She was already implanted in 1989 NPC Extravaganza but not in 1986 NPC Nationals.
I don't know when it was taken exactly but maybe between 1985-1988.

There was a lot of beauty in the pairs contest back then, ot should come back.

At the time they looked for large muscular men and feminine lady bodybuiders.   Once the gals amped up to the men it seems to have drifted away.
My trainer Steve Dussia and I were a pair that were more a matched couple....but that was not what they wanted to see.  Hey we had fun!

Taken with film .  Photographer was Steve my partner in the photo who took this photo  on auto timer.  He developed the film in his bathroom.   Hey, this was a real life adventure for us....as we were training in his backyard on equipment he and my husband made...by hand ( outside of the power rack and Olympic set) It was a whole different era.  Both of us were naturals. He was Bill Starr's strength training partner at the U of Hawaii .  How blessed I was to fall into this quite by accident....a near middle aged woman who joined a gym with her husband to lose weight and get in shape.  Steve Dussia was one hell of a training coach and friend.  Boy did we have fun !

European federations still run some pairs contests. Even the IFBB has it in its world amateur and here in south america, although with fewer couples than during it´s prime in the 80s. However, it is starting to regain some status, as it seems more competitions are starting to have this class, and slowly more entrants to the competition.

As Alison said, maybe it vanished because girls were getting as big as the guys. But since there are a lot of classes and non bodybuilder-looking kind of girls, maybe that´s a reason for its return. Hope it keeps increasing
