

She wore a sleek black business-y outfit that hugged her enormous body tightly, repeating the hexes the Friends loved. She had kept her familiar dark skin which I had once loved to caress and had added some shades to prevent people from seeing her eyes, I guess. I didn't see the point. Anybody with even half a brain could see that she was a hybrid. She smiled and said:
"Are you better, Ed?"
"I am. How about you?"
"Never felt better."
She sat down next to me on the side of the bed. She still towered over me.
"Ed, we know it's been hard on you. Your underground activities have been straining on you and you've been in a really bad shape." She looked at her pad. "You wouldn't believe the parasites and diseases we managed to pull out of your body. You must feel so good now, just no longer feeding all this stuff."
I sighed:
"Actually, you're right. I do feel better."
"That's wonderful. With our history, I couldn't just ignore all this."
"With our history ... It's all moot now anyway."
"It is. But I still don't want you to be hurt. That would be cruel and pointless."
"If you say so."
She shrugged.

"Anyway, I have a proposition for you."
"Is this the part where you want me to rat on my friends?"
"What? No. The Friends don't think like that. No. I wanted to offer you an apartment and a job. Nothing special. Just some simple administration work. Pencil pushing."
"But why?"
"I pulled a few strings and I can't watch your chaos anymore. We used to be married, remember?"
"Every day."
She put her hand against her forehead.
"That's something you'd say."
"I know. I still can't forget that."
"For me, it was easier. As I said, you can have the apartment and the job. A place in our future."
"So, what do I have to do for this?"
"Just say yes."
"That's all? No names and numbers? No secrets?"
"We know most of them anyway. No. The only thing we really want is that you tell us if July shows up."
"I see."
"It's not that much of a sacrifice, seeing how she has decided to go full monster."
I thought about it. All in all she was right. Was I losing something? I couldn't tell.
Finally, I agreed.

So I got a normal life. Not a good one, just a normal one. I ended up with a nice two-piece apartment, a job at the Friend-Human-relationship bureau and I even got one of these weird matte-black cars the Friends and their allies are driving. This is the life, I guess. I had a nine-to-five with little to no responsibility. Actually, I never understood what I was supposed to do at my job anyway. I was supposed to research information on the history of Friend-Human-relations and write down essays about it, but since there wasn't much history yet, I quickly ran out.
I also have to admit that I had given up internally. Outside, I was merrily chatting away to the other people in my office building, but inside, I was just lost. I guess this was being ungrateful somehow. After all, my life did come with quite a few perks: First, I did end up with enough disposable income to enjoy the finer things of life. Not the really fine ones, but good, healthy food and occasional partying in the evening weren't completely impossible. Second, I got back together with Wanda. If I'm honest, I have to admit that she probably did that to keep me in check, but on the other hand, we did have a history, so yes, maybe she did still have feelings for me. I did have some for her.
We went to a big Friend-Human party where one of the Friends held a short and difficult to understand speech to which she reacted with a weird chirping noise. I guess this is the Friend way to show appreciation. After the party, we left and, I have to admit, we were completely drunk. I barely managed to walk. We somehow managed to reach my apartment and I offered her some coffee or something. Anyway, we were up there, then on the bed, then we slept with each other, I guess.

When I woke up again, I did feel normal for the first time in years. I was sleeping in my own bed, with my wife at my side. In the darkness, I couldn't see her, I could only hear her breathing. It was very relaxing to have her back next to me. I lay awake for a while. I was thinking. Maybe this was what I actually wanted. Maybe I wanted to live a normal life in a world gone mad. In a way, both July and Wanda were right: There was no way to go back to normal for everyone. But that didn't mean I couldn't have that.
I could feel Wanda stir. She mumbled:
"Are you awake?"
"Mhm."
"Let me guess. You're thinking about life, the universe and everything."
"You guessed right."
"Happens to me too. Being back with you is nice."
"Yes, it is. It's like old times."
She rolled over, making the mattress quiver. Of course, that brought her changed body back to mind. The spell was broken in an instant. However, I heard her say:
"Tell me, Ed, would you believe I never tested this new body fully?"
"I hadn't thought of it."
"Well, then, let's."

Somehow, there was a slight blue glow lighting the room. It clearly came from Wanda's mutant body. She climbed on top of me, her broad shoulders wider than mine. She slid her hand between my legs and began to touch and caress my dick. Suffice to say, I had a boner within seconds. She cooed:
"Whoa, that was quick."
She began stroking it until it was completely hard and slipped her cunt over it. I lay my hands on her waist and slid them up, reaching her flaring lats. I squeezed her muscles and was amazed by their tightness. Meanwhile, she had began riding me hard. I tried to keep up with her, holding my butt as hard as I could as she went into full grinding mode. Seconds later, she was slapping her ass against my thighs, pounding me with incredible ferocity. She gasped and grunted, always increasing her speed and intensity. I was amazed. Back in the day, Wanda occasionally got on top, but never like this. The hybridisation had turned her body into a perfect machine, powerful enough to make any athlete blush. She even managed to lift me by my cock only. I couldn't believe it.
I desperately tried to hold back my ejaculation, but was forced to give up when she suddenly deployed some weird internal tendrils that began to stroke me.
I came with a howling scream. This hadn't happened to me in decades.
She grinned, finally cumming and terminally soaking the sheets.

At work, normalcy was almost stiffening. I had inane conversations at the water cooler with colleagues, sat through meetings and even went on social gatherings. The Friends had taken to human sports a little and enjoyed participating. Their strength, speed and height made the playing field rather skewed, but I had to admit that it was exciting. Also, more and more human athletes applied for improvement, which further changed sports. Honestly, the first time I saw a football player just leap over the defence line and running along at the speed of a motorcycle, I was amazed. Of course, this meant big changes for professional sports. The discussions got equally lively.
One day, I was hanging out with Baz and Tanaka, two guys from work who were into baseball and MMA. The conversation on the first subject was still mostly nostalgic since most traditional teams had not yet recovered. Combat sports, however, were up and coming. Anything was fine to get rid of all the anger and frustration. After all, the world was no longer ours. Baz and Tanaka were watching a video on their smartphone.
"Hey, Ed, watch this!"
"Is this another scat video?"
"Nah. Just some really crazy fight."
"Okay, let me take a look."
I bent forward, half expecting to see someone shitting into another person's mouth. The joys of co-workers.

Instead, I was treated to an amazing fight. The contestants were clearly improved and were attacking each other at break-neck speed. It was fascinating to watch the fluidity of their motions and their ability to evade attacks with incredible precision. We were instantly engrossed by the action. Finally, one of the fighters managed to get inside the other's defence and started pounding away at him. The blows were hard and on target, so the victim was soon forced to the ground and defeated. The victor paraded around with raised fist and basked in the adulation of the crowd. The master of ceremonies climbed back into the ring and announced the next fight.
Baz said:
"Watch this. The next thing is fucking insane."
"... and gentlemen, here's the final fight for tonight. A fight you have been waiting for and which, I dare say, might be the most fascinating piece of violence you might have ever seen. As you know, we are always on the lookout for new, passionate fighters. For tonight, we have our resident champion in the red corner."
A hulking man with clearly improved features climbed into the ring. He was easily ten feet tall, with long, extremely powerful legs and muscle-bound arms that reached to his knees. He probably had the longest reach any fighter had ever had. I seriously wondered who they would get to challenge this monster.
"In the blue corner, a challenger that has proven her mettle in several underground tournaments. She is known for her unorthodox fighting style and her cryptic improvements, which are different from anything you have ever seen."
Was this for real?

Of course, it was July. I barely managed to suppress a curse. She climbed into the ring and I could see she had transformed further. The first thing I saw was that her already large shoulders had become even more enormous. She was a little shorter than her opponent, but easily as broad as he was, maybe even more. Her arms had become even larger and longer. When the bell rang, she immediately attacked the guy. She didn't bother with any showmanship or posturing. Instead, she launched herself in the air and shot her arms at him, the muscular flesh extending to strike him. Her opponent jumped out of the way. You could almost hear the ring groan from the strength of the blow. The other fighter attacked her from the side, but as she fell, she twisted around, her arms creating a spiral of fists and muscles. Her competitor was grabbed and thrown against the ring's walls. He rolled, got back to his feet and charged her.
July just twisted around and evaded his blows at break-neck speed. You could see his frustration. He roared in anger and tried to get hold of her, but she was like water. Every single blow failed to hit its mark. She recovered her stance, did a kind of cartwheel, landed behind him and slung her arms around his torso. She lifted him, squeezed and then did a German supplex which produced a noticeable crack as the guy landed on his head. He didn't have enough yet. He tried to get up and used his legs to free himself.
That's when something hopelessly confusing happened. Out of nowhere, July suddenly had a pair of shorter extra arms that grew out of her torso below her original ones. She began pounding her victim's face at full speed. It mustn't have caused much damage, but it was clear that the guy was surprised. He tried to recover, but then, July's neck stretched and she headbutted him, knocking him out. She stood up, her bonus arms folding themselves back into her torso. She lifted her arms and did a victory lap around the fallen fighter.

