finally the english version of Ramona's Biography
enjoy the interview and the pictures Dear BB friends and fans,
I want to tell you about myself and have a little chat if you allow me…
My name is Ramona Bozzano, I was born in Genoa (Italy) where I grew up and trained professionally. Family reasons led me to experience life outside of my home city, specifically in the USA and more precisely in Miami. I love that city and enjoy every time I have an opportunity to go back there.
My life was divided since my childhood between studies and sports, as I always had a passion for artistic gymnastics. This sport shaped and forged my personality and helped me grow and grit my teeth (I still remember when I was six years old I would take my gym bag, always smiling, and head to the gym for my daily workouts…). I have a University degree in sports science from medical school.
I currently dedicate myself to family and sports, my two core values I always believed in and fought for since childhood. Sports, the stage and sports halls were my second home. When I entered sports halls and saw the stands packed with people I was filled with a strange, peculiar force, almost Martian and magic which I understood later to be simple, pure adrenaline… yes, that adrenaline which still today, when I step on the new stage of BB, makes me feel good and addict.
The transition from gymnastics to fitness was very easy… physical strength, athletic build, competition, stage adrenaline and routines are all elements that unite gymnastics and BB. This is what led me to choose BB as a sport to continue to seek the same satisfaction which I got in competitive gymnastics. I still remember when I saw for the first time a BB competition with my future husband… sitting in the stands just before the beginning of the competition, I had already wanted to go on stage and compete to show everybody what Ramona was able to do and to offer to the sports of BB. I don’t feel presumptuous, just confident in myself and I knew that I could give and offer a lot to the public and to this magnificent sport, which is always kind of mistreated and mocked.
The transition was easy from that unforgettable day, one year after that competition which I saw as a spectator, I tried to participate to my first Wabba competition in Alessandria (Grand Prix Lombardy, Liguria, Piedmont). I could enjoy the taste of victory by being placed first in the Fitness category and first with the best Routine, which gave me access directly to the Wabba World Cup 2015 thanks to my skills which were clearly assessed positively by the judges. Judges to whom now go my gratitude and my congratulations because I can say that they were farsighted with regards to the athlete they saw on stage...
World Cup??!... yes I took part in the World Cup which I won being placed first in Catania on 14th of June 2015 and performing in front of a packed audience and an international jury together with 16 athletes of all respect. Thanks Wabba with all my heart…
But let’s now tell you about my typical day...
Big daily workouts, even twice a day (morning and afternoon) during competition season spaced out by several meals, once a day (morning only) off-season, a lot of afternoon rest, balanced meals but always mainly rich in protein, alternated workloads, specific massages, pre- or post-workout creams and last but not least, many many cuddles from my husband.
Of course considering that all of us women love being admired and some parts of our body... yes we prefer some to others because the "beautiful curve", sinuous and admired in the mirror, has for us women an effect similar to drugs... the more we see us perfect the more we need it, we seek it… we are, let’s not hide it, narcissistic and we like to be flattered, courted and admired.
We are true BB who like curves, proportions, details, being admired... let's face it without fear... we are UNIQUE WOMEN!!!
In my case I have a lot of attention and predilection for the buttocks area, back and shoulders without neglecting the legs, working with specific exercises and long walks uphill.
She who does BB has always to struggle with the looks, even sometime intrusive, of he or she who does not like too many muscles or even more is merely jealous because of that mirror effect I mentioned earlier... personally I learned not only to live with it but also to be pleased in front of such looks and you know why... simply because the famous saying "he who despises, loves" I think it was forged in our own body by the first Goddess of Body Builder that not everyone knows but believe me she exists and WE BB we are the living proof... (did you ever see a mythological figure depicted with a thin body?... I honestly never did)
Well dear BB friends and colleagues let’s always remember that WE are true athletes and not mere circus freaks.
In my future sports projects there are two international Wabba competitions in autumn and winter. My efforts are focusing on those two competitions as I want to be there with the highest possible preparation level to first of all please me and my work as a sportswoman and athlete, but also those who believe in me and follow me since I started... I owe a lot to all the people who pushed me to grow and improve and I owe them a few more victories… if I will lift a cup I will do it with them all!!!...
I won’t bore you further sorry I’ll conclude...
Someone asked me if I ever considered becoming PRO... well what can I say?!... it is a bit like asking a woman if she likes diamonds or roses... we'll see in any case because like any Prince Charming he comes when you least expect him...
Warm greetings to you all and remember that "lucking out" is not everything in life, if you do have luck it does not come by chance, you have to want it...
Hugs,
Ramona
