She was unhappy with a placing she got at one of the big shows (Ms. I?) She came out on stage during the pose down at the end. Did something, like gave the judges the finger or arm (have not seen anyone do that in long time). She got banned/suspended for a while but either way, i don't think she ever competed again. Then she got married etc. etc.

Not at all. She was actually suspended by the IFBB for less than one year for flipping the bird to judges during the 1992 Ms International where she finished 8th IIRC. She was allowed to compete the next year at the 1993 Ms Olympia.

For me, She personifies that 1992-93 era in the sport.. The magazine photos JDM uploaded, take me back to a pre-Internet information age, and a time when giant book stores (with cafes and coffee shops) were still scarce. I'd just post up, and lean on a magazine rack inside a grocery store, or pharmacy, and leaf thru all the bodybuilding (& music) magazines.

I would do the same and then decide which of the muscle mags had the Best Female Muscle in them and then i'd buy it.

If there was a muscular man on the cover, i would hear no comment from the cashier...if there was a muscular woman on the cover, i would ALWAYS get a response like, "Oooo That's Gross", or "Wow, that girl looks like a man." or anything like that.

I can only remember 1 time when a cashier gave a positive comment on a Women's bodybuilding mag i was buying. She was a thin girl probably 22 or 23, i was 17 or 18 and she thought the girl on the cover looked great...yep. it was Tonya Knight on the cover.

I was always amazed that store cashiers seemed to always have to make a negative comment, even though they'd be some totally out of shape slob....any way...the good ole days :)

In addition to (vintage) Paula's beautiful, sculpted body.. I liked the way She wore Her hair while posing. The pulled-up sweep of Her hair ^, always reminded me of a proud, Trojan helmet.
Paula looked really powerful.. the tight booty, the perfectly coiffed hair.. good memories.

"A simulation of 1993's internet"? Friend When I was young and first fascinated by lady bodybuilders, we had a store that had the magazine rack the length of the store, with one whole rack with nothing but bodybuilding magazines and those who had women in it, always had a bit of Paula. You must have grown up with the short version of the "internet".
