How do I upgrade from being a lurker?

Post more pics and clips, get more karma, get moved off lurker status.

The Activity Bar shows members' activity:

It tracks all posts made during a 30-day time frame.  The number of posts required in order to fill the bar is 30 which means 1 post daily.

Please note that these should be quality posts, not common, easy-to find content; 'junk' posts--smileys and short comments--will be deleted reducing the post count.

Activity Bar of VIP members should be around 80%.  If your activity is under that, you're probably just leeching.  You may lose your VIP ACCESS or be BANNED.

After  how many days exactly of non-activity will you remove the Karma?

A number of days can't be set, because it's not based just on your level of activity, but also your value to the forum.  Someone who just leeches may lose their Karma faster than a contributing member, since it's because of the contributing members that you come here in the first place.

If a pattern of leeching and worthless posting (requests, 2-bit opinions) is shown by a member, he may lose his karma or membership. If it's set at 30 days, everybody posts quality posts every 29 days to keep their karma. So the basic answer is:  Up to the Administrator.

Can I ask one question on this topic?

I am also a so-called lurker and probably have contributed even less.  I am enjoying the Forum very much and thank the moderators and creators.  I am not upset at all if my karmas come and go. I just would like to ask what could be the difference between a video or images shared through a torrent or an uploading website (which I might as well have downloaded...for example via Dailymotion, Youtube and Keepvid) or just notifying one of them on youtube?

Having asked this let me please add one thing, I personally find the youtube post and the uploaded one equally entertaining most of the times. Since this is a space for social sharing, also the fact of putting some link about youtube videos should be socially valuable. Anyway, I find karma erasing fair enough for accessing the big long videos like is it now, but I hope that banning people will not be related on the use they make of youtube link and/or uploading sites.

Regards,

Vynisle

I don't know of anyone being banned for posting You Tube links (unless they aren't put in the right section).  Most forums don't like direct linking to another website at all.

What we don't want is a forum consisting of all You Tube links.  If most of the video posts are from You Tube, why come here?  All we do is encourage you to post them in the flash section and no embedded porn clips. Those will be deleted.

Thank you Old Surehand.
That was my impression and I agree with the rules, I just wanted to be sure. I like to visit this forum but I did not wanted to abuse it in any way. I hope you understand that some people here are just watching for fun and not having real sessions or videos not coming from the net. I started to have a bunch of them downloading it from here but of course there is some redundancy in re-posting things...so there will be some limitation in the future for me to constructively contribute to the content. Maybe in some time when stuff get outdated I will re-post things contributing more. I just wanted to be sure that this is not offensive to anybody here.

Hello, I'm Blas, found the site 15 minutes ago, registered 10 minutes ago.  Problem is, i can't find the search bar.  I assume this has something to do with my recent arrival to the site.  Can someone explain this or point out the search box for me?  Thanks.

"Search" is a feature available only to VIP level members.

I've very much enjoyed my access to Saradas.  I'm not well off, financially, so don't have access to sources of fresh material or proper file hosting sites, even if i had stuff to post.  But, I could make an occasional modest donation to the site for continued access - I have no desire to get VIP status, just continued basic access.  Is this possible?  If there is no option for low cost access, then I will just thank you for the access I've enjoyed thus far.

I have noticed recently there are posts by people who are listed as guests.  Can you post as a guest or do you have to be a member?

I know. I thought that was weird...I am a jr member but if I am not signed in, saradas requests me to log on before I can post. Kinda made me wonder how guests are being able to post....

Thanks Shelly.  It just struck me as odd.  Maybe it is the nice way of getting banned or terminated?

Heck if I know, I have never been banned or been warned of the possibility. I just think it is odd that guests can post, but members are promoted to log on before they can.

When you see a username with guest under it, that means that the member is no longer with the forum. They were active members when they made the post. They also lost any of the karma they earned. Some of them came back to the forum, but had to create a new membership.

Thanks for explaining this and helping us figure out how that worked :)

I understand that it is hard to come up with a set number of days, and that it would vary depending on the members' value to the forum, but it would still be nice to have an idea of how long you can go with little or no activity before being sent to the sandbox section. would it be a matter of days? weeks? I think people knowing would also help to keep members active. I'm sure it goes without saying that some members here will have more time to post quality material than others. Of course it doesn't take long to submit a post or leave a decently thought out reply, but some people simply have other priorities. Having somewhat of an idea would make it much less stressful for people who have a busy schedule as it is, and/or often have to deal with unexpected appointments/meetings etc, as they'd be able to plan ahead and set aside time to make a quality post. On top of that, I feel that someone who wants and tries to be an active contributor, but doesn't get to contribute as much as they'd like is more valuable to the forum than someone who only posts just enough to not get banned, but really doesn't care about the content itself. I wouldn't doubt that alot of the current "leechers" or "lurkers" will do just that. I'm new here though, so I'm not even sure how the karma system works and if it would even be a problem for a member who posts every now and then, but I'm sure I'll figure it out here shortly.

And what about vacation? If I go on a vacation and don't touch my account for 2 weeks, would I be banned?

When you say you'll disable new registrations, does that mean once you get banned you can't make another account?

This rule could definitely help the forum, but it just seems like more of a hinderance to the site if you can't even give people an approximate timeframe of how long is too long to go without alot of activity, especially if they can't make another account after a period of inactivity due to circumstances beyond their control. If someone DOES get banned for inactivity but had no control over it, would they be able to message the mods afterward? If so, how would the mods determine if it's just a made up excuse or if it? I can't think of any reason why I wouldnt be able to post often, but I'm sure there are plenty of members who can.

Let me try to address each question.

The karma system was implemented to give incentive to posters and to reduce the number of replies.  Instead of everyone posting thanks for every post, they can click the poster's applaud button.  Of course, hide tags now defeat the post reduction aspect.

The move from Lurker to Junior Member status is automatic after so may posts. I think it's 1000 posts. I'll confirm with the Admin.

The Sandbox section has not been implemented yet.  You're still a member of the forum after being placed there.  You just will have even less access.  You should still be able to contact us from Sandbox section.  We look at your overall posting record so don't worry about vacation.

There's no set deadline, because if we say 14 days then we get bombarded with posts on day 13.  Another reason why there isn't a detailed timeline from lurker to Sandbox is that everyone's situation is different.

In the meantime, welcome to the forum boxofchocolates.

I tried logging in, but I could not get in. I had to re-register, because for some reason the site did not recognize my password. Does this mean my old account was hacked? If so, what should I do?

Probably you were leeching here for years and then booted automatically. Get the message? Just be an active member.