"Insane. I told you. What do you think, Ed?"
"Yeah, man, I don't know. I think all this is getting out of hand. People don't look like people anymore."
"That's true. Daria from accounting went to a big trade fair recently to see the new developments in biometrics. Apparently, all the new mixes between humans and aliens are screwing up the devices, so we're going to have to spend a lot of money on updates."
Tanaka was clearly annoyed:
"For real? Again? Ed, you weren't around, but the last upgrade took months. They changed the entire system over two weeks, but it locked everybody out of the toilets."
"I never really understood why we needed a permission handling system on the fucking toilets anyway."
"Whatever. My point is, if they update the system again, this whole place is going to be in complete chaos. For weeks."
"Yeah. Remember when Ashton got locked out of the kitchen? Just when the President was there and they couldn't even fix her some coffee?"
"Poor fucker."
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on July 27, 2015, 05:04:23 am
It was weird watching July becoming more and more inhuman while at the same time talking to my co-workers about trivial stuff like coffee. In the end, I got some for me and returned to my cubicle, careful to avoid additional attention. I finished my tasks for the day as quickly as possible and finally left. As I got out of the building, I dropped some money into a homeless guy's cup. This one sat next to our building and was developing an ever-worsening case of the blues, as the slow mutation or whatever it is is called. It's odd and awful to watch. People get these weird shapes under their skin, then it spreads and they look as if they were made of hexagons. Then they grow out of the skin. I never saw where it leads to, but people disappear and never come back, so I guess it must be fatal.
When I got home, I booted up my system and checked in on the channel Baz had chosen. There were a lot of videos and several of the new ones involved July. Since Wanda wouldn't come back in a while, I took my time and watched her. It was really impressive and also very creepy. She just beat those people into a pulp. Was it me, or was she growing stronger, faster and even more mutated as this was going on?
I seriously hoped she knew what she was doing. Who was I kidding? Maybe she knew, but she certainly didn't care.
I went to the fridge to fix me some food when the doorbell rang.
I wasn't expecting anybody.

I didn't know what I expected. There was a guy in a previously high-priced t-shirt, cargo pants and the stink of weeks in the gutter. He looked at me and asked:
"You Ed?"
"Yes. What do you want?"
"What does it look like?"
This guy didn't seem to be too keen on charity. Stupidly, I decided to nitpick.
"If you're looking for a handout, you're not exactly making it easy."
"Do I look like I want money?"
"Actually, you do. Also, how did you get past the doorman?"
He gave me a very confused look, then straightened up and did a "mystical" gesture.
"I have ways. Yes. Ways."
Incredible. So I was now wasting my time with a homeless guy.
"Is there anything else?"
"Of course. Here's for you."
He handed me an envelope. It was very grimy and probably contained a complete description of a big government conspiracy. Not that I didn't work for one. I took the envelope.
"Good. Now go."
"Why not give me some money anyway."
"Fine."
I pushed a few bills in his hands.
"Thank you. Enjoy the letter. It's from someone who misses you."
"Whatever."

I dumped the letter on my kitchen table and tried to figure out what I just had been doing. It turned out I was still hungry. I returned to the fridge, hoping to find something in it that was at least halfway worth eating. I grabbed some of that sludge the Friends brought us, popped it into the microwave and set the machine to meat and potatoes. It's not like the real thing, but it's a nice second best. Especially with condiments. The thing began to hum and whistle. I sat down with a beer and inspected the letter. It smelled and had taken a strange colour, clearly fitting to the pocket of a very grimy homeless man.
I took my knife and cut it open.
Just in that moment, the doorbell rang again.
I sighed:
"What the hell?"
I got back up, opened the door and found the same homeless guy looking at me.
"You ready?"
"Ready for what?"
"Do you have an answer for me?"
"I just barely sat down and wanted to have dinner."
"Dinner? That's a good idea."
He walked in, careful not to touch me and sat down, just as the machine finished.
"You can't just barge in there."
"I just did. Dinner?"
"Well ..."
I gave him the food, which had indeed turned into mashed potatoes and ground meat. He dug in instantly. With a stuffed mouth, he said:
"Read the letter."
What the hell.

I opened it and took it out. It was written on regular printing paper, nothing special. Other than the fact that this was the first hand-written letter I had received in decades, of course. I immediately looked down at the sender and stopped. Audrey had sent this. I was surprised. I hadn't expected her to find me after I left. Ignoring the chomps and slurps of my room-mate, I went through the text.
"Dear Ed!
I hope Sven finds you and gives you the letter personally. He's a good guy, don't let him down and give him something to eat."
Check.
I went to the fridge and handed Sven a bottle of beer. He took it with a grunt.
"Sven is one of our friends, although he doesn't care about our past. Don't annoy him with details."
I got it. I wasn't supposed to talk to him about politics. Not that I wanted to.
"I'm glad you're okay. We miss you and your friend and the whole situation hasn't exactly improved. We would be happy to meet again. We could hit our waterhole and just be amongst ourselves again. Why not come over once in a while? Just be careful to close the door once you're in. Wouldn't want any dirt on our carpet."
I guessed this had to be in code. Did I know where to find her? I thought so. Did I want to? I'd rather not. Getting involved in politics again, spending time with freedom fighters and shooting enemies or "Friends" was no longer an option. Honestly, I wanted to stay alone and alive. If Audrey wanted to continue fighting this battle, more power to her, but for me, it was enough.
I tore the letter into little pieces and flushed them.
Sven seemed a little annoyed about that. I explained:
"Tell Audrey I'm out. I don't care anymore."
He shrugged:
"Fine. Got another bottle?"
I did.

I went to bed after the guy had left. Although I wanted to sleep as quickly as possible, I instead lay in bed thinking about all this. What was I supposed to do? The world wouldn't go back to "normal", whatever that had been, regardless of what Audrey and her friends did. July was right. You had to embrace change.
I took my phone and looked for another video of July beating the living crap out of one of the underground fighters. I was lucky. There was a new one. July fighting four professional fighters. The show was incredible. She was everywhere, moving at break-neck speed. The camera had a hard time keeping up with her. The four musclebound fighters tried to outmaneuver her and get a drop on her, but she just squeezed between them, extended and retracted her arms, rolled and twisted and showered them in punches. Her moves were gracious, with a perfect elegance. She was like water: Calm, flexible, yet devastating and murderous. The first guy had already gone to the ground, his face bloody from one of her coiled punches.
Under the steady barrage of the presenter's comments, she managed to throw the second one into the others, forcing them to stand behind each other. A massive double blow sent the next foe to the ground. She went into splits to dodge the other attackers, standing up in one fluid movement before whipping them with her extended arms. Watching her fight was spectacular. Once she was done, the four opponents lay on the ground, clearly asking themselves what had happened.
Unsurprisingly, July was declared the winner.

I might have been in love with her. It was just hard to admit.

After this stunning revelation, I turned off the phone. I was angry with myself now. After all, out of two viable solutions, accepting change and fighting it, I had picked the third one: Do nothing and work in administration. I was a fool. I got back up, put my clothes on and just wanted to leave when Wanda came home. She was tired, blue and monstrous. I gave her an idiot grin and said:
"Just gotta pick something up. Be right back."
"At this time of night?"
"Sure. But don't worry. Make yourself comfortable."
"Whatever."
I sprinted down the street, looking for this Sven guy. Where could he have gone to?
I looked around. The usual spots the homeless used were suspiciously empty. There was probably some clean-up operation in progress. I preferred not to be seen. Indeed, moments later, some police drones buzzed by. I slipped into a supermarket, smiling wearily at the cashier who returned a tired, automatic smile.
Where could I meet him?
"Yes, that's it!"
The cashier continued his "kill me"-smile as I popped back out. I had to try the undercity once again. On the other hand, Wanda would get suspicious if I didn't return soon.

"Looking for someone?"
I wheeled around. It was Sven.
"Looking for me? Change of mind?"
"Well, yes. I think so. Listen, I can't be seen talking to you or to Audrey for that matter. But I have good news."
"Okay ... What's up? Birthday party?"
I ignored his sarcasm or joke or whatever this was supposed to be and said:
"I checked on my phone on the way here. In a month, we're going to do a bit security update. They're expecting everything to go well, but everybody knows it won't. Our system is going to be unstable for at least a week. Tell Audrey to prepare for that. Whatever she has in mind will work best during this time."
"Do you want to talk to her and explain it yourself?"
"I don't have time. I'll meet you here as soon as I know more."
"Okay. I'll be around."
"Wonderful. You know what, I doubt that we'll ever go back to normal. But I think we can change something and maybe improve this."
"Maybe ... I'll tell Audrey. See you around."
He shambled off. I popped back into the supermarket and got some stuff for Wanda. Better make this a nice evening.

