You can do almost anything in 3d, however it takes a lot of skill to edit a mesh and make it look good.

Most people who used Daz and poser just use standardized morphs which for the females figures have fairly limited muscle morphs.  This is changing slowly as more detailed models become available.  Genesis 2 female figures now have some fairly impressive massive muscle morphs that have just been put on sale on Daz's site. The morphs still need a bit of work but things are getting better.

It wasn't that many years ago where 3d needed "super computers" for pretty pathetic renders now even a  older desktops can run 3d software to make images and even movies if you have a lot of patience.   With a bleeding edge PC these days with 8-12 cores and hot rod GPU rendering 3d is going to be the in thing in a few years.   Games will be designed to let you put your own 3d meshes into the game environment.  People are already modding game meshes and it won't be long until the games are designed around people using their own mesh ideas in games.
