FBBs and the Future
« on: November 05, 2020, 03:07:31 am »
I don't if any of you watch the Joe Rogan podcasts, but I've been watching them lately and they are pretty interesting.
Unlike other talk shows, he doesn't just get airhead celebrities or boring academics. He gets a nice cross section of society
everything from rock musicians to nutrition experts to environmental scientists.

Anyway, he had this Yale professor on the other day who was SERIOUSLY discussing the possibility of sex robots in the future
(ie female or male robots custom made to be your ideal mate).

Obviously this would be of MAJOR interest to the bodybuilding community, as most male fans don't get a chance to date fbbs,
and this would be an opportunity for some fans to actually to get something close to the real thing.

But as I was listening to this Yale Professor, I kept thinking that this tech must be still years, or even decades, away. Certainly to, say,
get fbbs who were really convincing and looked like your dream of a Ms Olympia in your own living room.

Its obviously an exciting thought nonetheless. I turn 50 this year, and so perhaps, with a little luck, I will see something like this in my lifetime.

But I was thinking what may be much more realistic and much easier to design, and therefore far more likely to acquire in the near future:

Did any of you see the movie "Blade Runner 2049"? In this movie, the lead character played by Ryan Gosling has a hologram girlfriend.
She is designed to his exact specifications, from her eye color to her hair length to the pitch of her voice, everything. He can see her from
every angle, in perfect 3D. The only thing he can't do is touch her of course. But still, she is incredibly impressive (not to mention useful,
as she has an AI brain and is therefore as much Gosling's assistant as she is his girlfriend).

Imagine the possibilities. You can order some company to customize your hologram fbb girlfriend. They can reverse engineer her from some
WPW video or Muscle Angles video or whatever( eg. my ideal would be 1990s Debbie Minsky in contest shape). And then you've got
your hologram girlfriend, operated by an AI, her dimensions PERFECT (I prefer bulging, tanned contest shape but thats just me), you can see her
in high resolution, in 3D, from every angle. Not sure how sophisticated the AI would be, perhaps rudimentary at first, but with patchees down the
line it could become pretty sophisticated.

I don't thing this is as much as a pipedream as some of you may thing. Thoughts?

Robotic, hologram partners etc are going to happen. And they will be beneficial for some people (and fun, to be honest). But they can never adequately replace the real thing. A souless invention can never replicate the feeling of knowing another human being loves you, or desires you

I have no doubt all of this will happen but not so sure it will be any time soon.

With respect to robots, We are only now beggining to master bipedal locomotion ( see Boston dynamics robots). While impressive they're still pretty clunky and will need say another 15 years to be similar to human level. Easily 30 years to get an electro mechanical machine (aka a traditional robot) to move and look _convincingly_ human.

But that's before it speaks.

Giving it something that mimicks a brain in terms of emulating emotions and intelligence is even harder.

In that regard I'm much more excited with advances in the biosciences field than in robotics. I think these will yield interesting results earlier.

All humans start as 1 cell that that multiplies and divides, specialising along the way and forming eyes, muscles, etc. We know very little about this process but research is ongoing. Once we know more we'll be able to control it.

This will unlock growing organs or altering existing organs (e.g. better drugs)

If you take it further, even DNA editing.

We are now starting to see medical applications for gene editing with "crispr" but we still don't fully understand DNA or have a way to change the DNA in all the cells of body. Once this is possible the possibilities are immense. I see a future where you go to a clinic to reprogram your DNA as easily as you now go to a plastic surgeon.

Like every technology the societal implications will be massive.

I remember reading a NWO story where something like this happened.
Science was able to make a bigger better human but it was expensive so only the very rich could have it done. I don't remember if they could do it themselves or if they could only do it on their unborn children. But as a result, these improved people came out taller (like maybe 12 feet?) and stronger and all that other sci fi stuff. As a result, it widened the gap between the rich and the poor even more as the generations that followed were able to cement their hold on power and resources even more and the "lower classes" were reduced to slaves and lived to serve the upper classes.

That seems more likely then something that would benefit everyone. Unless its a matter of life and death.

I think they will be around in the not too distant future, but they will be made to appeal to the widest possible audience to be commercially viable, so wouldn't be of any use to anyone even slightly unusual tastes.

I'm pretty sure we're closer to realistic sex dolls/androids than to 3D hologram technology. But I think before that we might get even more accessible, realistic and less hardware intensive 3D rendering software that'll put all these video websites out of business.

Nothing is of "MAJOR interest" to the bodybuilding (fan) community. Neither of these ideas will be any different. For the last 30 years, everything slated to become the "next big thing" in bodybuilding...hasn't.