I got home as fast as possible and found Wanda lounging on the sofa, watching some show on TV. It was one of those weird new sitcoms that included the Friends. Wanda was somehow involved in their production and was quite proud of them. It was all a part of trying to make everything that had happened seem normal. For me, the jury was still out whether this was fun or propaganda. Probably both.
Wanda had the stunned look of someone who had just overdone everything. She sat their in her white, functional underwear and smiled at me.
"You're back. Want to watch? It's okay, I guess."
"Sure. I got something to drink for us."
"I hope it's nothing too strong."
"It's white and sparkly. So I guess we're both going to be pretty drunk in a moment."
"That's a stupid idea."
"Sure. Happily, I also got some snacks."
"Is there an occasion?"
"I don't know. Probably. Also, do we need an occasion?"
I poured her a glass of the sparkly stuff, we clinked glasses and I tore open the snackbox. It had a Friend and a human compartment. The Friends had these weird spirally things that were very crunchy. You really needed jaws of steel to eat them. Trust me, I tried.

When the show was over, I slipped my hand on her thigh. It was interesting and weird to feel her chorded muscles so close under the skin. Ever since her transformation, Wanda had become fitter and fitter. She also spent quite a lot of time at the gym of her department. They also had special classes for improved people, which started out as self-defense classes and eventually turned into full-on tactical training. Without actually realizing it, Wanda had become a very proficient fighter and a talented warrior. Still, she was my wife of sorts and now that we were both quite drunk, I decided to act on it.
"Wanda, are you as pissed as I am?"
"Angry pissed or drunk pissed?"
"Drunk pissed."
"I am."
"Good."
I slipped my hand further down her thigh and tickled her knee. She giggled stupidly:
"Stop it."
"I might."
"No, seriously, stop it."
She snorted. I stopped for a second, then continued, immediately provoking a burst of laughter.
"You know what, I'm going to stop. But first, I'm going to do this ..."
I slipped my hand upwards and pushed her underpants aside. She grinned, her eyes opening wide.
"Nice."
"Just you wait."

I opened her legs and slipped between them. It had been a little difficult for her to wiggle out of her underpants while I was still rubbing her off, but then again, it always is. By the time she was nude, I was merrily licking her clit and her labia, careful not to make her cum right away. She gasped and moaned and I was actually enjoying myself. In a way, I was in control and I was giving her pleasure, both of which really relaxed me. Although relaxation might be the wrong term: I was growing harder and harder at the same time.
Licking her was a little odd though. Her clit was there and it was a rather hard and biggish nub, but there was something below it, like an additional, hexagonal one. Every time I touched that one with my tongue, she really shivered in lust. So of course, I did touch that a lot.
"This is so nice ..."
"It tastes funny."
"You're stupid. I love you!"
I continued licking and slurping. I was now circling her little hex-nub and it was equally expanding. Below, her cunt was now soaking wet and overflowing with juices. She was gasping for air.
In between gasps, she said:
"Be careful ... This is ... Good ... Gah ..."
I intensified my licking, my pants now seriously tented by my erection. It tasted funny, but there was a certain wonderful effect to it and I was absolutely being drawn to her like a fly to honey.
"Oh my ... God ... Ed ... When did ... you learn ... to do that?"
I didn't bother to answer, instead following the lines and ridges of her pussy. She lifted her legs and wrapped them around my face, squeezing me and pushing me closer. With all the juices, I found it hard to breathe, but I licked on. It was just too good.

Squeezed as I was between her powerful thighs, I did my best to keep up the rhythm. I could tell from her moans that I was doing the right thing. She was now gushing and I had to pause and gasp for air from time to time, but I still managed to continue working her snatch.
I could hear her egg me on:
"Oh God! Ed, this is so good! Please! Lick me! Lick me, you fucker!"
I obliged, increasing both speed and power and making her all stiff and throbbing down here. Her thighs were now bulging against the sides of my head and I was suddenly aware that she was able to crush my skull by just flexing a little more. Oddly enough, this made me just hornier. Right then, I just wanted to pleasure her.
That's when her first orgasm hit. She struggled to get a gasp of air as her entire body tensed. Then, her cunt erupted, showering me in her juices. I heard her scream:
"Don't stop! For the love of God, don't stop!"
I did what I could. She continued her gasps and suddenly began ramming her clit into my face. I was a little surprised, but I just played along. I had never done anything like this to a woman and I wasn't going to stop now. She howled in passion, trying to get release again, but clearly, she was still climbing that mountain.
By then, my tongue was aching, my face was plastered in her juices and I was getting really horny. Continuing this was hard. I gritted my metaphorical teeth and twirled my tongue, sending her over the edge again.
"Goood ..."

That's when I finally had to accept that my wife was now a monster. Just as she came again, that hexagonal nub under her clit started to expand and grow. At first, I didn't realize what it was doing, but by the time I did, it had become a long appendage that began forcing itself down my throat. I was suddenly caught between her legs, unable to pull back. In the beginning, the situation was highly uncomfortable, but somehow, all this sexual whirlwind made me complacent and accepting, so I just began licking and sucking it, all the while continuing my ministrations of her clit.
The act of letting the hexagonal thing into my mouth made Wanda start to howl with lust. Clearly, this thing was some kind of alien hyper-clit. I worked for all I was worth, clearly increasing her already incredible arousal even further. By now she was screaming and howling, somehow trying to both get me to stop and further increase my intensity. I was getting very strange messages now as she continued pounding my face with her crotch:
"Stop! No, don't stop ... Ah ... Oh, my ... Don't ... This is so good ..."
She was really blowing her mind here.
I felt the thing expanding further, so I began bobbing my head, feeling strange at first. This was something I rather associated with, well, women, but there I was. For her, it was the next step to take:
"Ed! Ed! Hell, what are you doing? How are you doing this? Don't stop, don't ever stop!"
I obliged, careful to keep up the rhythm. As I felt down to my own cock, I couldn't help realize that it was now almost painfully erect, clearly larger than it ever was and desperate in need of finally fucking someone. For now, I was stuck, though.
With a long-winded howl, Wanda came again but showed no sign of stopping. If anything, she increased her intensity.

I continued working her, licking and sucking as good as I could and I was realizing she had no limit to her arousal. I have to admit that was news to me. Long ago, Wanda had sort of lost interest in sex, but now that she was fused with alien technology, she was insatiable. I sucked on her hyper-clit and did my best to hold my own erection under control. No point to blast our floor. Still, I was getting desperate. I wanted to fuck her too just as she fucked me. I decided that I might get her to finish if I further increased the intensity. She definitely appreciated it and instantly began to gasp and grunt, producing several indistinct shouts:
"Yes, that's it, go on, faster, come on, yes, yes, yes!"
I was doing it right. Definitely.
What I hadn't expected was just how insanely alien she had become. That's when the skin below her meta-clit suddenly expanded and unfolded. Before I could react, my head disappeared in a kind of skin-hood that stuck to my face and began to grope for my face. I heard her muffled screams of ecstasy, choking and gasping for air as my head became the pleasure center of her bizarre man-eating clit.
Now don't misunderstand me. It was extremely odd and terrifying, but it was also extremely arousing. For some reason, disappearing in this weird "thing" made me so horny I half expected for my body to just burst with ecstasy.
When Wanda finally came, I was showered in some weird bluish liquid and gasped for air, struggling to free myself, all the while trying to get my raging erection under control. I landed on my back and struggled to recover. Wanda lay there, completely knocked out by the sheer power of her orgasm. It took me a while to just get my mind back, but my erection was still there.
I got on all fours and stumbled towards her, grabbing her large breasts and laying on top of her. She looked at me with an expression of rapt ecstasy and said:
"I never knew you had this in you. Fuck me now!"
Title: Re: The Procedure
Post by: El_Roy_1999 on August 09, 2015, 02:49:51 pm
I looked at her exhausted yet horny face and said:
"I will. I will!"
She grabbed me with her legs and began pounding my butt. I instantly felt incredible. It was really hard not to come instantly. I slid my cock into her and began hammering away at her. She writhed below me, making it even better for me. Watching this huge woman under me gave me a false sense of superiority which I none-the-less enjoyed. However, I couldn't help noticing that I wasn't in control. Wanda knew exactly what she was doing.
When I came, it felt good, but it also felt hollow. I lay on top of her, my hand on one of her proud breasts and asked:
"How did it come to this?"
"You brought an evening surprise. Good idea, honey."
"I didn't mean that. I mean that I'm here getting fucked by my half-alien wife."
"It's progress, honey. Don't be annoyed about it. Admit it, that was the best sex you ever had."
"It was."
"I thought so. Don't worry too much. We've got a good thing going on. And guess what? We might even go for round two."
"I should clean up a little first."
"But I like you dirty, honey."
She stroked my hair absentmindedly. Honestly, all this was beginning to make me uncomfortable. I was in the middle of a serious role-change and turning into my wife's fuck-toy wasn't too high on my list of priorities. Not that I had any way of approaching the subject, after all, she could probably beat me into a pulp.
She did oblige and suck me off later on, though.

