I am very shocked & saddened to post the news, that IFBB Pro FBB Alena Hatvani (aka Alena Kosinová) has reportedly passed away. She was supposed to compete at this weekend's European Pro in Spain, I have no further details at this time, R.I.P.  :'(

I just learned this today as well via Insta****.  I was a fan of her physique and I thought she was a beautiful women.  I am saddened today and upset to see so many competitors die in this sport.  As a matter of fact Stephanie Flesher is on insta right now talking about the many dangerous protocols are in the sport and how and how clients can have a discussion with their coach about what may or may not be right for them.  The sports needs to have a conversation about it.

Very Sad, RIP Alena.
You are right nickolai.
There are some of the women who speak out about it, Nathalie Schmidt and the late Joanna Thomas to name but 2. I am amazed at how many top athletes actually do not really know what they are doing, re diet, PEDS and even training. I have found that I know more when talking to some athletes, and I am hardly an expert. But the constant drive to be bigger and better, rather than symmetrical and balanced, is killing athletes, women and men.

There have been a number attempts to "reset" the divisions due to safety concerns for the athletes, including the unpopular scrapping of Ms O and most FBB contests, and introducing Physique. But division slip is inevitable, remember when Physique came in and Lindsay Cope was too muscular to win? She would be too small now, etc etc.

With even Bikini athletes taking substances when the more experienced FBB's say it is just not necessary at that level, the sport needs to get to grips with this.  Regardless of what fans of "Big at all costs" think, there are lives at risk here, and that's more important than anything else.

The problem is dieting for dryness and the need for same. Conditioning, I lament yet again, has been overprioritized in judging for years and this is causing ladies to maintain a fundamentally unhealthy deficit state. Sometimes they choose to use drugs to help achieve this and that obviously makes it even more dangerous.

This is sad.  From website fitnessvolt.com:

According to our sources, the Czech-born competitor fainted backstage as she was getting her last tan before posing on stage.
Staff helped her after she collapsed and she apparently tried to get back on her feet but could not and then was in and out of consciousness before becoming unresponsive.
The ambulance took between 45-60 minutes to arrive and it was not confirmed if she made it to the hospital before dying shortly after leaving the competition.
The 46-year-old competitor was going up against women much younger and the strain of having to be in stage-ready conditioning may have been too much for her. She’s apparently had Covid prior to last year’s Olympia and also suffered from cancer according to the sources.
