Biography:

Where and when were you born?
October 4, 1984. Salisbury, NC

What is your profession?
Nursing student at East Carolina University. Will Graduate with my BSN in May of 2006.

Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training?
I have played sports my whole life. I have always been athletic and was quite the tom-boy of the bunch when I was a kid, lol. I started competing in BodyBuilding in the 9th grade in highschool. I competed in a figure show and unfortunatly did not place! My passion was bodybuilding because that is what my brothers were into at the time. I looked up to them more than anyone and wanted to do everything they did. I continued to try to put on size and muscle to reach a point where I could compete in bodybuilding. I next competed in the 11th grade where I entered a local bodybuilding show. I placed 3rd as a lightweight. Placing third really boosted my confidence and encouraged me to follow my dreams and stay on the road to muscle progress. Seeing my body change throughout high school was amazing! I was always picked out upon the normal highschool crowd and given the "oh my god" look, lol ...I loved that look. As a child, I had a very petite body. One you could classify as "skinny" (I hate that word, especially during dieting season!). It was definatly a quest for me put on size! I'm sure the fact that I worked out 7 days a week wasn't helping me to gain muscle either, since I wasn't giving my muscles any time to repair themselves. I really didn't know a lot about the right way to do things then. I just went along with whatever showed me results.

Can you give me your competition history?
1999 NC Quincy Roberts Elite; competed in figure, 14 years old
2001 Metrolina -- 3rd place Lightweight bodybuilding, 16 years old
2003 NC States -- 3rd place Lightweight bodybuilding, 18 years old
2003 Metrolina -- 3rd place figure, 18 years old
2004 NC States -- 1st place Lightweight bodybuilding and OVERALL, 19 years old
2004 Jr Nationals -- 2nd place Middleweight bodybuilding, 19 years old
2005 Collegiate Nationals -- 1st place Middleweight and OVERALL, 20 years old
2005 USA's -- 1st Place Middleweight, 20 years old

2006 Nationals -- 3rd Place Middleweight, 21 years old

2007 Nationals -- 2nd Place Lightheavyweight, 22 years old

Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you?
The most meaningful competition that I have did would definatly have to be the NC States where I won the lightweight class and the OVERALL title at age 19 during my sophmore year in college. I look at this as it being my first real accomplishment. I was away from home, own my own, training like hell and dieting with my own disipline. Being 4 hours away from home was hard but I knew that I could do it and I had to prove it to myself. My brother continued to help me over the phone with my diet and exercise, playing it by ear. I had a stationary bike in my dorm room and got up every morning, did my cardio, ate breakfast, went to the gym, and made it to class by 8am! I managed to get back in the gym at night to do more cardio while making time for my homework and through all this, staying on the honor roll in school. My brothers Brandon and Chris helped me through this tremendously and I owe a big part of this to them! Brandon was there for me helping with my diet, exercise, and confidence while Chris was there making sure that I was putting my school work before my training. Most important my Mother was always on the phone with me at nigth telling me how much she loved me and believed in me. She has supported me through everything, and I do mean everything! As, you can see, this is why this win has meant so much to me! My biggest success has definatly been this past year, the 2005 USA's where I placed 1st in the Middleweight class. Again, the youngest of the show and the youngest in 26 years to win a weightclass at the USA's. I trained like hell for this show and gave everything possible to bring my best ever physique to the stage. I believe that I accomplished so much this past year in the sport of Bodybuilding and I am so excited to continue in the sport to only improve to a stronger and better Britt.

Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.)
I have been training about 5 days a week.
Sun-Legs
Mon-Chest
Tues-off
Wed-back
Thurs-shoulders
Fri-off
Sat-biceps and triceps
And cardio on a sunny day, lol. During competition season I do cardio every morning before breakfast and every afternoon after training. Usually 1 hour or more. 30-45 min splits.

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don't like so much?
I love doing side db laterals for shoulders. The pump I can get in my shoulders is amazing. I think it depends what on the body part that I feel is lacking at the time as to what exercise is my favourite. I say this because I love reaching goals and achieving things so I try extra hard to make that body part equal with the rest of my body.

Which body part is your best in your opinion?
I have my days. Some days I think that my legs are my best quality. I have been complimented throughout my life on the development of my legs. Sometimes I think that my shoulders are my best body part. I guess it just depends on the day.

If you don't mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)?
I am leg pressing 585 for sets of 12-15 right now. I struggle but I make myself complete the set with a spotter.
Curled 150 lbs for 1 rep
Squat 315 for 4 reps

What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'?
Competition season- I love the tightness and harness of my muscles. I love the striations and the whole look. Training is also the best when your getting a pump and there's veins popping out everywhere. The diet is not so great but in the end the end it's worth every piece of dried-out boiled chicken and sweet potatoe you ate. Cardio is the worst part of training for a competition, I really dread that aspect. But I have to admit, as soon as that 45 minutes is up, your feeling like you just conquered the world.
Off-season- I LOVE THE FOOD! I can eat whatever I want and it benefits me because it contributes to me gaining weight! The off-season is great. No cardio. Just all gains! I love seeing my body grow and transform into what I have worked so hard for. Stress levels are a lot lower at this time! The only thing that I always get frustrated with is not being able to fit any any of my clothes, especially pants!