I spent the next morning staying in bed and watching of July's fights. She was impressive. Even opponents much larger than her were easily defeated. I think what she really needed was a serious challenge. Wanda had gone to work and had left a note suggesting that she had enjoyed herself last night. Me too, but the whole thing had been very confusing to me. I didn't know how to react.
Basically, I was now met with a choice. I could stay here, work at the office, close my eyes and get fucked by Wanda. That was the safe option.
I could run away with Audrey and try to fight this system. That would probably mean sleeping in the street again and eventually getting killed by Wanda and her Friends. That was the stupid option. You might also call it the idealist's option, but come on.
And then, there was number three: I could keep up appearances, return to July and help her get better. Imagine what a formidable monster she could become. And guess what? Maybe she'd rid us all of the Friends and their problems. I mean, who was I kidding, she had no chance, but maybe I could just spend time on my pet project and enjoy her company.
While eating breakfast, I made up my mind. I would keep Audrey informed, but I didn't want a part in her fight anymore. July, on the other hand, was worth it.
I immediately started looking for suitable opponents. Via Wanda, I had some access to the personnel data of the Friend-Human bureau. There might be some serious muscle there.

A week later, I had my file ready. It had been difficult to get all the materials together without arousing suspicion, but I think I did well. I doubt the authorities understood what I was planning. At least I hope so. Anyway, I got all my data in one pack and smiled to myself. Each one of these guys and girls was a monster. July fighting them would definitely be a show and a challenge. Somehow, I imagined myself as the promoter of one of these video game martial arts tournaments. I should definitely get an idiot haircut.
Still, now that I had everything planned, it was time to talk to July. For once, I had made up my mind. I'd just have to follow this through and it would finally work. At last, I would do something to change the world, even if it only meant transforming a high school friend into a monster. Boy, that came off as completely insane. Still, insane times need insane solutions.
I took the opportunity of Wanda's next business trip and descended into the madness of underground fights. By carefully following the messages on one of the forums I was reading, I was able to locate the next arena. I put on my "unrecognizable" outfit and slipped away, the list carefully hidden in my parka. It took me a while to get there. The taxi service doesn't extend down there and I didn't want to take Wanda's special car. It was too conspicuous and was probably traced by the bureau. No sense in screwing up my plan before even starting.
After a surprisingly long walk, I reached an abandoned site that had once housed several depots. The place seemed deserted at first, but as I came closer, I saw several rather expensive cars waiting for their owners. This was one of these 80ies movies moments. Remember Jean-Claude van Damme? Something like that.
I approached the warehouse and was immediately checked by two brutes in wife-beaters. They looked for weapons and recording equipment. Since I had neither, they let me in. Before I could reach the arena, another one patted me down and asked me where I had found the location of the fight. I explained what I learned on the forum and he let me in.
So far, so good.
Inside, there was a ring, several chairs and rows of benches. I found a nice place and sat down. Checking the audience, I saw a few people I recognized from TV or the internet. Interesting. There was a little glamor in the front row, but behind that, the spectators were mostly people who enjoyed watching somebody getting the living shit beaten out of them.

The first fight was pretty boring. It involved two guys who were regular humans in shorts, beating each other up. The fight took its time and involved a lot of holding back and recovering. It was probably interesting from a tactical point of view, but for me, it wasn't spectacular enough. It ended with a technical victory and some boos from the audience, who clearly felt cheated out of their spilled blood. The next fight involved two amazonian women. They too were normal humans, but their species was the only thing normal about them. The taller one was a pale blonde with cornrows and wide shoulders. She would have fitted on any football pitch and put most linemen to shame. She also had these really long arms and legs, all covered in muscles. The announcer declared her name to be Sigrid. She did look like a viking goddess, especially with the runic and swirly blue tattoos. Her opponent was a shorter Asian woman, maybe a Mongol. She had a shaved head and although she was less gigantic than Sigrid, she was still as tall as me. Börte, as she was announced, had even larger shoulders than her opponent and carried less body-fat. As a result her muscles really stood out, making her look almost like a bodybuilder.
Börte jumped on her spot, getting her blood pumping. She was defending her rank and was clearly the more experienced fighter. I had to admit, I was stoked to see them fight. Sigrid cocked her head, stretched and let fly a few punches and kicks to warm up. There was a certain snappiness to them. I was anxious to see who would win. The referee held his usual sermon to respect their opponents and to stop when ordered to, then he got out of the way.
The fighters assessed their opponents, careful not to expose themselves right away. For me, it was clear that Sigrid held most advantages. Her longer reach would be perfect for this. However, while I was still musing, Börte attacked. It was fascinating to see. Despite her large body and her massive shape, she did move smoothly and quickly, dodging left and right and evading her foes attacks. Sigrid tried to get away from the smaller assailant and attempted to reestablish her distance by jabbing at the approaching shorter fighter, but her blows went wide.
Börte connected and started hammering at Sigrid's body. The taller woman grabbed her opponent and tried to throw her to the ground. Börte lowered her stance and continued raining punch after punch on her victim's body. In the end, Sigrid saw no other option than just holding to her and launching herself at the ground with Börte. The shorter woman was unbalanced and crashed to the ground, immediately trying to roll away, but found Sigrid landing on top of her.
The audience erupted in cheers as the two fighters scrambled to their feet.

Before they could get up, Börte rolled forward and slammed into her opponent, sending her to the ground again. She began pounding her at full force, raining blow after blow on the taller woman. The blond fighter managed to recover and get her guard up, but found herself pinned down by her foe. It was clear that she was distressed, but the referee took no action. Clearly, this was serious. The Mongol was happy, hammering on, her fists busting up Sigrid's face.
At last, the other woman summoned her strength and got up. There was a short scuffle as she got to her feet and kicked Börte in the head. The target blocked the blow, but nonetheless had to recover for a second. Instantly, the field changed. The pair was once again locked in a grab. Börte clung to her foe, managing to stay within her range. The taller woman suddenly jumped forward legs first and slung them around the Mongol's waist. This move, clearly out of desperation, surprised her enough not to dodge.
They landed on the canvas again. Like the coils of a boa constrictor, Sigrid locked her legs and began to squeeze the life out of her victim. Börte tried to hold against this with her superheroic body. It was clearly difficult for her, caught in a mantrap made of flesh. Sigrid grinned  through her mouthguard and made her leg muscles swell even more. The other woman was resisting heroically. She hadn't expected to end up like this, helpless and caught. The squeeze increased, making it hard for her to breathe. After failing to twist out of it, Börte decided to attack instead. She grabbed her opponent's hips and slammed her head into her stomach. Again. Again!
The blows struck home, Sigrid was forced to flex her abs to withstand the attacks. This in turn made her relax her legs. Börte seized the moment and unwound herself from her trap.
With a lightning-fast move, she was on top of her opponent and sent a massive blow directly at her surprised face. The viking woman spat out a trail of blood and landed on the canvas.
The referee checked on her and instantly declared Börte to be the winner.
I was excited now. This fight had been much better. July was up next!

Suddenly, the audience fell silent. There was a kind of weird fanfare and blue light shone down from the ceiling. A door opened and a huge man walked in. Even before his improvement, he must have been one these six feet eight, 280 pound monsters. With improvement, he had become a giant, well over ten feet tall. He had huge arms and weird hexagonal spikes all over his body. A gargantuan monster with pale and blue skin. His body constantly produced a kind of bluish mist that trailed behind him. His shoulders were covered by a cape that repeated the hexagonal pattern.
The announcer declared:
"Tonight's challenger is an honored special guest. One of the first humans to be improved by our Friends, he has since become the commander of their special strike force. He's on shore leave and has agreed to join us here for a friendly bout against our resident champion! Ladies and Gentlemen, please put your hands together for Laurin Williams!"
The cheers were deafening. People jumped out of their seats as the giant threw off the cape, revealing his lower body, which was pitch-black and covered in glowing hexagonal shapes. Clearly, this guy had his style and knew it well. He put up his arms and received the adulations of the crowd.
The announcer handed him the microphone. His baritone voice echoed through the arena:
"Ladies and Gentlemen! I'm very honored to be here. It's incredible to be able to measure myself to the best fighter of this proud city. I'm really looking forward to it and promise not to demolish her too much!"
There were cheers and boos as he returned the microphone and went to his corner.
That's when the light changed, bathing the arena in deep green light. I somewhat expected a pro wrestling entrance, but it went a little different.

There was a rumble below the roof. The huge guy looked around. He smiled. He was clearly anticipating July's entry and was getting ready for the fight. Another squeal of metal followed. And another. Bangs and bumps followed. The audience looked up now. There was a shadow above, moving along the rafters at high speed. The lamps switched around and shone up, drawing the attention of the spectators to a shadowy figure.
Then, suddenly, she dropped down. July landed on the canvas, bending down on her knees and pausing for effect. She threw off the cape she was wearing and roared in challenge. I could see that the other fighter was a little shocked by this insane display of power. July had transformed even more. She was as tall as him, but her already odd legs had transformed further, making her walk on the tips of her toes while at the same time absolutely bursting with muscles. Her heels ended in strange protrusions that looked a bit like spurs. All in all, her lower body looked completely feral.
Above, her super-slim waist had equally transformed. It had now transformed into a protruding kind of double row of abs that pushed forward before flaring out into the most enormous shoulders I had ever imagined. These led to arms that were a good 36 inches around and constantly extended and retracted. They ended in large, four-fingered hands that were at least the size of my head, probably even bigger. At the same time, the smaller arms she had displayed before were still here, now a little longer and even more refined. The whole impression was completely absurd.
Her bizarre body maintained its surreal femininity by including a pair of very large, bulbous breasts reminiscent of some Japanese comics.  Definitely odd.
The weirdest part of her body was now definitely her face. She had somehow acquired two additional eyes below her original ones as well as a large sphere growing out of her forehead. Her hair was still there, braided in strange, thick dreadlocks. However, the top of her head spread out like a hammerhead's making her completely alien.
She looked at her opponent, opened her mouth and let two strangely prehensile tongues flare out. She said:
"Nice. Almost a challenge."

