USB flash drive for archive??
« on: October 11, 2018, 11:26:56 am »
Well,I have are more than 500 DVD`s with ...you know what  ;)
But it`s frustrating every month to record so many...
Guys, do you think USB flash drives are good option for this kind of archive? More expensive...yes...but are they better than DVD`s ?

That's a lot of data. Even with 64 GB USB drives, it would take a lot of them. I've been on a similar situation, with all the files I have collected over the years. My adivce to you is that yopu get an external drive of 1TB (Idk is there are bigger HDDs). Also, and I know it's not the most pleasant thing to do, sometimes check the files you have, besides multiple copies of the same thing, you may consider deleting them. I know I have deleted some that were completely forgotten for some time and when I found them again said to myself "this thing is taking up space for no reason"

Also, I do have free memberships to a lot of file storage sites. they give you some room to breathe with space on your disk.

I hope this helps you in some way.

You can use Blu-ray discs. You can record up to 25 GB on single layer and 50 GB on double layer, and it's cheap.
500 DVDs = 94 single Blu-ray discs or 47 double layer discs.
Flash drives and hard drives have risk to corrupt some day.
