Q&A
How long have you been training?
All my life really for different sports; as a bodybuilder, since 2001. Starting in high school I was a professional skateboarder and traveled my whole senior year. I came back from my tour and graduated valedictorian of my high school. From there I went to Hawaii where I taught and owned my own surfing school. I also paddled outrigger canoes on the Hawaiian state champion team for three years. That help me build my upper body strength.
What would like to see done to help improve or promote the sport?
Plenty!! I am out in the public eye everyday, and everywhere I am trying to go more mainstream and get the sport accepted. I think the more the general public becomes educated on women who have muscle, the better.
I do interviews and go on TV as much as possible — always maintaining a feminine side so that they can see women can have a body, brains, and beauty!!!
Do you get negative comments from people with regards to your muscles?
I don't pay attention to negative energy, so I don't even notice if any is directed at me. There are so many positive people who want to talk to me, ask me questions, touch me, etc. that I give my time to them. The ones that don't except me for who I am — oh well, their loss!!
Have you ever surprised yourself with you own strength? Like you forgot you were that strong?
All the time!! It comes out with my girlfriends as when I hit them in fun, it usually hurts!!!! I like to be gentle most of the time!!!
How have you used your physical strength, outside the gym, when it has
come in handy?
I passed the fire department's agility test. It was so hard it took me a year to train for it. I probably still have the record for women on the old test that was all upper-body strength.
Any message for fans?
Yes, please stay dedicated and support us gals at competitions and in membership sites, video sales, or whatever you can. I know we all appreciate it, and it means a lot. I know it does to me!!
What else you would like to share?
I have been a firefighter and engineer. Now I'm a full-time celebrity bodybuilder. All I do is travel, photo shoots and make movies. It is great, and my life rocks!!!
Thanks so much and looking forward to meeting you all along the way. Stay hard and stay loyal.