After more than a year of daily updates, I'm going to take a short break. Just to get the creative juices flowing again. It's probably not for long, maybe two weeks or so, but I think I need it.
I still hope you enjoy this story and I'm really looking to continue it soon.

So on we go.

Williams took his time. He was clearly aware of July's track record, so he got his guard up and readied himself for the fight. July, on the other hand, just stood there lazily. She sized him up, then she attacked. She jumped forward and launched her fist at him. Her muscles extended and her arm suddenly shot forward. Williams had expected the attack and dodged it, but he found himself surprised when it split in two and hit him. He was smashed back and tried to recover.
July immediately followed up with a blow from her other hand. Her opponent recoiled and tried to grab her arm. July came in close and hammered away at him with her smaller pair of arms which suddenly popped out of her torso.
Williams had thought himself prepared for everything. It turned out he hadn't anticipated the complete and utter bizarreness of July's body. He was struggling to cope with this. Recovering from her attacks, he returned to what must have been his initial plan and tried to grab her, impaling her on the spikes. July saw it coming, and squeezed her body upwards, popping out of his grip. He looked up, she kicked his face and landed on him, biting his face.
There were protests from the crowd, but she just howled and jumped back into the rafters.
The giant screamed in pain and tried to spot her. He looked up and immediately found her foot in his face. Williams was thrown to the ground. He grabbed her leg, twisted it and threw her on the canvas. She tried to get back up, but he had her now.
He grinned:
"Not so fast now, are you?"
Title: Re: The Procedure

July smiled at him in the most alien way, twisted her torso by 180 degrees and pushed herself off the ground. Williams tried to pin her and struggled to wrap his arms around her. It was clear that he was very strong, even stronger than July, and that his spikes hurt her, but he hadn't taken into account her tenacity. She didn't even try to squeeze out of his grip. Instead, she stabilized herself and countered the grab by wrapping her arms around his chest. While he tried to break her, she began pushing the air out of his lungs.
She laughed:
"You idiot! You're still thinking you're fighting a human."
"What are you?"
"I'm more than you could ever imagine. I'm so beyond anything you could understand!"
She contracted her arms, making him gasp for air. As if he had turned into a sea urchin, his spikes began protruding everywhere, but it was clear that he was almost done. He tried to get back on his feet, but found his legs equally paralyzed by her steel grip.
"You're cute when you struggle!"
He stared at her alien eyes.
"You're going to be an excellent addition."
"What?"
"Haven't you heard? My body is able to learn from what I fight. You're stronger than me now, but wait for me. Soon, I'll be even stronger."
"Don't eat me!"
She laughed:
"I won't, don't worry."
He sighed, but then dropped unconscious. She got up, pulled him up and let the cheers of the crowd wash over her. She bowed mockingly and climbed out of the ring. I was already on my way down to get backstage and meet her.

I just came in as she slipping out of her very sweaty fighting clothes. I had to convince the door guy first, but honestly, I think he was just too intimidated by her potential wrath to stop me. Without turning around, July said:
"Can't you knock?"
"It's me."
She stopped, then added:
"Ed, can't you knock?"
"Uh. Yeah, so I'm sorry."
"Whatever. I'm way too alien to care about clothes anyway. Is that what you're going to talk about?"
"Actually, no. I mostly came to watch you fight and offer my help."
"Your help? Why should you? Did your wifey kick you out again?"
"Wanda? No. I'm just here to help."
"Ed, I don't give a shit."
She turned around and I stared at her insane body. It was indeed completely inhuman. She continued:
"I heard your wife has also become a 'monster', so I guess you're now spoiled for choice, is that right?"
"Listen, I came here to help you turn yourself into a better fighter. I want to help you fight and free our world."
She blinked her insane eyes.
"Why would I want to do that? Are you seriously suggesting this can be undone? Hell, should it even be?"
"Shouldn't it?"
She almost shouted her answer:
"No! Why the hell would anybody want that? This world is awesome. I can be a freak's freak and it's okay. And, seriously, that is all I ever wanted. I wanted to be a big, scary monster. With big muscles, big teeth and crazy eyes."
"But ..."
"No, Ed. This is what I wanted to be, this is the world I always wanted. It was you who always hesitated. You hesitated when you could have me, you hesitated about Wanda. You always hope for something better, but it just won't happen."
"Are you serious about this? I mean, this world is completely crazy. It's hell for most people."
"I don't care about most people. Caring about most people doesn't make anything better. Either you do something, or you don't. Just wandering about and latching to one female hero after the other won't improve your situation. It'll just make you annoying."
"I thought you'd be glad to see me."
She stooped down and looked at him with a toothy smile:
"But I am. It's just that you're a friend and a fuck-buddy, but you're also a dreamer that always just comes up with the next big thing to run after. And I don't care. I live in the present. I'm having fun, so I'm doing this. Got it?"
"I think so."
"Good. My point is: You hope for me to see it your way and to fight the alien invaders so you can go back to live your misery with Wanda and maybe fantasize about fucking me."
I wanted to protest, but she interrupted me:
"No, I know that."
I nodded a little. She went on:
"Good. What I say is that the world has changed and maybe it's time you change too. Maybe just build up enough confidence and fight your fights."
"So you're done with me?"
"In a way, yes. But you can come over and fuck, if you want to."
I was crestfallen.
"I had an awesome plan to make you bigger and stronger. Audrey was all for it."
"That's nice, but I'm good. You can go now, because I definitely am."
I didn't really know what to say.
"So this is it?"
"I think so. See you around."
There was an awkward moment of silence. She put everything in a big bag and headed out. I fucked up, didn't I? I followed her outside.
That's when Wanda and her troops plopped up and opened fire. July jumped into cover and asked:
"So you actually led them to my place? Are you stupid?"
I guess I was, but I did get to watch a big final fight, which is fine, maybe.
Title: Re: The Procedure

I lay on the floor and just hoped for it to stop. July looked at me, shook her head and said:
"You're an idiot, Ed, but I'm still going to save your ass."
With these words, she jumped out of cover, attacked the first attacker and slammed him into a wall easily. The others immediately opened fire at her, but she just jumped up and pulled herself into the rafters. There, she moved along quickly, dropped down behind them and extended her arms to mercilessly smash them down. She bent backwards and twisted around through the air, jumped at another one and knocked him out even through his armor. She was on a roll. Wanda ordered the other troops to attack, but there was no point. July was a whirlwind of fists and feet and she easily destroyed them. Their attack was immediately disrupted and the gigantic monster-woman advanced on her sole remaining opponent, transforming further as she came closer. Her body grew further, bringing her closer to twelve feet. She also became wider and more and more muscular while the procedure put her body into a higher gear. Her head distorted further, extending a pair of very bizarre appendages that looked like fins. She smiled at Wanda, who looked both tiny and weak next to her. Also, Wanda was almost human compared to this insane parody of life.
She also tried to shoot July. And failed. The monstrous woman slammed into her lesser counterpart and threw her to the ground.
"That's all? After all the fuss, I sort of expected you to put up a real fight."
Wanda stared at the monster above her.
"Don't overextend yourself. I know exactly what I'm doing."
With these words, she activated a device on her wrist.
July frowned mockingly:
"Let me guess. An airstrike?"
"No chance. It's much more close and ... personal."

Wanda spasmed and grunted. Suddenly, a surge of energy flashed through her. I could see that the thing on her wrist was doing its work. Within moments, she began to grow and transform. July backed off, but was anxious not to miss a thing:
"This is what I was talking about. Ed, take notes. Look at this. This is what I want."
Clearly pained by her transformation, Wanda managed to reply between her teeth:
"You're still trying to become a worse freak, don't you?"
"Of course. I guess you can understand that, you being a monster yourself now."
"I'm no monster."
"Are you certain? You should look into a mirror once in a while. Tell me, Ed, is your wife a monster?"
I definitely didn't answer that.
Meanwhile, Wanda got up. She had expanded and grown and now easily stood eight feet tall. She was shorter than July, but her body was nonetheless impressive. Her muscles had tremendously expanded, her chest was over a yard wide and her waist was tiny and full of muscles. She had also acquired a set of very dramatic spikes and an equally bizarre set of ridges all over her back. The hexagonal plating on her body had also transformed and was now much more three-dimensional. All in all, her body was just as strange as July's.
Just as she got ready to fight, her jaw opened and extended a pair of tusks.
July was excited:
"This is going to be awesome. First we fight, then I take your power. I'm going to be a gigantic monster. Unstoppable."
"You'll have to beat me first."

