The fitness company / gym she was affilliated to, ceased trading last year sometime, and she said a big thanks to the owners for their support over the years. Since then, everything has gone quiet from Arja. She disappeared for a while due to illness and injury, and the last set of pics followed her brief return to competition. I'm hoping she has not decided to pack in competition altogether, following the set back I just mentioned.

I'll keep a constant look out, and you can be sure, I'll report back in this thread, if there's any news.

News From Arja.
After her last success at the Worlds in 2011, she had to have a second shoulder operation. She hoped to compete in the Ms O in 2012 ( She is an IFBB PRO athlete), but was not happy to push herself and risk further injury after 2 ops in quick succession.
She was facing retirement from the sport, but has now decided to focus on Physique, which will give her a chance to continue in FBB, without the risk of further more serious injury during training, and permanent retirement, probably before even getting to the MS O FBB stage. She is delighted that she has made this decision, and says that without the Physique division of bodybuilding, it is highly likely that she would reluctantly have had to retire from the sport. She is training hard to compete in 2013, but does not say which competition (s).

So sad that we won't see Arja appear even more beefed up and stredded, but I for one wish her well, and hope we see her again in Physique. Another reason why I personally think Physique is a great step in the right direction from the IFBB / NCP, albeit 15 years later than it should have been introduced. Flexing for all sizes of women, is most welcome!

News From Arja:
Arja had planned to appear in the 2013 World Cup Pro Women's Physique category, due to be held in California in October.
However, a troublesome left hip got much worse during training, and she has had to undergo surgery in June to shave off a bit of bone and repair. Basically, it's the risk hardcore FBB's and BB's take when they heave such weights around for many reps, her joints are wearing out. She has already had an op on her Right Hip.

She is making a steady recovery, eating a healthy diet, is planning on starting light aerobic exercise for her lower body in about 2 weeks, and continues to train her upper body.

She is setting her sights on appearing on stage again as soon as possible in 2014.

After a couple of years of injury,surgery and recovery, Arja has returned to stage in the Figure category of the Tampa Pro

Not sure why Arja decided to return to the stage in figure, but that is not a figure body. Never really seen an FBB do much in figure, unless they were too small for FBB in the first place. Physique would have been the right decision, in my opinion, all those years as a full blown FBB, you can't hide a muscular structure like that! That's one of the reasons Physique was introduced, so FBB's wishing to reduce size, or Figure / Fitness going upwards, would have a contest that required less extreeme preparation . The judges agreed and she got 16th. She's too much for the rest of the field.
Hope she tried Physique next time, and hopefully she will eventually return to FBB. Those muscles were built to flex, there's too much shape and pent up power for a figure contest.
But she will have to be a bit better than this, even for Physique, a little more cut, but those legs are itching for a fight!
