When the IFBB first mandated drug testing for female bodybuilders, Tripoli planned to stage a protest. “It was controversial,” she said. “What sport only tests women? Why not test the men, too?” Though she cooperated and passed the testing, the unprofessional manner in which it was handled didn’t make sense to her.
The testing took place in a bathroom stall at San Francisco International Airport; the woman sent to test her was a real estate agent (not a nurse), and her sample was tested in a bar.
Tripoli questioned the practice and decided to walk away from competition.

From what I've learned about Cathey over the years was that she was unique, creative, outspoken and assertive. She was different; cut from a different cloth, an atypical bodybuilder with a mind of her own. However, I did read that her husband had influence over her, which is not bad thing unless he had bad intentions. What makes her interesting to me is that she's normal. Normal people think freely.

As someone who work in the drug testing industry, I have to call BS on her drug test. There is no possible way to test for steroids, or any other performance enhancing drug, outside of a lab. They are very difficult to test for accurately. The only testing that could be performed "in a bar" is a basic screening panel for some illicit drugs like THC, Meth, Cocaine etc.

quoted as saying: "Guys ask me all the time where I get my huge muscles. Do I lift weights? I tell
them no, I just play lots, and lots, of tennis."

I recall having read in that article on her in the issue of Muscular Development where she appeared on the cover that for her quads she I think pre-exhausted them for 45 minutes with leg extensions.