The pair met. Within moments, there was a horrific crash and they sought to overpower each other. Their muscles swelled, their monstrous arms struggled to wrap themselves around their bodies. July extended her coiled, overloaded legs and pushed Wanda down, but the older woman resisted valiantly, forcing her spikes into July's skin. Soon, some weird, clear fluid was leaking everywhere as July's arms split and she tried to strangle her opponent. Wanda laughed it off:
"You're honestly trying to go for my neck? Pathetic! I'll show you what I can do!"
She flexed her neck muscles and easily forced her opponents grip apart, while at the same time deploying more razor-sharp spikes. July released her and grunted:
"That wasn't half bad. But don't worry, there's more where that came from."
While Wanda advanced on her, she stepped back, slowly moving to Wanda's side. She put all of her hands on the floor, widened her stance and contracted her muscles. Armor plates emerged from her skin, giving her an insectoid look. Wanda continued her progress, snorting in disdain:
"That's all you got? I was almost worried."
She launched herself in the air and prepared to drop on July with full force. July evaded her attack, or at least planned to, because Wanda suddenly released her spikes in a swarm of steel-hard barbs that hit July with full force. Temporarily confused, the taller monster-woman tried to recover, but was knocked down by her opponent. Something started oozing from the hexagonal plates that covered Wanda's body.
"Do I have a surprise for you. You're not going to like it!"

The flow became stronger and Wanda gasped, clearly aroused by whatever was going on in her mutant body. I didn't notice it at first, but several small cracks had formed in her armored skin and there was more fluid gushing from there. She spread her shoulders and said:
"I never expected I'd need this, but it does feel good. I probably should have done it months ago!"
July hammered away at her opponent and tried to disentangle herself from Wanda's monster thighs that held her. She grunted:
"Let me go, you bitch!"
"Oh, July. Why are you so ... insulting. You forced yourself into my marriage. You keep fucking my husband. You keep breaking into my life. You shouldn't use such words except to talk about yourself. I'll show you!"
With these words, she brought her legs further together, forcing the emerging spikes on her inner thighs into July's sides. The taller monster roared in pain and intensified her attacks, but Wanda only gasped louder and faster.
"It's coming! It's coming!"
July bared her teeth and bent forward to at least tear a chunk out of her dominatrix, but all she managed was to scrape the armor.
Suddenly, a change went through Wanda's body. She grunted and howled as her orgasm hit. Her armor abruptly split open and a large, bluish ... thing emerged that slowly consolidated into a bizarrely large feminine shape. Still, her alien roots were all over her. The body was dripping with slime, but the hexagonal pattern was all over her and slowly solidified into a layered scaly armor. She howled in triumph and extended a plethora of tentacles from her back. Her face was oddly stretched over a deformed cranium and her jaw extended further, increasing the size and monstrosity of her tusks.
As she crashed down on July, her armor scales uprighted themselves and turned into a razor field. July screamed as she was struck by her gigantic opponent.

The younger woman tried to force the monster from her. July head-butted Wanda's stretched face, but only managed to impale herself on one of the tusks. Wanda grinned insanely and extended her tentacles, wrapping them around July's arms and legs.
"Are you impressed yet?"
"How can this be?"
"Easy. Your love for the Ancestors and their weirdness is unwarranted. We are the true masters of this world now. Humans, Ancestors, Siblings, they will all fall. Look at me! This is more than the Friends. I have become a hybrid and I am more than the sum of my parts."
She bent down on the bound victim and smiled a very toothy, utterly monstrous smile.
"So, how does it feel? How does it feel being weak and beaten at your own game?"
July tried to pull her face away but clearly Wanda was much more powerful than her. My monstrous ex-wife squeezed her further, making her struggle against the coils of her tentacles. July desperately fought to prevent her arms and legs from being broken.
I stood there, watching the scene, but I was confused. I couldn't decide. Wanda was, well, my wife of sorts. She was a monster, but I had memories of our time together long ago. Also, she used to be ... nice. Our time together lately hadn't been bad either.
July, on the other hand, was as alien to me as she always had been. She'd been strange long before her transformation. Somehow, you could say that she had only moved to the outside what she had always truly been. She had been honest. Brutally so.
Did I love her? Did I love either of them? I couldn't say. But July ... was honest. And honesty made us friends. Not Friends, so to say.

I was quite certain that I was about to make a big mistake.

I ran towards Wanda and desperately longed for something cool to say. I didn't come up with anything. Instead, I slammed into her with a stupid shout that went somewhere along "Gwah!". It was a little ridiculous. I also got cut pretty bad. However, I did give July the time to recover and to free herself from her assailant. She quickly extended her smaller additional arms and clapped both of Wanda's ears. The taller, more monstrous woman howled in pain and rolled over. July stood up again and gave me a thankful smile. At least I hope this was what it was meant to be. She ran over to the still stunned Wanda and tore off the device on her wrist. She added:
"I wonder if that works on me too."
With these words, she wrapped it around her wrist and hit it. Immediately, she screamed, making the walls shake. Somehow, I felt as if I was in a room with Godzilla. Wanda recovered from July's attack and struggled to her feet. She abruptly cleared up when she saw what was going on.
"Oh, no. You didn't!"
The even crazier looking July laughed and said:
"Of course I did. Why shouldn't I? I think it just starts working. Oh my God. I wonder what it'll do."
Wanda ran at her head first, just trying to prevent her opponent from growing. It was too late.
Suddenly, July's body was wracked by strange spasms. Wanda hit her, threw her to the ground and hesitated. Had her foe taken herself out of the battle? What would the device do to someone who was linked to the Ancestors?
She stepped back as the spasms got stronger. Wanda had probably heard strange stories about exploding people who hadn't taken well to their transformations. It looked weird to see the giant woman retreat, but then, I was equally worried.

There was a slow, tearing sound. It sounded as if someone was pulling apart a plastic bag. July stared at me wild-eyed. She probably didn't feel too good, but the look in her eyes suggested that she was having an orgasm. Her body quivered and flickered. There was something weird about it. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but as the movements quickened, I took a few more steps back. When I hit the wall behind me, I saw Wanda had done the same. Despite her monstrous appearance, she seemed worried. Afraid, even. Her focus had switched to July and I was happy she ignored me after what I had done. I immediately looked back at July.
Clearly, I had missed something. She growled and squealed, then said:
"Ah. Ah, yes. Oh. This is so ... good. This is incredible. It feels as if every part of my body is just ... alive. Oh, Wanda, Wanda. You're in for a very nasty surprise."
My ex-wife wanted to say something, but only managed a choking gasp.
July was twisting on herself. She had somehow formed a kind of ring out of her torso. Her legs and arms hung limply from her side. It looked insane and extremely unhealthy. I just hoped she wouldn't die.
"This is the best! I ... love ..."
Before she could finish gasping her sentence, her body somehow upended itself. It looked utterly gross and really crazy. As always in such situations, I couldn't help but watch.
I was fascinated, but I was just as happy I hadn't eaten in a while. The effect was, well, surprising.

Slowly, July's toroid body began to transform and grow. The mass suddenly began levitating, clearly ignoring the laws of physics. It was as if I could watch a fetus grow and develop right before my eyes. I couldn't take my eyes off the weirdness before me. The thing became oblong, folded itself again, developed eyes and various indents. Then, the transformation accelerated.
Wanda managed:
"Holy ... shit."
I followed suit:
"What the hell is going on?"
With a groan and grunt, July abruptly extended a pair of arms, then another, then a third one. I found myself reminded of the bizarre underground creature we had met. Was this going to be her?
As July slowly floated to the ground, her body covered itself in thick, hard muscle. Now, I am no anatomist, but I was pretty sure that muscles weren't supposed to be arranged in this way, at least for humans. Meanwhile, her face (if you could call it that) transformed and mutated, eventually giving her a massive, almost saurian jaw under which a regular humanoid face looked at us. It was disturbing, to say the least. Her arms arranged themselves around her body, giving her an a look similar to a Hindu goddess. Her body, now swollen and overloaded with muscle, added a pair of monumental breasts for good measure and a set of the most muscular legs I had ever seen.
July hit the ground and howled her challenge, suddenly exploding a swarm of equally levitating disembodied hands from her back. They formed a corona around her body and reproduced weird gestures from her four-fingered hands.

