Have you noticed her lovely pointy ears? She must be half elvish or vulcanian. 
That's a purely cosmetic alteration. There's a growing contingency in the body modding community that are having part of the cartilage in their ears reconstructed to take on the appearance of (mostly associated to) Elven ear forms. Think of it as the aural equivalency of rhinoplasty.