Please describe a typical day in the life of Britt Miller.
Get up around 5, eat, shower, go to campus for class all day or go to the hospital for clinical, come home between 5 and 7 and eat before the gym, eat after the gym, shower, homework and studying until the early hours of the morning, sometimes fix food for the next day, sleep as much as time allows, and start it all over again. Throughout the day, I visit my website, check emails, do webcam, eat, and talk to my fam and friends on the phone.

Please tell me about what you do when you don't work out ( hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.)
Hmmm, hard question. Honestly, getting in the gym and training is what I look forward to everyday. By the time I finally get out of the hospital or class I am so ready to get in the gym , get in my own little world, and get away from everything. I do often hang out with my friends and catch up on things. I love training and it really gets my mind off of things and lets me concentrate on what I love. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing sports, shopping!, and just hanging out and relaxing.

What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle?
I love being different than the average American. In the BB world we are all alike but in the reality of the everyday life, We are so much different than everyone else. It feels so go to be in shape and work hard for something that you truly desire. The thing I like most is being able to see my progress and accomplishments from day to day, month to month, and year to year.

Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear.
I used to be very insecure, even since I have been competing. I have watched myself slowly grow out of this and am now very proud of what I have accomplished.

What are your competition goals or personal future goals?
Planning to graduate from East Carolina University Nursing School with a BSN in May 2006. In November I am planning to compete in the 2006 NATIONALS in MIAMI and will be competing as a Light-Heavy Weight for the first time ever! I only want to bring my best ever physique to the stage and I can't wait! I'm so ready to start dieting!

Hobbies/ Interests: "I am looking forward to graduating in May of 2006 so I can reproiritize because as of now, my hobbies are school first and then bodybuilding and that is it. BUT when I have free time, I love to play basketball."

Athletic & Physique Competition History: "I played basketball while I was in high school and had planned to play in college. But towards the end of high school, I became 100% focused on trying to put on muscle size for bodybuilding. I also played softball my senior year. I then started to spend most of my free time training at the gym which ended up being to my advantage because my strength had increased and really helped me to succeed.

I have been lifting seriously since I was a freshman in high school. Although I couldn't take weightlifting as a freshman in school, I did manage to work out everyday. The coach of the weightlifting class went to the gym that I went to in the mornings before school. Since I wasn't old enough to drive, my mom would wake up and take me to the gym every morning at 4:30am. I would work out, do cardio, tan, take a shower, and then I would ride to school with the coach.

This is how I trained to compete in my first competition. I competed in my first figure competition, the Quincy Roberts "Elite," when I was a freshman at 14 years old. I looked awesome for my age, but yet I was obviously a little underdeveloped! I think I was about 110lbs! It was a great experience and I fell in love with the enviornment. It was a big thing for me to become a sophmore because I could take weightlifting class.

My next competition was when I was a junior in high school. I did Roger Morrison's Metrolina Show. I competed in the bodybuilding division for my first time. Unfortunately, I had to compete against one of the best female physiques ever from North Carolina, Melanie Thompson! Remember,I was only 16 at the time, and Mel was, well... HUGE compared to me! There were three girls in the lightweight class, and I got third. But hey, another learning experience out of the way! I was still happy, and I got my first trophy!

My next show was when I was a Freshman in college. I competed in the NC State Championships, lightweight bodybuilding class, and got third. I hadn't planned to do this competition; I had been dieting for about 7 weeks to do figure at the Metrolina and my brother asked me if I thought that I could get ready for bodybuilding at the NC States in 1 week! I thought this would be impossible, but of course I took it as a challange and preceeded to do so. I dropped 15 pounds in one week and placed third in bodybuilding.

I still did the Metrolina about 1 month later and, once again, placed third; but this time in figure. By then, I was tired of placing third! I took a year off to try to put on some size.

Last year, 2004, my Sophmore year, I decided to do bodybuilding at the NC States. I completed an 18 week diet and dropped down to 124 lbs from 160 lbs for the competition. I was, what I thought, in excellent condition. I placed 1st in the lightweight class and then went on to win the 2004 Overall NC State Women's Bodybuilding title. This made me eligible to compete nationally.

The 2004 J. Nationals were only 4 weeks after the NC States, so I decided to give it a try! I busted my ass for those next 4 weeks and weighed in at 120lbs. What I thought was excellent conditioning for the NC States, didn't even compare to the difference in conditioning that I had at the Jr.'s. I placed 2nd in the middleweight class at the 2004 Jr. Nationals.

I have taken the time since the show to put on as much muscle possible. I am now planning to compete at the 2005 USA's. From where I started out, I think that I have come a very long way and am so thankful that I am where I am right now! I only want to better my overall physique.

Bodybuilding is the one thing that I can turn to, to free myself from anything that might be bothering me. I go in the gym to get my mind off of everything and to just focus on what I love the most, training! I like the off-season look as well as the in-season look; I like being full and muscular, but then again I like being shredded when it comes competition time. The week by week progress during competition is awesome to look at the whole way through. The competitors and the competition that they bring with them to the stage is great and the backstage enviornment as well as on-stage time is an adrenline rush. Bodybuilding is my dream and I am loving every minute of it!

My future goals in the sport of bodybuiding are to compete in the 2005 USA's. I'm taking it one step at a time. I'm sure that you all can imagine what my future goal is, going pro would definatly be the most awesome thing ever. But as for right now, I am just taking everything as it comes. I am hoping to bring a new physique to the 2005 USA's, and in turn make a name for myself on the national level.
