Your friend is a classic case. Major dopamine hit in anticipation of what he wants, then when he gets it, the reality creates much less dopamine, or in his fantasy life he never predicted or anticipated all the things he may not care for. Also, perhaps too much porn, it warps our desires and expands them beyond their natural state.
