Looking over all the fbb's in this show this is the finest group of women I've seen, I would hate to be a judge.

I think the point here is that we shouldn't allow our petty prejudices get in the way of evaluating an athlete's ability to bring high-calibre muscle to the stage. It doesn't really matter if a woman has tattoos, wears a wig, has big tits, has big feet, eats jogurt for breakfast or watches late-night TV...the winner is (should be) chosen because she is the best bodybuilder in the competition ;)

I was a little surprised about this turn out. Gillian and Janeen are 2 of the most consistent FBBs that show up in impressive shape show after show. I considered Janeen the fav to win. Well, everybody has a bad day.

Seriously, Jennifer looked smaller than most of the other girls, but I guess it's not size that's priority.

There were only 4 points between winner and third place , so the judges had the top places closely matched.
If you look at the prejudging and contest, the results were:
After Pre After Finals Consolidated score = final placing
1. Anne Freitas 5 1. Maria Rita Bello 5 total 20 Jennifer Scarpetta 1
2. Jennifer Scarpetta 10 2. Jennifer Scarpetta 10 22 Anne Freitas 2

So it was the consistant score of Jennifer that moved her up to 1st place after the 2 rounds even though she didn't win either pre or final.
Interesting. Did the others conditioning vary much between rounds for the top competitors which caused the issue, was there a judges meeting to rebalance the scoring in between Pre and final? Rita was 4th at pre but won the final round, was her routine much better?
Whatever, Jennifer was consistant, and that got her the win.

how can Jen beat the other gals?
Was Toronto Pro a FBB contest or what else?
All we can see is pictures, and in FBB, the camera sometimes lies. R*Muscle might show a competitor smooth, Mus Development's photographer might have a different angle and lighting and just snap the fully flexed muscles at the right moment, and suddenly the same competitor looks ripped.
If we could tell by photo's then we could have judges all over the globe giving retrospective marks. Plus it is about the routine as well, not just still pics.
Jennifer has great symetry, wonderful V shape and waist, and her legs look amazing, so maybe the judges think her balance is best.
I think FBB is still very much alive, and maybe the day we just say " Give it to the biggest muscles, whatever her overall shape" could be a bad day for FBB. And we would have little to discuss as well!

I might stick my hand into a wasps' nest by saying this, but perhaps they want to remove a class where women are in all honesty pushed to inject hormones they naturally can't produce much of. I'm sure the activity occurs in other classes as well, but bikini, fitness, figure and physique competitors aren't considered as "manly" by the general public as those competing in bodybuilding. And with health and fitness on the rise, maybe they're trying to attract more people.
Disorganised and clumsy, but I had to say it somehow.

I'm in agreement with those who said Jen got a "gift" from the judges, she looked like the HW class winner at any given STATElevel show, not a girl who should be #1 on a National stage, Now that said, hopefully she comes in to her next show in better shape.

so all the girls will think that for Olympia judges will want them smaller ...
but, of course iris will be not small, and judges will award her again,
because obviously in Olympia they want the girls to be bigger !

The IFBB finally has to make a decision. I thought Womens Physique will become the new bodybuilding from the 80s with the Cory Everson look and Womens Bodybuilding will become the freak show for competitors with crazy amount of muscle. That would be the perfect mix to promote fitness and health with Womens Physique on the one side and to break the limits and see how far your body can go with Womens Bodybuilding on the other side. Jen Scarpetta looks really good but thats not enough for bodybuilding. A little downsizing and she would be perfect for physique. Her look is just too close to physique right now. If thats what the judges want then why introducing the Womens Physique Division.

Btw, it would be great to see more women in the fitness division. Many girls switch from fitness to figure because its much easier to just step on stage , turn around three times and you're done but the fitness girls and their awesome choreographies are always fantastic to watch. I think fitness deserves much more respect especially if you see the low price money the competitors get. Its a shame that figure girls get more price money than fitness competitors although fitness girls work harder than any figure competitor.

I don't know why everyone is piling on Jen's victory. She had great conditioning and a well balanced physique. Someone mentioned Maria Rita and Maryse Manios being better but Maria Rita's upper body overpowers her legs, particularly her lower legs (half her calf is missing on left leg), and Maryse, while thick and hard has a rather blocky physique. I like the photo below because it shows her wide shoulders tapering down to a thin waist, awesome bowling ball glutes, full quads and cut full calves - close to the fabled X frame.

From the back it kinda reminds me of Nicole Ball who never quite placed as high as she should have.

don't know what all the fuss is about...jennifer scarpetta is clearly the winner with the most shapely, balanced, conditioned, physique with good muscle size. a lot of the other women look to 'blocky' and masculine...fbb has been becoming to masculine with fbb showing up with blocky waist and bloated abdomens.
fbb needs to go back to when women had nice small waist, feminine lines, with quality muscle, balance, and conditioning...jennifer clearly exhibited this and that's why she is the winner by a long shot!
someone on this forum said anne freitas did not improve from last show & only showed more side effects/masculination...i agree totally with that statement...good point

I always forget how HUGE yaxeni is lol. the woman is massive and makes everyone look small lol.

It might also be because Yaxeni is 5-8 and probably 185 in the off-season, while Maria Bello is only 5-3 and about 138 pounds.

its all opinion, its a muscle beauty pageant.............what is stupid about the hobby of bodybuilding is that the top 5 finishers might not even get called out with 4 different judges.....its the only sport that you compete in and you have NO IDEA what the judges are looking for till AFTER the show lol

I say congratulations to Jen. As I already highlighted, she had the consistant score, the others were wildly inconsistant across the 2 rounds.
She wasn't the biggest, but her balance and symetry was good, and she just looks good. The other 2 were massive, but that does not always get you the win.
And this is a Canadian contest, there are differences across the countries, and continents.
At the end of the day, Jen won, so well done to her. The others, well done as well. Nothing wrong with second and third in a PRO FBB contest, they are still among the top athletes in the world. In fact what an achievement to all of the line up for just being there. Incredible.

Why all the hate towards Jen??? I believe this was her first show as a pro. When she won her card there was a lot of controversy..this.victory against 24 other pros in her first show should shut everyone up. Ive never been a fan of contest shape due to the fact that all the women look manly anf the affects of juice use are showcased....jen broke that stereo type by still showing a great deal of muscle and conditioning and still being extremely sexy and very feminine. Kudos to her. Stop the hate!

I agree with the predecessor. That's a huge success, similar to Anne Freitas' one, last year in Hartford.

Quite agree. The judges decided, Jen turned up in great condition, possibly her best ever if the camera tells the whole story, and she won. Not her decision, the judges liked what she presented, so great!
Not her problem, so lets celebrate with her. Better luck to the rest, next time. Case closed.

That was probably the judge that voted her down and prevented her from winning the prejudge and show rounds outright.... :bravo:
