Fallen Amazons

Great female bodybuilders from past glories who are unfortunately no longer with us. They have dedicated their lives pumping iron and showing us their amazing results. Now, we should all pay homage and remind and thank them for all the memorable routines they’ve given us, from every time they stepped on stage.

I thought Esi Rainwater died in 1986 or 1987 by her self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Other sources confirm 2007 is correct.

Elizabeth (Liz) Odendaal 1952-1997. According to PL USA the cause of death was pregnancy poisoning. She is mostly remembered as a powerlifter but she also did some NABBA  bodybuilding shows.

On their way back home to Serbia from the World Championships in Bistrita, we have to report that in a fatal car accident, the young Athlete Monica Besiac with her mother and Branislava Jovanovic Master Women Bodyfitness were killed.

She was at the helm of the MaDonna Grimes Fitness Dance Theatre Company in Los Angeles (Just north of the Beverly Center on La Cienega, for fellow L.A. based members).She earned first place titles as Miss Fitness America, Miss Fitness International, and USA National Aerobics Champion in the mid-nineties. I just saw the news for Jenny Lynne-Powell and was shocked.  As I look at the others in this thread I am saddened.  So many and all in their 50's or younger.  I love the physiques these women build, but unfortunately this thread shows that what these women do to their bodies to achieve this look is detrimental to their health long-term.  So unfortunate.

I don't know if that's entirely true.  Jenny died of a seizure in her sleep.  There's all kinds of reasons for something like that.  I work in health care and you might be surprised how many people young and old who report a history of seizures.  Without getting into the covid vaccine debate, there are numerous reports of severe adverse reactions, and this could be another instance.  Kristy Enos was recently killed in a car accident, some of the other ladies have died by suicide (mental health) or homicide (possible mental health problem of a spouse or life partner).  If anything, I'd say that mental health problems and the behaviors that stem from them seem to be the most prevalent theme, moreso than the physical fallout of years of training, dieting and substance use.
