Even at the 1980 Ms Olympia (1st ever) there were 1 or 2 ladies with implants. So that's way the hell back then. It started early.

In the early 80s, Kay Baxter got implants. You can see it after her first couple shoots with WPW, she goes from having a flat chest with pecs to having implants. Would've loved to see more of her w/o the implants, IMO.

Cory got them in the mid-80s, maybe by her 2nd Ms Olympia. Diana Dennis had them as early as 84' or 85' when she was competing.

The big change happened in 1989, when half the women in the Top 6 at the Olympia had implants. I think after that, you'd see more than half the people competing at the Ms. O having implants.

That is not how I remember it. Who did you have in mind when you say there were implants in the first Ms O? That was the great thing about the early years, it was about muscle, not surgery.

Oscar State was a disciplinarian and determined to ensure the women followed the rules in those days. As seen in Pumping Iron 2, Rachel McLish was almost disqualified in 1983 Caesars Palace World Cup Championship, for turning up with a small amount of padding in her posing top. Implants were not allowed in the building!

Cory Everson was the first Ms O to appear with implants in 1984 Ms O, having qualified for the contest without implants.
It was the start of the decline in discipline, in those days even if you posed topless, the IFBB suspended athletes with little investigation.

Now, the women's side of the sport has lost the "sport" element, it is more about a beauty contest. Cosmetic surgery, very expensive posing suits, the difference between the men and women's contests is considerable. Given that some men are now having implants, so I understand, so maybe the men's side will eventually be about implants too!

Suzy Green placed #6 at the 1980 Ms. O. She definitely had implants even back then.
