Lenda Murray had a tryout for the wwe (then wwf) in 1997. I found a clip of her doing some basic wrestling drills with a unnamed female wrestler and Dr Tom Pritchard, who at the time was the head trainer for developmental in those early days. I am currently looking for the full video.

There was a report back in those days that there were more female bodybuilders coming to the WWF too.

This would have been around the time Chyna made her debut in WWF. a few years later Nicole Bass and Christi Wolf appeared in WCW. Melissa Coates also became a pro wrestler around the 2000s, and I think she still wrestles at an indie company from time to time.
Convincing VKM to put muscular strong women on TV (or a house show) back then would have been a very tall order, he viewed the ladies as just eyecandy T&A.
