The Space Between is about an amateur female bodybuilder’s journey to prostatus that is complicated by her fraught relationship with her dying father with whom she wants to make amends.

The director Philiane Phang recently directed Mahershala Ali in Gubagude Ko on HBO. She has been supported by Sundance, Film Independent and the Berlin Film Festival. She has spent time with the female bodybuilding community. She wrote this film to celebrate female bodybuilders from their point of view. Female bodybuilders are the main characters, not in the background or playing a sidekick. They’re front and center. This film strives to make female bodybuilders human, unlike other movies that make them into caricatures. This film will serve as a time capsule, which we think, is particularly important, given that the industry is phasing out female bodybuilding.

We will be hosting fun,low key auditions in both New York City and Los Angeles so we can get a sense of who you are.
