Please allow me to correct you as to her name: It's Juri Omori. She lives and trains in Osaka and has only entered local and regional contests so far. She became Ms Osaka in 2010 and Ms West Japan in 2013. She has been steadily improving her physique and I think she has an excellent shot at becoming the next Ms Japan (Oct. 12) if she enters...but so far I only know that she has entered the West Japan (Aug. 30) and Kansai (Sept. 6) contests this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I should also add that she is Filipino, married to a Japanese, hence the name "Juri", probably from "Julie".

Oh and one more tidbit: From this year, women's bodybuilding has been replaced by physique at all JBBF sanctioned contests.

I've seen her name spelled Jhulie Oomori as well (Facebook page, although not much is posted there). As for the bodybuilding class being replaced by physique, I noticed that unfortunate trend lately, especially at the Asian Championships and Tokyo Open this year, bummer.

Aha! That's why I couldn't find her on Facebook. The name Omori (大森, Big Forest) is sometimes spelled Oomori or Ohmori in Roman letters because the "O" is long or stressed.

Although I'm against the elimination of the bodybuilding category in other countries, I'm not really bothered by the switch to physique in Japan because none of the women who have ever competed in the JBBF (at least since the early 90s) has ever been able to reach a world class level in bodybuilding. Most likely this is because the rules against ANY kind of doping or juicing in the JBBF are so strict. At least some of them (like Jhulie) might now have a fair shot at the top in international physique competitions.
