But no Ms. O. appearance.  ???  Or did she try to qualify and failed?

I think an invitation was required to compete at the O. So if I'm right, she was never invited. Paula did well in her Jan Tana showings, but not so much at the Ms. International. I believe a higher placing at the International would've earned her an invite.

You had to qualify for the Olympia. I think back then it was like top 5 competitors from Jan Tana, Ms International, and a few more pro show. They could give you a special invitation, but it was rarelly used. Sometimes that would happen with soembody who won their pro card at the nationals and got an invite for the next pro show a week later or something similar.

None that I know of.  This pic is from a female bodybuilder's IG based in Hawaii.

My mistake. Qualifying is always a must. I should've worded it as: Paula never qualified, but if she did compete at the O, I think an invitation was...

I find it surprising to think that if true she was not invited to the Olympia. I'd have figured taking the NPC title all but gave a competitor a pro card. Was surprised that Nicole Bass managed to snag one to the big event upon her triumph at the NPC event the next year.
Not saying Suzuki did but it seems that there is often sort of whispered talk about anabolics being utilized. But knowing that she was a powerlifter too I wonder just how she looked bigger than bev Francis.

One of the all time greats of the early muscle era.  I am very glad having won every contest I ever entered in Hawaii, I left the stage and the building before she appeared on it !

She will always be one of my all time favs.  Not doubt with her love of pumping iron, she is still a force to be reckoned with and an inspiration to other lifers.

In your opinion, Alison, were Paula in her prime to have faced Pillow in her's, Lori Okami in her prime (and you in your's), how do you think the judging would have gone down?
