Current age 68.  These were taken a couple of months ago on a surfing adventure off the Pacific coast of Central America

Still lifting, enjoying hiking and travel with my husband .  We're both as well doing some missionary work close to our home in Central America.   This Summer we plan a Month's surf trip to the coast of Ecuador

Great to meet you Alison! I really appreciate your love for sports and hope that soon, you may show some photos of you flexing, if that's okay, if not, that's cool. k+!

My last contest...in 1983 I was 38 yr old

I no longer enter contests in bodybuilding and have not trained specifically for that for decades.  I do lift however, always have.  I was 35 when I started.  My husband and I felt like we were getting "old" and out of shape.  A friend on mine encouraged us to join a gym.  About 8 months after that I had entered my first contest after having met a wonderful friend who was an expert trainer.   I placed 7th in the National Amateurs twice.  In Hawaii where I came from I won every contest I ever entered. Won the middleweight division of the Gold's Classic.

Pics and my story in Memorable Female Bodybuilders on this Saradas site.

My husband and I are currently trying to get into better shape.  If by chance that happens, I'd love to share it here.  I have found this site very encouraging.  Thanks for your kind comments.

This was during my contest time while living in Hawaii...I was 37 yr old in the pic

I was an active surfer so the back and shoulders were pretty much mostly there already when I started.

These were some clips taken before my very first contest after about 5 months of training...posing practice.  I was 35 yr old than.

Anyway that gives you a notion of how I began...late actually, how it went and where I am now at 68 yr old  in pics.

Well, like I said, it was very nice to meet you, you seem to keep yourself in great shape for a woman of any age. k+ again.

Thanks...and a K back.   An interesting thing happens after the 65 point I think.   All of a sudden TV stars you remember when you were a kid are mostly dead, and now a few of your friends are dropping off.  You have very few older relatives left...and looking around at folks your age you wonder: " Could THAT be happening to me?"
Focus now shoots to maintaining health which now seems so much more precious.   The hard reality of having lived longer already than you are gonna live looking forward is hard to avoid.  It's not so much getting "in shape" as staying "in health" !  ...and alive LOL

Anyway I'll keep you posted on the "in shape" department here.

Center pic was taken about a month ago...others around it are old.  Still dropping fat weight and lifting.  Slowly coming into focus

Stuck at 38 I would say Alison, 68 is just a number, can't be your age, must be a typo?
What is that you are carrying in the lower picture? Is it a frying pan for a megga breakfast fry up, or a barbeque?

Ha ha ha...you guys......thanks
The "thing" is a wave ski you ride waves with using a paddle.  It's 7'4" and weighs probably 30 lb or so.

Here's a pic of that "thing" in action

(http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/843/0naxe.jpg) (https://imageshack.com/i/nf0naxej)......................taken 6-10-2014 ( the wave tool is 7'2" long )

(smiling....now) Sometimes the "thing" bites back.   This was after taking off on a big wave...broke my finger and got a black eye.  Humbling
(http://imageshack.us/a/img824/6154/qrnr.jpg)
I think this was the wave.  The thing got airborne, hit some turbulance and after that it was a washing machine...me and the thing and the paddle.  I ended up the loser.
That said...I'm dying to get back out there on another big swell and go for it again.  I guess it's the Evil Knivel gene I have.  The harder my heart pounds and the greater the fear factor ( to a point) the more I like it.

Yup...all's well jim37.  I came back home and all my retired friends after hearing that my husband broke a few ribs and I got the shiner and broken finger...."You guys should think about slowing down..don't ya think?"    Ha.....like  that's gonna happen ( my thoughts on that).

dbmneto....thanks appreciate your kind words.

I'm still a work in progress.  It'll be months before I feel comfortable for the big shot.   Eventually I'd like to get as buffed as I can and get some professional shots taken before I die of old age.
I'm thinking....March 2014?.....Meanwhile I'll keep you all in on my journey to that target date with the fuzzy thumbnails ( lol )

Well thankyou kinsyoolivia.  It's certainly my pleasure to meet all of you.  It's you guys here on Saradas that keep me inspired.  I do appreciate you all.  I often wonder if you'll become tired of my craziness here.  For the most part I'm happy to share my experiences but also I do want to encourage health in the sport...mental and physical, without performance enhancing drugs.   Weightlifting can be a part of our lives for a long long time....and we can all feel so much better about ourselves because of it.  That's the part I enjoy sharing.

Awe thanks.  As some of you know I'm attempting to restore my aging frame to one of an active FBB.  Lots of years have gone by and pounds added....not muscle!   Ok so it's slow...but steady.  I'm real careful to press to exhaustion on lifts while at the same time ensuring rest and adequate protein.  I consume no starch carbs.  Anyway I have been recently sent a web page of an over 65 contest winner.  Bless her...she's certainly lean and does not look her age.  That said, there's a certain too skinney look and a sag that is not at all appealing.   It's a new game ....bodybuiilding after 65 yr of age.  I think we who are attempting it need to remember our bodies no longer have the chemistry of a 25 yr old.  That said...I'm 100% convinced you  CAN appear full and muscular (without looking like a holocost victem ) over the age of 65.   Genetics certainly helps.