She bent forward, grunted and attacked. Wanda was clearly surprised by the quick recovery and barely managed to get her defense up. July rammed her against and through the wall. Bits of concrete flew everywhere and I dropped to the ground to avoid being hit by exploded pieces of rebar. I looked up again and saw that she had not only blown apart the wall, but had also severed the steel bars in it. They were torn out or twisted outside the building. I heard a crash as Wanda went down on a car whose alarm started beeping pathetically. I followed the pair outside, careful not to draw too much attention to me. Wanda rolled off the car's caved in roof, shook her deformed head and roared in aggression.
July stood on the opposite side of the parking lot, her hands still circling her. She had clearly decided not to give Wanda the initiative and immediately launched herself at her foe again. Another car went down as she landed on top of it, squishing it together like a tank. Pieces of the sad thing spiraled away as the doors were blown off. July extended her right arms, punching Wanda's roaring face. Scales blew off, slicing up the cars next to her. She grabbed one of the smaller ones and lifted it up, getting ready to throw it at July.
The giant monster just laughed and bounded at her, the hands preceding her in a line and slamming into Wanda's core. Nonetheless, my mutated ex managed to throw the vehicle at her foe. It hurtled at July, but she just smashed it to the ground with her four fists.
More pieces of metal and plastic ricocheted over the parking lot, forcing me back into cover.
I could hear Wanda shout:
"Not bad. But this isn't all."
"Then show me. You're all talk and no fight. Or do you want to continue chucking minicars at me?"
"Whatever. Get a taste of this!"
Wanda inhaled. The scales on her back lifted up and revealed some weird openings that led to her insides. Suddenly, a blue light shone from her inside. It got stronger and stronger. July had smiled at first, but now, she tore up a car and fashioned a kind of shield for herself.
She wasn't even finished when Wanda suddenly released a blast of blinding blue-white light. I could feel the static in the air lift the hairs on my arms. The blast was red hot and clearly dangerous.
I couldn't avert my eyes. It hit the car-shell and instantly melted it. Droplets of liquid plastic shot around as the metal parts dripped down like candle-wax. July dropped the molten car and dove to the ground as Wanda's blast subsided.
July shouted:
"Whoa! What the fuck are you doing?"
Wanda laughed viciously:
"I'm killing you. That's all I'm after!"

July backed down and grabbed another car, which she chucked at Wanda. The other woman blasted it all the same, turning it into a blackened carcass. She did not, however, expect the manhole cover July had sent right after it. Wanda was struck right in the face. The metal disc hit her and bounced off her scaly armor, but I tried to dig in deep into the ground as her strange mouth-blast was diverted and raked the area, tearing up walls and ground alike. July had anticipated this and followed it up with a charge. As Wanda attempted to get the energy flowing through her under control, July rammed her, launching her back and out of the parking lot.
However, Wanda immediately clung to the ground and stabilized herself while tearing up the tarmac. She shook her head and threw off the little flocks of street from her hands.
"That's how you want to play it? Fine. Come on!"
July was upon her, but Wanda knew what she was doing. She grabbed a streetlight, tore it out and used it to spear July. The taller woman-monster impaled herself on it, screaming in pain.
"There. And now, I'm going to hurt you."
Wanda attacked the howling creature, smashing her fists into her. July retreated, staggering around numbly as blow upon blow rained down on her. She tried to dislodge the improvised weapon from her middle shoulder while fending off the attacks. Soon, she was covered in cuts. Wanda forced her down the street, sending her into a hydrant that immediately ruptured and sent out a massive water fountain. A passing truck saw the fight and swerved to evade the fighting monster women. It tipped over and skidded down the street, the driver screaming as the vehicle rammed Wanda and carried her down the street. She stopped it, tore off the front and lobbed it at July, who dodged it as she pulled out the lamppost. July spat and fumbled at her wound, strange greenish blood oozing everywhere.
The truck driver scrambled away, screaming in shock as the two monsters approached each other again. As Wanda came closer, her muscles swelled even more.
"Could you believe it? All this fighting makes me feel so much more alive!"

I tried to keep a low profile, but had to watch this fight happen. I don't know why, actually. It would have been much smarter to just run away and hear about it either from the survivor or the news channel tomorrow. But all this was fascinating and I had to stay around.
Wanda was growing both taller and more muscular. She could now easily look over the ground floor shops. It was just a matter of time before she had grown bigger than a regular house. She looked at July, who was also mutating further, keeping up with her growth. The pair locked gazes. For a second, it felt as if the air was reeking with energy. I watched as the truck driver managed to hide behind a dumpster. He looked at me imploringly, as if asking what was going on.
I just smiled at him and made a sign for him to leave.
Meanwhile, other people were looking down from their windows. The area wasn't exactly wealthy and the people that lived here knew that they were supposed to keep to themselves, but still, curiosity got the better of them. I was pretty certain that the police would soon show up and then, the military.
July didn't care. As her wound started to heal, she made the levitating hands circle her again. They arranged themselves in a straight line and interlocked, creating a kind of spear. July took it with her right hands and suddenly let the first hand extend a massive bone tip that seemed to be razor-sharp. Wanda began accumulating energy. Once again, a bluish light appeared all over her skin.
July abruptly sprinted forward and launched her makeshift spear at her opponent. Wanda immediately reacted and fired her blast at her enemy, dousing the streets in blue light. I screamed for people to get down as the hand-spear struck Wanda. The blast hit July, punching another hole in her. She was literally thrown in the air and rose above the street, grabbing a billboard above. Wanda, on the other hand, suddenly found herself covered in disembodied hands that held her and forced themselves down her throat and into her wounds. Her blast vaporized some of them, but she lost control, exploding a long line of concrete walls next to her. The building immediately became unstable and started to crumble. As its facade toppled, screaming people tried to retreat. The whole front crashed down on Wanda.

July looked down on the wreckage and smiled. Then, for no reason, she threw her head back and howled in triumph. I stared at the display of power and felt weird. Was she now really turning into a monster?
Actually, who was I kidding: She had been a monster for quite some while now. I sneaked across the street to help the people who had been hurt in the collapse. There was dust everywhere. In the background, I could hear sirens. Probably the police or the military who had been alerted of the fight. I pulled someone from the rubbish. It was an older man. He seemed tired and confused but not hurt too badly.
Involuntarily, I looked up to July. She was still surveying the area. People looked up and pointed at her. She was bathing in the attention of the crowd. Her body glistened in the moonlight, her muscles swelling and quivering. I could almost see how she was happy to intimidate them.
Suddenly, I heard a noise. I took a step back and saw that some of the pieces of brick and concrete had begun to move. Quickly, I shouted for everyone to get out of the way. This wasn't over.
With a crash, the heap of rubble slipped and rolled to the ground. Wanda rose from the dust and broken remains of the house and roared.
"You think that this is enough? You're not even kidding yourself! I will kill you!"
With these words, she threw off the last pieces of brick and mortar and stood up. As she did, she grew even taller. I honestly had no idea how she did that, but there she was, growing larger and larger. It was clear that these two would soon be Godzilla-sized monsters and where would that leave us ridiculous humans?

July was clearly amused by Wanda's recovery. The gigantic woman, now easily two stories tall, looked at her and shouted:
"I'm going to tear you apart!"
Her scales once again opened and began absorbing energy. Instantly, she started to glow and produced a strange hum. The spikes on her body extended further, some of them splitting open to reveal strange fractal structures. Wanda started running towards July and jumped up. She fired her blast not from her mouth, but from all the small openings on her body, turning her into a spiked cannonball of death.
July saw what was happening and quickly jumped down on the street. She was halfway down when Wanda gave off an ear-shattering scream. Suddenly, all the spikes exploded off her body, propelled by sparkling blue energy. They rained down everywhere, tearing apart the streets and punching through the walls. July dove for cover, but she was out of luck. The spikes pierced her and pinned her to the ground. Greenish blood flowed from her body. Wanda turned around in the air and dropped down next to her. She kicked her opponent, tearing her loose and making her bleed even more.
"You see? You don't stand a chance."
Another kick followed. July gritted her teeth. Another blow. And another. Blood was now pouring from her body. Wanda laughed.
"You're weak, you're pathetic. And guess what, can you hear the sirens?"
July rolled over, trying to recover. Indeed, the howl of sirens filled the air. Wanda gloated on:
"They're coming for you. We're going to take you with us, dissect you and pull everything from you we can use."
She turned to me:
"And you, dear husband, you're just going to be eaten. Probably by me. Just as you always wanted, although maybe not as literally!"
I stared at her in horror as the first squad cars arrived. She walked to me lazily, every step shaking the ground. I scrambled away as good as I could, but she just took a few giant steps and laughed, immediately catching up with me.
She grabbed me and lifted me high. The broken ground under me suddenly looked very distant.
I was about to die.

"Ed, sometimes it's amazing you managed to survive so long. You're clumsy, stupid and careless. Most people would have been killed five times by now. It's a little bit fascinating. It's also ... over."
With these rather threatening words, she lifted me up further until I dangled above her maw. I saw her strange, many-rowed jaws below me and barely managed not to scream. This was it. I would die. Eaten by my monstrous wife. It was a weird situation to be honest. As I hung from her enormous fingers, I reached a weird zen-like state. Maybe it wasn't too bad. Maybe this was all that was going to happen: I'd get eaten and ...
My confused meditations were interrupted by a switch in Wanda's attention. The police had arrived and had taken out their guns, aiming at her and calling for support. There were shouts below which I only now really heard:
"Unhand this person, monster!"
A rather courageous policeman shouted at Wanda. She looked at him incredulously. I was abruptly removed from my perilous situation and found myself dangling twenty feet above the ground next to her. She looked down on them and said:
"I'm on your side."
The police officers stopped, admitted their confusion and kept their guns trained on her. The officer continued:
"Drop the man. Slowly!"
Wanda bent down on him. I could basically see the guy shit himself in panic.
"Don't worry, officer, I got it under control. My papers are in my clothes and they're somewhere around the corner."
She clearly tried to give all this a casual, almost professional feeling.
The squad clearly had a different opinion:
"Drop him now, or we open fire."
"Sheesh. I'm on your side. I work for the Friends."
There was a little confusion among them, but as she slowly returned me to terra firma, I saw them ready their guns and fire.
Wanda stared at them. The shots went off and pointlessly hit her scales. She grew angry, not out of pain, but out of annoyance.
"Stop it! Arrest the guy!"
The leading officer clearly had gone crazy, because he grabbed his shotgun, shouted a garbled war cry and charged Wanda's shin, firing his gun a few times before running out. Wanda lazily kicked him against the car, wrecking it and clearly injuring the man in the process. She shouted:
"Why won't you listen? I am on your side, I work for the Friends, I'm half Friend. Don't worry ..."
She couldn't finish because a wounded, but oddly enlarged July bit her shoulder and tore out a large chunk.

"Welcome to being a monster, Wanda!"
July roared, clearly amused by the police's reaction. Wanda turned to face her, launching her against a wall. July stood up instantly and crouched down, covering her head when the top part of the building came crashing down. My ex proclaimed:
"They will understand. You are the monster, so stop your sad attempt at provoking me!"
July lobbed a handful of bricks at her.
"Like this? Feeling angry now? Feeling like a monster yet?"
She laughed. Wanda looked around. The police officers had retreated to their vehicles and were radioing in reinforcements. She spat and said:
"They will come and they will bring some Friends. This will all be cleared up and you'll end up in a lab, ready for dissection."
July laughed at her and replied:
"I wouldn't count on it. Also, have you seen my hands?"
"Your hands?"
The Ancestor-halfbreed waved her hands.
"Yes, those. I shot a few of them at you. Where'd they go?"
Wanda was momentarily confused. Had this shit gone to July's head?
Then, she looked down to her left side. There was something weird going on. Something was moving under her skin. She laid her hand on her shoulder. This was where the weird spear had struck her. July mocked her:
"Did you find it? Awesome. I guess my hand is in you now. You're not going to like it."
At that moment, a searchlight flared up and bathed the area in bright, cold light. A voice could be heard above:
"You there. Put down your weapons and lie on the ground."
A helicopter was approaching. July laughed out loud.
"Oh my God! This is just like I always imagined. I'm going to need a tall building next. Wanda, I'm so glad you're here. You're a bitch, but you're giving me the opportunity to be the Godzilla to your King Kong."
"What."

Before Wanda could react, July slammed her fist deep into her skin and pushed her back. Then, she followed up with a true barrage of blows. Wanda took a step back. The already strained ground below her gave way and she broke through the tarmac. She screamed:
"Ew! What's that? That's so fucking gross!"
July used the distraction to really power up her next blow and lay her full weight into the next blow. Wanda toppled over, her foot still stuck in the ground. She tried to free herself, but for some reason, her right arm no longer obeyed her. Every time she tried to move it, it was as if something held her back. In panic, she stared at her shoulder and saw July's hand claw to the fibers of her muscles under her skin. Her scream turned to a shriek.
Meanwhile, July climbed on top of her armored and super-charged muscle body and said:
"Oh man, I love this."
She opened her jaws and dug in, biting deep into her enemy's mutant flesh. She tore a large chunk out of Wanda's chest. Blue blood sprayed everywhere.
The monstrous young woman chewed on it rather thoughtfully and swallowed.
Amidst her victim's howls of pain, she said:
"Incredible! It's like being a cannibal, only it's not! I can't believe it's not human!"
She snorted.
Wanda flailed uselessly at her. July prepared for the next bite, when a distant explosion announced the arrival of the military. A tank shell came down right next to her, exploding the ground. Shrapnel and fire showered the area. I lay down on the ground, face down. I had to get away now. Another shot barked and another projectile struck the house next to us. The concrete was torn apart.
Then a trio of tanks rumbled into view, their infantry squadrons getting ready for an assault.
Oddly, they didn't attack.
Suddenly realizing what they were up against made them hesitate. July, on the other hand, laughed.

My monstrous friend and fuckbuddy roared in delight and charged the unit. The soldiers desperately tried to keep their cool. I could hear their commanding officers shout something, but as the ground shook and the massive mutant woman thundered closer, they lost their nerve. It was not that they merely fled. I could almost smell that one of them soiled himself while the others stumbled and ran or just plain fell over. Instantly, the soldiers' morale was broken.
July rumbled closer. One of the tankers took aim and fired the main gun. The shot flashed through the air, I could barely see it. July evaded it with lightning quickness. A salvo from one of the machine guns followed. The bullets either bounced off her hide or got stuck in her armor. July reached the first tank. The driver put it in reverse and tried to get away, but July crashed into it. She sank her hands under the hull and lifted it up. The vehicle weighed at least forty tons, but she crouched down and stood up, her back rigid.
The machine was flipped over, its tracks running pointlessly like an overturned turtle's legs.
The other tankers panicked. Some climbed out of their vehicles, others desperately tried to turn their vehicles around, further exposing their vulnerable parts. July seized the opportunity and sank her huge hands into the tank's radiator. She tore it out, sending pieces of frustrated metal flying. One of the soldiers popped out of the hatch and fired at her with his sidearm. July just swatted him, probably killing him.
I stared at the carnage and insanity. As she continued her attack, she began to grow again. Having eviscerated the next tank, the enormous creature howled in triumph and declared:
"Is that all you got? Bring me some real foes!"
At that moment, Wanda crashed into her back.

I could see the fight was escalating quickly. I mean, honestly, it was already quite escalated anyway. Wanda's attack sent July into another building, punching a massive hole into it and collapsing the whole structure on top of them. They hammered at each other, oblivious to the watchers and the devastation they were causing. Finally, July got the upper hand and held the now equally gigantic Wanda in a choke-hold. Wanda grunted and tried to recover, pulling at July's arm. The taller woman just stood up, pulling her enemy in the air. I wasn't sure whether Wanda still had to breathe, but I was quite certain she couldn't right now. She tried her entire arsenal, piercing July's hide with her spikes, but the other fighter just gritted her teeth and ignored her. She hissed:
"Nice fighting, girl, but now, it's game over!"
I guess she would have broken her opponent's neck if she had had a few more moments, but that's when the world suddenly turned into an ear-shattering bang. I was launched over the wrecked plaza and crashed into the rubble, covering myself in scratches and bruises but happily surviving. I could see the shrapnel bury itself deep into the plaster and bricks. Other bangs followed. The "ping"-sound of ricocheting metal filled the air. July grinned and changed her grip on Wanda.
"The next time that fucking plane goes by, you're going to do your thing, got it?"
"What thing?"
Wanda was bewildered. Before July explained, there was a thundering noise above and the fighter wing that had attacked us returned, sending down another volley. July threw Wanda to the ground and sank her fist into her stomach. There was a glaring blue flash and Wanda's mouth erupted into another burst of energy that pulverized one of the planes. More red-hot metal rained down on the gigantic pair.
July dropped Wanda and danced in the burning steel and carbon rain:
"Hey Ed, are you impressed yet?"

I stared as the world-shaking giantess did her dance-steps amid the destruction.
I felt reminded of the stories about dancing gods ...
Was this the beginning of a new world?

Above me, the planes fled. I could hear more thunder, as artillery opened fire.
Every force that was deployed against the two monsters just made them bigger, stronger and tougher. Somehow, they had found a kind of harmony, a sympathetic vibration that only increased their power.
I protected my head as more explosions went off, but now, the two beasts realized their power and abandoned their humanity. More soldiers came, first human ones, then Friends. Blasts of energy filled the air, concrete erupted into fire. I couldn't stop looking as the twin creatures devastated all opposition. They advanced, cutting a swathe of destruction through the city. Whenever the attackers vaned, they returned to each other, smashing their colossal bodies into each other's.
Watching them fight or love made it impossible for me to make a distinction. The assaults redoubled in power. As the two undisputed queens ravaged the city center, a mushroom cloud erupted above them. Fire rained down on their victims but they stood, burnt but unbowed. They howled in triumph, then clinched as they fought again and grew, surpassing the burnt-out remains of the city.

My ears were ringing and I was quite certain I was going to die now. I mean, why not? It was glorious to see these two goddesses struggle. Soon, they would remake the world in their image. I didn't know how, but they would spawn a new race of beings in their image. They would fight forever, create, grow and destroy.
The mere thought of this gave my devastated body shivers. I was watching the death of a decadent age and the birth of a new world. Coughing, I had to sit down on the rubble.
From July's shoulders, strange bubbles formed, each one containing a weird spawned creature. The foam fell to the ground, attaching itself to the ruins. Soon, the new people would hatch. Was I their father?
Probably. July had slept with me. I might be as an anglerfish, becoming part of her as a mere help for reproduction.

The two giantesses fought on, July landing a massive blow to Wanda's face, but finding herself thrown to the ground by her opponent, bony spikes raining everywhere. Blue fire raked the air. The clouds above parted in cerulean lightning and the stars returned.

What a way to go ...

So yes. This is the end of this story (which took long enough anyway). I hope you enjoyed reading it. I'm going to try and finish the next one soon. I still have three open ones around here and I hope I will get to all of them eventually.
Sadly, I cannot devote more time to writing right now, but I still hope you like my stuff.

More soon.
